1  "Corn" on the Cob! in Halloween Costumes by dollmaker on: November 03, 2009 06:26:57 PM
My husband's last name is Cornwall (I didn't take his last name) Everyone we know calls him "Corn" or some variation of that (ie: cornbread, cornmeal, corndog, corn on the cob....you get the picture) It's pretty funny (most of the time)! Especially coming from my brother who has been his best friend since the 2nd grade!!

Anyhoo, We had our 3rd child 6 months ago and "ding" ..great idea let's make him a mini "Corn" on the Cob.........
This is Jax Finley Hawkes-Cornwall              ...whatta name right!! he's our little "niblet" !!

So, cute....you can see on the right, a wet spot near his arm where he was just trying to eat himself!

There's the back, the bottom actually sits under his bum cheekys, but my mom was getting ready to burp him so it wasn't on him right. It's just a "Corn Husk" vest.

Action shot....Trick or Treating with all the kids.

We had a huge B-day/Halloween Party for our daughter, followed by trick or treating at my mother-in-laws house...Fun Fun all around!

Thanks Cristina

3  Faux Mustachios in Toys, Dolls and Playthings: Completed Projects by dollmaker on: October 04, 2009 01:36:38 PM
These are playthings in my house so I guess I'll post them here!
I saw something like this here on Craftster and I had to make some for my kids !! (although, truthfully my husband and I wear them more I think!!!)

Rai and Soren........they love these so much...aren't they fun?!?!?!?!  Rai wore hers to Wal-Mart the other night!

I made them reversible, so the handlebar mustache is brown and black....and the one that looks like a comb is dark gray and light gray!! There just held on with thin elastic.  Cheesy

Jax ........this photo got the best responses on my Facebook page!!! Isn't it funny!

Thanks, Cristina

4  Truth Spirit Totem in Toys, Dolls and Playthings: Completed Projects by dollmaker on: October 04, 2009 01:28:34 PM
I really love this doll and I had originally wanted to make several more based on other emotions or morals.

She has a very native American look to her.

She is suppose to look like the Crone....because she is wise....her legs are a cobweb fabric for the old adage "O, what a tangled web we weave, When first we practice to deceive." by Sir Walter Scott. And I made her in all blue.....because blue is thought to be the color of communication. (blue throat Chakra, blue stones are thought to bring about better communication.) and in telling the TRUTH, we need to communicate more!!

I just love her sweet old face!!

Thanks, Cristina

5  Buxom Fairy in Toys, Dolls and Playthings: Completed Projects by dollmaker on: October 04, 2009 01:17:47 PM
So this is my Buxom Kitchen Fairy....(she previously hung from the main light in my kitchen.) Now she's my Studio Fairy!!

Her skin is muslin that I did a purple paint wash on, then splatter painted it with darker purple. Her wings are this really cool batik-looking fabric with gold lightening bolts across it! It's super cool!! and there flexible.

(nice cleavage hun!)

Pic of her underside......I have made sure that her lady bits, were covered up as she does hang from a 12 foot ceiling and I wouldn't have wanted her to be embarrassed!!  Grin

6  Dragon in Toys, Dolls and Playthings: Completed Projects by dollmaker on: October 04, 2009 01:00:37 PM
I made this forever and a day ago........I love him, but he did take 6 months on and off to make. The pattern is from Melinda Small Paterson.

He has some very thick wire clothesline through his entire body to give him shape and his tail is filled with poly-pellets. I used some wool yarn scraps my Mom gave me for the Hair and goatee and fabric puff-paint for his little silvery bumps......I think he looks awesome!

Thanks for looking!

7  Engagement Ring design in Weddings and Bridal Showers by dollmaker on: July 12, 2008 11:09:56 AM
I was surprised yesterday by my fiance of 1 1/2 months....he gave me an engagement ring...not just any ring either......( I am so proud of him!!) he designed it and had a local jeweler make it for me!!! I must admit that I feel very special !!

So even though he didn't make it by hand, this is his design and I wanted to show the design off !

The stone:

The side view....don't you love the butterfly!!! I do!

8  Roasted Chicken in More Art, Less Craft: Completed Works by dollmaker on: May 24, 2008 01:37:09 PM
1st let me say that this is my first post in over a year. Crazy I know !! Lot of life changes. However I think that my art has grown because of it. I hope I am remembering how to do this correctly !!  Tongue

Tada !! This is a collage of my delicious boyfriend Alan Thomas ! (He loves it when I use his middle name ! Tongue ) He has an internal temp of 4000 degrees. He is always so warm. Which is nice because I am always so COLD (brrrrrr) So I call him my little oven & say that he must have a roasted chicken in his belly !! Retarded I know, but we think it's funny.

It has a shrinky dink anatomically correct heart, a scrumptious cupcake, the word yummy by his mouth because he says that ALL the time, glitter socks (just cause) & cable fittings....because yes you guessed it...he is a cableman !! He is also making a kissy face...(puckering)...I think it's so cute so he does it all the time !! Gosh can you tell that I am in love or what !!!!!  Roll Eyes

And me ......

Kissing him right back....oddly enough in Zombie makeup....(We had a photo shoot earlier in the day)
