1  OCCASIONS AND HOLIDAYS / Misc. Gift Idea Brain Blockage / Sister's 18th Birthday on: September 28, 2006 03:03:39 AM
Hey, guys.

My younger sister is turning 18 soon, and I'm looking for ideas.  I want a really unique gift because 18's kind of a big deal.

She's in her senior year in high school and is really studious.  She's not much into fashion or shopping much although she does sometimes shop.  She's not much of a girly girl.  She likes to watch tv a lot.  She occasionally likes to do crafts- not specific things, just mess around with paint or whatever.  I haven't crafted her anything previously, but I do plan on making her a Harry Potter scarf with her initials double stitched on for Christmas.

Now, what I really want to do is something with a voting theme because she's 18 now.  I thought about making a "voter's kit", but I'm not sure exactly what to put in it.  I thought about putting in books from the gubernatorial candidates, but I don't know what else.  And I would like to craft something, not just give her books, but I'm stuck on ideas.  Maybe materials to make your own candidate buttons?  I can sew, knit, and do a bunch of miscellaneous things like scrapbooking, wood burning, painting, other decorative type stuff.  If any of you could help me brainstorm on this, I would really appreciate it, or if you have other suggestions, I'd appreciate it.
2  COOKING / Recipes and Cooking Tips / Dinner rolls? on: April 02, 2006 03:27:50 PM
Anyone have any good dinner roll or biscuit recipes?  I am just a roll and biscuit fiend, and I want to have some. Cheesy
3  TOYS, DOLLS AND PLAYTHINGS / Toys, Dolls and Playthings: Completed Projects / Felt Steve Perry on: March 15, 2006 11:10:31 PM
First post.  A friend is burning me all of Lost season 2, and he's also really into Journey.  So as kind of a "thanks" I made him this Steve Perry doll out of felt.  I've never done anything like this before.  (I mostly stick to cooking, knitting and sewing clothing).  What do you think?  Oh, he's bendable.

He's bendable because he's got wires inside.  Also, there is a nose there that you can barely see in the pictures.  It's the same flesh colored thread.  It shows up in real life.  So suitable "thank you"?

I think I'll make him a little mic...
