1  Re: Crafty Detective Round 7 in The Swap Gallery by valsped on: April 10, 2011 01:17:11 PM
I received from Teffy!
first up is the journal she hand bound. It has nice thick pages that I can paint on (or more likely collage on) I need to get into journaling more, so I needed it!

next is a group picture of the covered crochet hook (with a dragon tail!) and 2 friendship bracelets.  I am so happy that I have a bracelet to wear that won't cause a skin reaction!

last (but not least) are the tons of extras that she included!

from L to R: A crafters companion book, coca body butter, stickers for my son, a nice jingly hipscarf (should get me back to practicing my belly dancing!), a great pattern that includes skirt, dress, pants and a jacket!! and it will fit me!! A yummy car scent, that I LOVE (you are right is smells AWESOME!), And tinkerbell goodies (a scarf, 2 light up pens, and a book mark!)
Thank You TEFFY!

THANK YOU PEPPER ROSE!!!!
I'm finally home long enough to post pics of the great STUFFED flat rate envelope that Pepper Rose prepared for me!
First up, a group shot of everything!

since I know you can't see any details of the cool stuff she sent:
gobs of scrapbook and paper crafting goodies! I love the postage stamps, and clear stamps especially, but it is all wonderful!

Here is the bead/sewing category. It's all great, but check out the detail shot below for some of my absolute favorites (I couldn't get a clear picture of them to save my life!)

This last close up has my ABSOLUTE FAVORITE  items of the entire package!!! How did you know that I needed a way to display slips with show dates for my Pampered Chef parties? I've already done 1 show and used the stand and the cute curly paper clips! I didn't get nay bookings, but the display looked cute!

Thank you again Peper Rose! You must have done some stalking to know that the jacket pattern will fit me and that I LOVE bags! My mom calls me 'the bag lady' for a good reason and I can't wait to make one myself!

I got s great envelope STUFFED with goodies from Dyani a few days ago. Sorry it took so long to post pice, my best friend had her baby the other day and I have been super busy trying to help her out!

Pic of all the goodies!! Some AWESOME fabric... some of it was made from her boyfriends artwork! LOVE it! Even my 17 yr old step son saw it and said "that's cool, what are you going to make out if it (I might have to figure out something to make for him... small pillow maybe)!  Post cards from old movies, some sewing goodies, various papercrafting goodies, vintage ephemera, a mousie pattern, and last but not least... a pretty black flower pin and TWO, YES TWO!!! stets of wool roving and soap for felting!!

Here is a closer shot of the sweet fabric! I accidentally cut off the green patterned one, but I wanted to be sure you could really see the 2 with women on them!
Thank you very much Dyani! I can't wait to finish the swap I'm working on so I can play with some of the goodies you sent! Smiley

4  First REAL sewing project: Baby Gi in Clothing for Kids: Completed Projects by valsped on: February 21, 2011 09:57:38 PM
I will replace silly stuffed animal pics with proper action shots as soon as I have a life sized model to show them off on!

I was totally inspired by this rockin' gift: http://www.craftster.org/forum/index.php?topic=364807.msg4284066#msg4284066 by Muddlepud!
My BFF is really into Karate as is her whole family. She is 9 mo pregnant and still doing class once a week! They have been teasing her that the way the baby kicks and as much as she is around the DoJo that she is going to come out a black belt...
So when I saw the baby gi I just had to send her the link! She then insisted that this baby MUST have one and if I couldn't make it she would buy one! I couldn't find one at a reasonable price (she might wear it for a month before she grows out of it) and I wanted to practice sewing anyway.

The top is just a wrap around Gerber shirt (with mitten sleeves only because I couldn't find any others) with a black belt that I made from some scrap salvaged from my step mom's bin. It is sewn on in the back.
The pants I made from a white men's T-Shirt and this pattern http://www.make-baby-stuff.com/baby-yoga-pants.html

We're both glad Shane liked his goodies!
I finally got to use my friend's camera to take pictures of Alex with the great package he got from Kaiser. (I'll have to have him send a personal thank you to him after VBS tonight)
First up is an AWESOME dolphin shirt! I had to take it away and hide it so he wouldn't wear it and get it dirty before I got a picture!

Alex ADORES his stuffed puppy, he has carried it around most of the weekend!

Here he is showing off his tote bag.  He loves that it has his full name on it, and is debating what he should use it for.... library...toys.... How about just everything!

