11  FIBER ARTS / Felting: Completed Projects / Re: Felted Pillow Covers on: July 16, 2009 06:54:33 PM
I think these are really beautiful.  Smiley
I love the simple, clean design aesthetic, that incorporates the use of negative space - I think small details on decorated pillows work best, so they can be functional as well as beautiful.
12  CLOTHING / Clothing: Completed Projects: General / Strawberry Queen apron and teatowel set on: July 16, 2009 05:21:06 PM

I made this apron for my friend in two nights. I used an apron of mine to get the basic size and rough shape and improvised like mad. Then I bullied (okay, so I actually said "I think you should decorate the teatowel" and he said "okay") my partner into decorating the teatowel to match - it was his first sewing project (other than hemming a curtain, one time).
I used calico as backing to make the red parts stiffer, and the strawberry applique has stabiliser on the back, and the green bit is hand-embroidered chainstitch.

The main inspiration was the fabulous red colour - nice and cheerful, since it's been a  wet and miserable winter here in Australia, and my poor friend's not been having fun lately - and the awesome strawberry print quilter's cotton. I'm terribly addicted to quilter's cottons, even though I don't quilt.  Roll Eyes The prints are just so awesome (if expensive - except when Spotlight has sales! Grin)
13  CLOTHING / Clothing for Kids: Completed Projects / Re: Embellished tank and jeans for a quick and easy outfit. Stashbuster! PICS! on: July 16, 2009 05:06:20 PM
I really love your style in all your stuff I see - and your daughter looks amazing, as usual! Supercute  Smiley
14  CLOTHING / Clothing: Completed Projects: General / Re: a nice summer dress on: July 16, 2009 02:24:03 AM
It looks like it fits you beautifully! (I was going to leave out the first bit, then I read your comments)
15  CLOTHING / Costumes: Discussion and Questions / Re: Bellydance costume makers, help please? on: July 14, 2009 08:52:37 PM
You might want some small pliers for when you're sewing through the bra too. It will help when your fingers get tired.

Seconded! Though I always just use a thimble to avoid blisters.  Smiley
16  MORE ART, LESS CRAFT / More Art, Less Craft: Discussion and Questions / Re: how to organize on: July 14, 2009 08:50:11 PM
...Wow.
I'm just gonna make... hmm, dog or elephant noises?... tough choice Roll Eyes

You may want to add what you don't want when asking for suggestions, twylag.

onceinlovewithAmy it works really well for me, because I now have several thousand photos, and if I'm searching for a certain one but don't remember the exact date I can usually remember if it came BEFORE this event or AFTER that one!  Smiley
17  MORE ART, LESS CRAFT / More Art, Less Craft: Discussion and Questions / Re: how to organize on: July 14, 2009 02:36:01 AM
My ex put me onto the best system for organising my mountain of digital photographs - organise them into folders by date. Sub-name each dated folder if they're special events. Smiley

BUT you have to write the date backwards - this way they are always displayed chronologically. (He was a bit anal about organisation).

Sooo... f'r instance, my phtos from the 25th December last year are labelled "20081225 [Morgan's First Christmas]" since it was my little boy's first Chrissy with us.  Smiley
18  CLOTHING / Clothing: Completed Projects: General / Re: Headbandified! on: July 09, 2009 05:51:33 PM
I LOVE that last one - the flowers wit the tails! It's so pretty. And the idea of the stitching attaching the fabric meandering and being decorative is really cool, too.
19  CITY GUIDES FOR CRAFTSTERS / AUSTRALIA / Re: Stitches and Craft Show - Sydney, August on: July 09, 2009 05:45:11 PM
I'm DEFINITELY going - just not sure if I'm carting my partner, Mother Outlaw and/or baby son up, as well.  Wink

I think TwoCheesePlease from Melbourne will be there, which makes me excited since I used to read her LJ when she was just beginning to sell. Grin
20  ORGANIZED CRAFT SWAPS / New Swap Theme Ideas / Re: Australia Only (Round Whatever)? on: June 28, 2009 09:25:15 PM
Hmm I'm thinking, if I organise this to be a small gift swap in the next week, sign-ups to close by the 14th of July, send-outs by the end of the month?
And I may make it a "Secret Santa in July"-esque thing, hey? What do people think?  Smiley
