1  Re: 4x6 art swap rd 2 **gallery!** in The Swap Gallery by aliastriona_angerboda on: May 24, 2012 09:48:57 PM
I received a piece done with hand-carved stamps from IdlersDesign!

It says

A picture is worth a thousand words. -Napoleon

on the left. And on the right it's

A picture is a poem without words. -Horace

The peacock stamp is absolutely gorgeous, and I love all the little bits of gold...thank you, IdlersDesign!

2  Re: 4x6 Art swap Gallery of Greatness! in The Swap Gallery by aliastriona_angerboda on: April 06, 2012 01:32:53 PM
I received from mouseatethekitty! It could not be more perfect...I'm trapped inside on a very grey and damp day, sad because I can't go out and indulge my gardening obsession by playing in the dirt, and what arrives in my mailbox?

Amazingness, posing on my new favorite pink skirt.

I love it. By feel (and sound, if that makes sense), I'm gonna go with it being polymer clay, my lovely partner will have either confirm or deny that. It has texture, and sparkle, and rich, saturated colors, it's just a whole bunch of awesomeness in a little 4x6 rectangle Grin

Shiny detail shot:

Love love love <3 Thank you so much, mouseatethekitty, and to belladune and alteredmommy for running such a fantastic swap!

And so I'm not just whining...fun with acrylic paint! More anatomical stuff paired with obnoxiously bright colors, it's becoming a thing.

Anybody got any inspiration to share? I'm stuck. It's not speaking to me anymore.

And that's a horrible 1:30AM picture, ha. It looks so dull, compared to the real thing.

It probably needs something purple.

Thanks, vampedangel! I love that technique (even when the hole-punching gets tedious and my fingers get gluey). It feels really cool under your fingers, and it looks very mosaic-y when the light catches it from an angle.

Here's a bit of what I've got so far. The skeleton was done during our hurricane power-outage, and the paisley-ish stuff was added today. Yes, these things totally go together in my head.

My original plan for the bones was cream, brown, and black, but I couldn't find my brown paint, so it's cream, metallic gold, and black. I really like the hints of shimmer in the skeleton (and there's an in-progress page later in the book, same paints, of the muscles in the back of the hand). The green, yellow-green, and silver in the paisley are also metallic.

The blue stuff along the edges is dye, I held the pages closed and dripped it all along the outside of the book, so little splashes and streaks appear randomly throughout.

This is a part of my paint chip collection, a hole puncher, and lots of glue.

There's all sorts of numbers, partial words, and bits of cartoon characters spread throughout.

I'm not one for doing planned-out spreads, I tend to just constantly add little things here and there as I feel like it, so there is no telling what these pages will end up looking like in a few months. Or if I'm gonna figure out a way to tie it all together, ha.

9  Re: Show Off Your Hair--Dyed, Cut, or Styled by Yourself! in Bath and Beauty: Completed Projects by aliastriona_angerboda on: April 21, 2010 09:16:32 PM
This thread is awesome...I love seeing what brilliant things people can do to their hair!

My hair is naturally a medium-dark brown, not bad just kinda boring:

I finally got brave enough to attack it with some bleach, just the shorter parts in the front plus a longer section on the right:

I liked it so much I left it that way for a bit, until...

I finally moved on to fulfilling my childhood dream of having hair just like Ariel from "The Little Mermaid" Cheesy

That was back in October. These days I'm only dyeing part of the right side red, 'cause I like the mix of red, brown, and weird orangey-blonde.

(I'm also in the bad habit of not wearing gloves when dyeing yarn, oops.)
