1  Halloween / Halloween Decor and Parties / Hi-ho, Kermit (and Derek Jeter) the Jack-o-Lantern Here! on: November 01, 2008 10:09:49 AM
I love all things Muppets, so I decided to do a Kermit the Frog pumpkin this year. It was a pretty simple pattern other than rigging up a way to get the pupils of his eyes to look right without any visible support. (Invisible thread FTW!)

I also did a Derek Jeter pumpkin, because I'm a huge baseball nerd. It's not the greatest likeness but hey, three people recognized it! (I did Conan O'Brien last year and no one recognized him!)

2  MORE ART, LESS CRAFT / More Art, Less Craft: Completed Works / Macro Photo Challenge: Turtle Power on: April 22, 2008 09:22:36 PM
A while back, I took a cinematography class and had to do a project where I told a story through a series of still photographs. This was my favorite of all the shots - the story was that my Raphael action figure was navigating the wild of my bookshelf in order to get my ipod.

If you'd like to see the entire photoset, here's a slideshow:

3  PAPER CRAFTS, SCRAPBOOKING & ATCs (ARTIST TRADING CARDS) / Paper Crafts: Completed Projects: General / The New Jersey Box - lots of pictures on: January 27, 2008 02:57:55 PM
I made this box as part of my sister's Christmas present - New Jersey in a box. It was quite an undertaking.

The top. The hole in the middle is actually a clear piece of plastic, and the "NEW JERSEY" lettering is inspired by a font from the cover of a Bon Jovi album. And of course, lots of tomatoes!

Here are two signs familiar to anyone who's ever passed through the Garden State - signs for the Turnpike and Parkway.

Goin' "down the shore." The boardwalk is composed of lots of individual pieces of paper to represent boards, the roller coaster is a sticker, and the sand is sandpaper.

Two of NJ's most famous musical exports, Bon Jovi and Bruce Springsteen, with an iconic guitar representing each. The guitars were the most involved part of the whole box, but they are definitely my favorite. The one on the left is inspired by one that Bon Jovi's guitarist Richie Sambora used in the 80s and the one on the right is an attempt to replicate (dents and all) the guitar that Bruce Springsteen is holding on the "Born To Run" album cover.

Zach Braff, with a line from his Saturday Night Live monologue last year (in which he extolled the virtues of New Jersey)... and more tomatoes!

Finally, the inside, which is lined with an old NJ road map.

I've got some x-acto knife and hot glue gun battle scars, but it was worth it because she absolutely loved it.
4  Halloween / Halloween Decor and Parties / The Conan O'Lantern on: October 30, 2007 11:05:35 PM
So I was perusing this (http://pumpkinglow.com/Patterns.htm) website when I found a pattern that I absolutely HAD to carve this Halloween. Ladies and gentlemen....

The Conan O'Brien O'Lantern!
5  IMAGE REPRODUCTION TECHNIQUES / Stenciling: Completed Projects / 90210 Pillowcase on: August 19, 2007 12:03:38 PM
This is nearly a year late, but better late than never! I stenciled a Beverly Hills 90210 pillowcase for my sister for this past Christmas. She absolutely adores Jason Priestly, so one side of the pillowcase has Brandon Walsh himself, and the the other has the BH 90210 logo.

She was quite happy with her present.

6  IMAGE REPRODUCTION TECHNIQUES / Stenciling: Completed Projects / Law & Order T-Shirt on: February 03, 2007 02:42:55 PM
Hey everyone!

I've been lurking in this forum for quite some time now, and I have to say that all these stenciled things are awesome!

Here's my own contribution to the awesomeness, inspired by my love of original flavor Law & Order - because who doesn't love Jack McCoy?

Here's the shirt in all it's glory:

And here's a closeup:

I made the stencil using a picture from Brandon Bird's Law & Order coloring book - I highly recommend his website (http://www.brandonbird.com) for L&O fans.
