1  Re: Petticoat: Broadcloth or tulle/netting? in Clothing: Discussion and Questions by saralynne on: April 16, 2007 06:36:03 PM
saralyne: Do you mind posting photos of the petticoat you have if possible? I think once she sees what it looks like, she will make up her mind.

The approximate measurement around the bottom tier is 6 yards/216".

2  Sunset art quilt in Quilting: Completed Projects by saralynne on: April 03, 2007 08:53:17 PM
This is another art quilt/wall hanging for an art benefit I am participating in on thursday.

I am really happy with the way this turned out. The finished product is very very close to what I saw in my head before I started the project. It was inspired by a sunset I saw at my inlaws house a couple weeks ago.

The  black silhouette part is velveteen, the other fabrics are a mix of batiks, quilting fabric, and the part that is pink-white is a piece of white fabric I washed (accidentally) with something red and it ended up looking tie-dyed.  Wink The majority of the fabrics are from my stash. I used wonder-under to affix the pieces to the batting, then quilted it and the backing together. Its about 12" by 36"

3  Sweet Pea Shawl in green in Projects from The Happy Hooker by Debbie Stoller by saralynne on: April 03, 2007 08:40:50 PM
This is the Sweet Pea Shawl from the Happy Hooker. I left off the fringe and I think I like it better without it. This shawl went pretty fast, and I like the pattern because you really cant see the mistakes I made!
I used some recycled yarn from an old sweater. Its cotton/wool/something else.

4  Re: Handspun & Handcrafts Swap 2 Gallery in The Swap Gallery by saralynne on: March 24, 2007 08:19:01 PM
OK everyone I found my camera!

There are not words to describe the beauty of this yarn. I tried to photoshop it to get the colors right, but they're not exact. I have no idea what I'm going to make yet. I think for now I'm going to set them somewhere so I can look at them everyday. Thank you so much, maiziemama!  Grin If there is another round of this swap I will be the first to sign up.

I cant wait to see what everyone else receives. Right now I'm off to look at my new yarn some more.  Shocked

5  Mermaid Quilted wall hanging! in Quilting: Completed Projects by saralynne on: March 17, 2007 12:30:04 AM
AKA "How I keep out of trouble"

I've been wanting to make this for a while, but finally got some motivation because I've got space at an art show April 5th.

All the fabric (except the backing) is scraps I brought home from work (free!). The backing is actually a batik in shades of blue, not purple like it looks in the picture. The mermaid is fused and hand-stitched, everything else is machine sewn. It turned out to be about 36" square.

Finished

Finished close up (with backing- but the backing is more blue less purple)

Before finishing

ETA: I forgot to put the size.

6  Penguin Shirt Reconstruction in Clothing: Completed Projects: Reconstructed by saralynne on: March 06, 2007 07:27:48 PM
So I was thrift shopping for sweaters to recycle the yarn... and I found this huge turtleneck with the cutest penguins on it. I forgot to take a before picture. Oops. Here's the after pics:

I made the sleeves kind of pouffy and put a little band at the bottom of the sleeves, took in the sides of the shirt, and took the turtleneck off, shortened it to a normal tshirt collar size and reattached it. Hooray for my serger!

I've kinda just been sitting here on craftster since I got home from work and I felt like I needed to do something constructive. So I reconned a shirt from my to-do pile.

10  Autumn Bib Shirt (recon) in Clothing: Completed Projects: Reconstructed by saralynne on: February 22, 2007 05:51:13 PM
This shirt was originally a clearance turtleneck and a tshirt. It was incredibly easy.

I added some pintucks to the bib because all the brown just looked kind of plain.

I thought the print was really cute.

Detail the pintucks on the bib part:
