1  Reversible Baby Dress and a Mei Tai Carrier in Clothing for Kids: Completed Projects by hi_abbott on: May 17, 2009 06:21:24 PM
So it seems that all of my friends are preggers and I am in need of baby shower gifts.  Since this is my closest friend, I went all out.  I'm actually still making stuff for the baby shower...  I made a reversible dress that suits the mother's style on one side and the father's style on the other (yet both coordinate very nicely).  I then made a mei tai to match.  I tested the mei tai with my very cooperative kitty, and then I washed it.  Enjoy!

2  New Pendants and Keychains (picture heavy) in Trinkets and Jewelry: Completed Projects: General by hi_abbott on: August 04, 2008 06:03:25 AM
So, I have been busy creating new items, and I hope you all enjoy them.  Most are made with Plexiglas and a lot of hard work (and a few minor mishaps...lol).  I also hammered some sterling silver for pendants.  I am very pleased with how these all turned out, and I hope you all like them too.

3  A baby gift fit for a teacher (picture heavy) in Baby Showers And Gifts For New Babies by hi_abbott on: June 19, 2008 07:29:16 PM
This is my second themed baby shower gift.  The mother to be is an English Teacher, and untraditional at that.  So, when she told me she was going to have a little girl, I knew I had to do something different.  Hope you all like!

4  dressed to succeed in Clothing: Completed Projects: General by hi_abbott on: June 18, 2008 07:50:22 PM
I've been on a sewing kick lately, and it's been for me!! That's a first, honestly.  Normally I'm making gifts for other people, as well as to sell, but I needed some new items for myself.  So here we go...

Item one is a skirt I wore for an interview this afternoon.  I needed something nice for this interview, but I didn't want to wear anything that I already owned.  I compromised with myself and just made a skirt.  I started last night, so I didn't have time to make a full outfit.

This next item is a sun dress I wore to a book q and a with Victoria Rowell.  It was a nice evening event, and the dress definitely stood out.

here it is with my sweater

The last item is a tank top.  I need more of these for the summer time, especially since I lost weight and nothing from last year fits right.  I figure since this is quite festive for the 4th of July, I will wear it at our family gathering with some skinny shorts.

and one with my pupdog because she's got the funniest reaction in this photo

5  Two cute new dresses (photo heavy) in Clothing for Kids: Completed Projects by hi_abbott on: May 13, 2008 07:48:57 PM
As promised from my last post, here are my two latest dresses.  The first dress is for a baby shower.  I went to college with this friend, and we were both in the English department.  I saw this fabric and thought it would be fitting.  The second dress was originally for the baby shower, but the dress ended up way too big.  I will be re-attempting a second dress for the baby shower, but not of this design (for once).  I do love making these little dresses.

6  Colt's Themed Baby Shower Gift Basket (picture heavy) in Baby Showers And Gifts For New Babies by hi_abbott on: May 06, 2008 03:25:31 PM
One of my guy friend's that I work with is expecting a baby (his wife is due real soon now), and he is an obsessed Colt's fan.  So obsessed his photo is on a banner in the new stadium.  So it was only fitting to create him a Colt's baby shower gift.

7  It's Hip to Be Square in Purses, Bags, Wallets: Completed Projects: General by hi_abbott on: May 06, 2008 02:10:18 PM
I have been having problems finding the perfect bag.  First off, I like them small.  And secondly, they have to protect my favorite sunglasses.  And it's an added bonus if they're nicely organized.  Well, I couldn't even find one that fit my criteria.  So, for a year I carried a modified sunglasses case, and that worked great but was falling apart.  I needed to make something, since no one else was designing something I liked enough to buy.

So, here is the finished product:

8  Birthday Dress in Clothing for Kids: Completed Projects by hi_abbott on: May 06, 2008 02:00:39 PM
My friend's little girl turns one at the beginning of June, so I thought I'd make her a dress.  I love making this pattern.  In fact, I'm working on two more for a soon-to-be mother, which I will post when I'm finished.  Anyways, I think that this dress turned out fabulous, and I can't wait until her mother gives me "modeling" pictures.

Enjoy!

9  bicycle jersey in Clothing: Completed Projects: General by hi_abbott on: May 06, 2008 01:48:56 PM
Hi everyone!  I recently bought myself a new mountain bike, so I thought I'd get myself a bike jersey.  Not only did I not find one that I thought was wonderful, but they were all $60 plus.  So, I set out to make one.  I didn't have a pattern, so I took a raglan sleeved shirt and made my own based off of that.  I added a zipper in the front, and a pocket in the back.  anyways, this is just the first attempt.

10  Re: Pictures of craft fair setup - Please post! in Tips for Participating in Craft Fairs by hi_abbott on: November 23, 2007 07:41:56 PM
I recently did my first craft fair at a smaller fall festival at a church.  I plan on doing a bigger show in April and will be making improvements to this set up.  At the show I was the most visited booth, and people hung around longer.  I don't know if I had the most profits, but I felt it was a success.  If you have any comments or suggestions, do tell!  anyways, on to the pics.

Hope you all enjoy!
