I know it's all been said before...but, I love knitting wash cloths and dish cloths. They are a great way to try out new patterns and stitches - a lot of baby blankets and pillow covers have evolved from patterns tested out on dish cloths. They also make great gifts for wedding and baby showers, and house warming gifts - you can really personalize them for the gift recipient. I have made sets that include bath mats, hand towels, scrubbbies and face cloths for wedding shower gifts; and hooded cotton baby blankets (for after bath) with matching super soft wash cloths. You can also knit and combine squares together to make great baby blankets - with an endless choice of designs that are free on the internet. They are also great for my ADD, as I often get bored with bigger projects, and they really help to break up the monotony.

Great idea! Does it matter which way you cut/tear the strips of fabric?

Great hat! Wish I could get DH to knit, then maybe he would stop complaining every time I pick up my needles.
