1  No thanks, I brought my own bags in Purses, Bags, Wallets: Completed Projects: General by clovercloud on: March 04, 2008 11:08:21 AM
I finally got around to making my shopping bags!  These were made by mostly following queenofdiy's tutorial.

I made the blue superhero bag first, using a regular plastic bag as the template.  It's not as big, the stitches aren't as pretty but I did include the fold-in pocket so it carries around really easy.  Since this was to be the boyfriend's bag, it's didn't have to be pretty, just functional.  With the pink bags I regrouped and made some changes, making a sturdy template from a cereal box using the roomier target plastic bag.  After cutting out everything, I assembly-lined the shopping bags.  These don't have the pocket, since I used the extra fabric to make another bag instead.

I've taken them out to the grocery store twice now, and they can hold quite a lot.  Even with the heavy loads, they hold up well and don't cut into my fingers!  Even the boyfriend is a fan!

2  Pretty spring bag thanks to laurasaurus in Purses, Bags, Wallets: Completed Projects: General by clovercloud on: January 20, 2006 02:22:04 PM
Inspired by laurasaurus's tutorial in this thread: http://www.craftster.org/forum/index.php?topic=31017.0
I gave it a try. Her instructions were very easy to follow and now here's the result!

I did the bottom differently from what was done in the tutorial, which is why the gathering doesn't continue down to the end.  But I think it still came out nicely, no?

3  sweet mod tote in Purses, Bags, Wallets: Completed Projects: General by clovercloud on: January 17, 2006 01:00:57 PM
I adore Craftster for inspiring me to attempt sewing again.  I've kept things small to re-familiarize myself and focused on handbags.  Here's my first presentable one!

Its a little tote with 5 inch round handles.  The lining was really tricky as I picked a fabric that was too slippery to play nice with the feed dogs.   I hope y'all like!

EDIT:  Here's a better pic of the bag's colors and a shot of the lining.
