21  OCCASIONS AND HOLIDAYS / Winter Holidays / Vintage and Folk Inspired Felt Ornaments on: November 07, 2011 03:10:58 PM
When Halloween was over and all my decorations had gone back into their rubbermade homes.  I sort of got sad, but then I remembered that I had less then a month before I put up my Christmas tree!  So I pulled out my felt a whipped up some ornaments.
First, I made a round ornament and it reminds me of the old vintage glass ornaments my grandparents put on their tree.  I loved this one so much I am going to make a set of four for my grandparents for Christmas.

I love the look of Russian nesting dolls so I made two of those using shisha mirrors as the center medalian.

22  Halloween / Halloween Decor and Parties / Yay, Zombie Pumpkin! on: October 31, 2011 12:49:23 PM
So I usually do detailed pumpkins, but they are always from a still from a movie or someone else's illustration.  This year I decided I wanted to make a pumpkin from my own drawing.  I was working on an embroidery project with these zombie girls and they ended up looking better on a pumpkin.

I added red paint to the pumpkin, because you cannot have zombies without blood.

I used a giant white pumpkin and I swear I will never use an orange pumpkin again.
23  Halloween / Halloween Decor and Parties / Lock, Shock, and Barrel Halloween decoration on: October 27, 2011 07:24:14 AM
It's been some years since I was far enough ahead on my costume to make something for the yard.   Plus, add in my somewhat irrational fear of power tools.  I have been planning on doing this for at least two years, and last week I finally got started and found a jigsaw volunteer.  I'm pretty excited with how it turned out, but I did get a little carried away with the details.

Here it sits in it's rightful place with the haunted dry cleaning on the door.

This is the Tim Burton drawing I worked off for my piece.
24  JEWELRY AND TRINKETS / Trinkets and Jewelry: Completed Projects: General / X-Men Felt Embroidered Barrettes on: October 17, 2011 05:25:46 AM
So I liked my superhero barrettes a lot, and then my friend said that she wanted a Psylocke barrette.  I then played with some felt and came up with a some X-Men barrettes from her requests.  They are quite fun to make because there are so many different colors with X-Men.

From left to right:  Cyclops, Storm, Iceman, Rogue, Psylocke, and Wolverine

Iceman is my favorite!  The colors are quite pretty.

After learning a new shisha stitch technique, I wanted to make a Wonder Woman barrette and figured out a way to make a 5 pointed star.  Once I found a way to make the star work I started a Captain America barrette.

I love the Captain America one the most.

I am working on a couple X-Men barrettes for a friend now and having a blast with this.

28  JEWELRY AND TRINKETS / Trinkets and Jewelry: Completed Projects: General / Re: Ombre Headbands on: September 28, 2011 01:13:57 PM
I use headbands from the store.  Specifically, I use these Goody fabric covered headbands.
29  JEWELRY AND TRINKETS / Trinkets and Jewelry: Completed Projects: General / Ombre Headbands on: September 28, 2011 09:52:58 AM
I have been a busy bee lately.  I made some barrettes with the ombre look and felt that it would look even cooler on a head band.  I'm pleased with how this turned out.

This is my favorite headband that I have made so far.  I used little square mirrors and different colors of blue to create an ombre look.

30  CRAFTY BUSINESS ADVICE / Selling Crafts on Etsy.com / Re: How Much Variety? on: September 26, 2011 07:19:28 PM
I have been wondering about variey, too.  My store is new and my focus is hair accessories.  I do other things, so should I diversify my store?  I also wonder what sort of variety do other people have.