He insisted on a shot with everything in it!

Finally one last pic.... All the GREAT 'extra' goodies Kaiser sent along:

a spiderman notebook, cool colored pencils (that he might have to hide from me), a stamper set, a snake that he loves, and cool spiderman stickers.

THANK YOU KAISER!!!

6  Re: Decorate My Themed Room Swap (Send by 08/03/09.) in ARCHIVE OF SWAPS THAT ARE TOTALLY FINISHED by valsped on: July 10, 2009 12:47:23 PM
I never did post pics of my room/s.... so I guess better late than never.
Any design advice would be much appreciated!
The area that needs the most improvement is the kitchen/dining room:

this was before we moved in (in fact it's the pics the rental company took) and I ADORE the basics, but don't know really how to accessorize it.
The one thing that MUST stay is this beauty it's a family joke/tradition thing and I actually do kind of like it.
I DO NOT want the whole cutesy country/barn look though (the outside of my house looks like a barn, so that's enough farm yard for me... NO CHICKENS/GEESE/PIGS!!!) I also like these things (the rack and the vase, not so much the owl spoon rest) but I wish my spices were all pretty. I did find some cute tins (top row) at Wally world that fit perfectly, but I can't just trash all my spices and get new ones cause the containers look good in my kitchen!
I don't like this curtain either, and you can see the light well:
this is a close up of the counter: I think it's my favorite thing about my kitchen! I MUST find a solution for this: my "pantry" under the stairs.
this is the attached dining area and these are the ugly curtains in the dining room (and living room too)
Thanks in advance for any advice/ ideas!!
My bathroom needs help too, but I'll save those pics for another post!

OK Here goes.... attempting to post the pics of my awesome goodies (taken with my son's camera) I just have to repeat that HNGOODLETT is awesome!
first up we have a shot of the 2 AWESOME art rolls/bags she sent for my sons and I.

here's a shot of silly boy showing off his batmam bag with colored pencil slots

(his arms are like that cause he wanted to show how much he could fit into it and look like he's flying.)
next I had to include the shot of the inside of my SWEET Care Bear roll.... she included sharpies for me!! (btw... Alex says he should get this one too cause it matches his blanket... I don't think so buddy! This one is MaMa's!)

Here's a shot of my railing modeling the skirt... she was worried that I wouldn't like it Shocked... she's right I FREAKIN LOVE IT!!!  Grin

ok ok I know you want to see it... the shot of me wearing it... excuse the pasty legs and storm messed deck (I can't figure why it's hanging at a weird angle... maybe cause I have to loose a few pounds before it zips all the way, or possibly DH's photog skills!
Here's a group shot of the 4 perfect coasters made for my new living room (forest theme) They are beautiful! Excuse DH's arm

Here's a close up of 2 of them so you can see how pretty they are
How rockin' is this mario shroom on a warp pipe? She said all her geeky friends love it and she might need to make more... I can see why!
My sons and I are still fighting on where it will live!
Finally we have the "extra goodies" that she spoiled me with.
My favorite extra has to be the organic basil kit the directions and info are printed on paper with the seeds inside! Seems pretty idiot proof, so I hoe I won't kill it!
Can you guess what happened to the chocolate... he tried, but I'm faster
these are some plant/herb markers for my garden and a GREAT headband... I think I'll wear it to work tomorrow!

finally I took a shot of how she revealed herself...
all her notes were on paint chips that matched the items! How clever!!!
I'm SO grateful for everything and LOVE it all!
Thanks again HNGOODLETT!!

8  Re: Quick Dreadlock Swap - SIGN UPS CLOSED, Send out 3/15 in ARCHIVE OF SWAPS THAT ARE TOTALLY FINISHED by valsped on: February 17, 2009 06:07:07 PM
I don't have dreads either, but I sure LOVE making wool ones!! Anybody need some woolies??
here's an OLD pic of my Step-Brother and his son (in the hat I made him for 1st christmas)

just cause he's SSSOOO adorable... here's a better one of baby:

close up of the baby hat: Next time I'll make more to cover the hat better (I totally ran out of 2 colors of wool 1/2 way through) and for an adult or older child I woud make them longer (had to keep 'em short so he wouldn't be as tempted to yank the hat off!)

a shot of the lame set I made for myself (still can't figure out how to make a good set of falls once I have the dreads made!) but the little one sure looks cute!
