hi everybody!  i recently acquired my very first sewing machine, and i'm quite excited!  it's a hand-me-down from my stepmother-in-law, and it's a white deluxe brand machine, model #1505.  it's an older machine, but i still think it's quite nice.  all i have is the machine, the power cord, and the pedal-- that's it.  no manual or accessories... but apparently the machine can do a "zigzag" stitch, which was a big selling point when my stepmother-in-law purchased it.

i can't wait to start sewing, but i'm not quite sure where to begin.  would you lovely folks be able to offer me advice on good learn-to-sew websites or books?  what sorts of parts and accessories do i need to get started, aside from the obvious thread and fabric?  is "white" a good brand of sewing machines?
