ok.......so i've always wanted to make something for someone as a pressie...but never had the guts 1. coz i didnt know i they'd think it's cheap and 2. because my "creations" are poop on a stick!

so...........i made the butterfly for this a while back before i met her.....anyways, i thought it would be ideal for her as she likes pink and sparkley things, and i thought it would be a shame for it to go unused......so i added a simple bead bracelet to it.....and hey presto! here it is..............





i'm not sure if she'll like it, or what she'll think.....so i got her a big pressie to go with it (lots of lush bath goodies! because she luuuuuurves her baths! inc. are some pink glittery bath bombs teehee!)

it was really hard to capture on my cam.......i think it looks stunning in person just because the swarovski crystals sparkle so much! not because it looks good they really catch the light when put under a good one (not the kind in student digs haha!)

anyways........woul d like to know what you think.......be honest, it's more appreciated i'm giving it to her tomoz anyways so i'll let you know how it goes

basically i have to produce a research book for my fashion marketing degree which shows fashion from the 1950s, this is to help me produce a shirt/blouse with a 1950s influence (this doesnt mean i only have to look at shirts/blouses, i can look at anything from that era because i need to look at colours, patterns, fabrics etc...)

so anyway, i was wondering if any of you could help as i'm really struggling to find things where i live (Manchester, UK) if anyone from the UK (or anywhere else if you have info and they ship to the UK) knows any good shops/internet sites or something that may help......(the cheaper the better, as i'm a poor student now)

also, if anyone has anything from the 1950s (images etc) that they wouldnt mind sending my way, that would be great (you could just scan them and send them to me) or perhaps you were around in the 1950s and have some photos that you wouldn't mind sharing with me that show the fashions of that time, they would be sooooooo great!!! (people have used personal photos of family & friends etc in their research books in the past) or maybe you made something 1950s inspired of from a 1950s pattern that you wouldn't mind sharing with me

or perhaps you just have some info on fashions from that time, really, anything will do!! i'm really struggling to find anything where i live, i dunno if i'm just looking in the wrong places, but i just can't find anything, maybe it's because everyones so obsessed with that era right now that they've already snapped everything up haha!

my mums birthday is coming up on 2nd sept and i wanted to make her a cool cake....

this was my first/last attempt on mothers day....i was quite impressed seeing as it's the only cake i've ever made (and almost the only thing i've ever cooked hahaha!!)





but i'm feeling a bit more adventurous this time round and wanted to do some roses or something........if you have any other ideas for decorations then just post them....the more ideas you can offer, the better

i wanted to put some "art work" on some white canvas plimsolls/plimsoles BUT i don't know what to draw on the with....?

i was thinking maybe black fabric paint, but you have to use an iron to seal it don't you.....i don't really want my shoes to run  (sorry, that was really bad )

but in all seriousness!! has anyone tried this, and what did you use??? obviously i need somehting weatherproof and something that will stand up (no more puns intended ) after all, a shoe has a hard life...getting trampled on by mad shoppers etc.

any ideas appreciated

I wasn't 100% sure where to post this...but this seems like the most sensible place.

Anyway, I just saw this item on the news about a group of people in the UK that are recycling clothing and other items such as old curtains to make reusable bags. They are doing it in the effort to cut down on the amount of plastic bags we use.

After they make their bags they go out onto the streets and try and persuade shoppers to give up their plastic bags in return for a FREE reusable bag - they call this "guerilla bagging." It's quite small scale at the moment but every little helps

I'm not sure if this would have the same impact over in America though because from what I've seen you guys tend to use paper bags but I guess it could still work apparently people on etsy have joined in too

i don't know quite what to call it as i'm not really sure how to go about making it

basically, i wanted to make a moomin creature for my moomin on mothers day...i know it's a bit late (it crept up on me!!) but she can get it late because i've already got her a spa day....i'm nice like that

ok...so i've never made anything like this before, and i was thinking of making it out of felt...? but then i decided that i didn't really know what i was doing so i thought i'd turn to my fellow craftsters for some much needed help!!

so, any ideas how i could go about doing this??? remember i've not attempted anything like this before so i'm a complete newbie! so maybe if you thought of a pattern you could send me a copy

ok, so I wanted to put those really tiny playing cards you get in Christmas crackers to good use, so i thought, why not make jewellery out of them....

BUT

how do i go about weather-proofing them? I thought of varnish, but the cards are card material so they would probably go soggy. the only other idea i came up with is laminating them.....but i think that may look a tad tacky.

any ideas???

i've been trying to find kiwi fruit beads forever now and so far i have been unsuccessful! (i live in the UK)

so I was thinking maybe i should invest in some fimo and make my own...but i've never used this stuff before and i was wondering how easy it is to use....?

and whats a good price to buy it at...? (remember i live in the UK and most things are more expensive over here guys!! )

also, do you have any other ideas, or is this the best one??

its to have as my jewellery "tag" so to like go at the back of necklaces etc near the clasp....i was thinking maybe a butterfly instead seeing as that is the symbol in my logo and may look more sophisticated, but i like the kiwi idea.
