2  KNITTING / Knitting: Discussion and Questions / Re: Dollar Tree has Yarn on: March 30, 2006 06:06:51 PM
I am using my bernat frenzy the blue (mod marine color) to make a body pillow. Im actually just finishing it up right now, its about as tall as me 5'2" and took me just 3 days to make on my yellow knifty knitter(working for about 3 hours a day.), im going to make a seperate inner tube for the stuffing out of a blue sheet i got on clearance, i took 5 balls. The great thing about this stuff is its soooo soft because of the alpalca in it.

Love the dollar tree, going to go see if i can catch some of this other yarn tonight!

4  ORGANIZED CRAFT SWAPS / Talk About The Swap Process / Re: Swapping w/ crafters who smoke? Opinions please on: March 17, 2006 07:35:52 PM
This is an interesting topic for me, i non swapper as of yet because i have to be careful. Im extremely allergic to things that arent things people would normally think of being related to crafts but just daily life. The thing is daily life can sometimes get into crafts.  Like milk products of any kind, i cant drink it yes, but i cant even pick up a gallon of milk or sprinkle cheese on something for my hubby without breaking out in hives.  Avacados, i was at the grocery store, and not thinking grabbed an avacado for my husband and i had to run to the bathroom litteraly in tears because my hand burned so bad because of touching it.  Im also allergic to glycerin, so if someone washed there hands right before working on my things with out rinsing them very well i could get a bad rash from touching it. So its not just smokers....its normal people..lol but after divulging those pecuiluar allergies i dont feel normal.. that is even it either im allergic to a lot of stuff...my husband usually handles all our mail and stuff to see if he can detect anything that im allergic to....usually im safe though....just have to wash things sometimes and it goes away
5  MISCELLANEOUS TOPICS / Discussion and Questions / Re: Michael's vs JoAnn's vs AC Moore on: March 13, 2006 06:28:13 PM
I wish for any good craft store. I live in a  town with a couple mom and pop scrapbook stores, but no craft stores such as micheals joanns ect.. we have the standard retails ending in mart...but there selection leaves the world to be disired. If i want a real craft store i either order online or have to have my husband drive me 90 miles to the nearest town with a micheals and joanns
6  Craft Swaps / ARCHIVE OF SWAPS THAT ARE TOTALLY FINISHED / Re: Newbie Specialty Swap- signup until 3/12; sendout 4/1 on: March 09, 2006 06:38:57 PM
Well jumping right in...

Hello my name is cora and im a craftster lol..

This place i believe even though im new has helped me so much to find my inner peace.  So about me, im 22, and ive been married for 4 years, i got married 3months to the day after i turned 18.  My husband was in the military at the time, and now he just works for them doing the same job but getting paid 3 times as much and treated 3000 times better.  I have been a housewife for 3 years. Im what you would call a "Holly Homemakker" think about your typical 1950's housewife, highheels and dresses cooking dinner. Thats me.  We are trying to start a family so that i can be a stay at home mommy instead of just a housewife.  What i like, i a bit country. I grew up in wisconsin, and have always loved country music and a simple life style. I love garth brooks.   My inlaws live in Alaska and thats our plan as well, when hubby is done with college we will be moving to alaska ( 3 years) next summer in fact im spending 3 months there fishing.

What i like, country music, camping, crafting on a budget, and in general just family things, anything that ties me to my family is important to me.

What i do, i knit ( i say that generously because im a garter stitch scarf girl and thats about it), i love to buy books and recover them and repurpose them. I love to make macrame jewelry (hemp necklaces ect..)  I also want to start sewing and quilting again.

8  CRAFTY BUSINESS ADVICE / Selling Crafts on Etsy.com / Re: Maybe my etsy shop is cursed on: March 06, 2006 05:50:50 PM

9  CRAFTY BUSINESS ADVICE / Selling Crafts on Etsy.com / Re: 18 over for an etsy shop? on: March 06, 2006 05:46:55 PM
Well think about it like this techinically its a business, and in every state i know of you have to be 18 to own a business because of tax laws, because if you earn a certain ammount of money you must pay taxes on it, thats why you have to be 18. If your parents are willing to do the legal stuff and "own" your company everything must be done under thier names, however you can be the "face" of the company.
10  HOME SWEET HOME / Interior Decorating: Discussion and Questions / Blank Slate Craft Room on: March 06, 2006 11:19:12 AM
Well my husband love that man lol, said i can have "craft room" lol i put it in quotes because it must also house a tv, ps2, and futon, but other than that its all mine!

Heres my Glowfoto album that has pictures of the room http://www.glowfoto.com/users2/cebslb4ever/view.php?aid=5534

Okay heres what it has a closet which already has thanks to a great deal and great husband some hanging organizers for my yarns and fabrics, small things that will fit in the cubbies.  A window seat area, i really want to use this but im not sure how, it doesnt even have to be used as a widow seat, I love the view out of it and its a good natural light place.   A small section of wall next to the closet, i was thinking about the yard stick shelf just in 12in rulers instesad of yard sticks.

Heres what i have to furnish so far, a futon dark wood with a blue denim cover. 27 inch television on a medium darkness wood stand( can be replaced). I have 2 48'in brand new bookcases in a light wood color. Short enought to put stuff in and on top of, not to many books actually have to go in these, mostly playstation books and craft books.

What i would like to see/do.

I definitly want to use the denim blue on the futon as my tie together color, i want everything to have at least so tie to that color. I cant paint but i can hang things on the walls.  I want to have art work but mostly functional/decorative artwork.  I have large folding craft table that i only put out when i need it but i am thinking of getting something smaller to house a sewing machine and use for table top crafts. If you have ideas for that.

My style, im not into ikea stuff, mostly comfy warm colors. Nothing minimalistic.  I guess what im asking for is ways to  have functional useable artwork. I plan on using the room for sewing, knitting,bookmaking/reconning, jewelry making, and Using my laptop.

Also any ideas you have. This is the first house im actually decorating because we plan on staying here 3 years.
