11  KNITTING / Knitting: Discussion and Questions / Re: Textile Portfolio....driving me loco on: January 08, 2006 12:35:58 PM
heya,
I bought an embroidery portfolio with lots of pockets; a scrapbooking organizer would work well too.  I used different kinds of photo/cd inserts (clear plastic pockets) and scrapbooking pockets inside the binder section of my portfolio.  I hope this helps!!!! xoxomo

Halifax S&B is still on every Wed. 7-10 at Uncommon Grounds, Victoria rd and South Park.  Attendance is spotty at best (I havn't been in 2 months b/c of nite classes) but I'm drawing up some posters and will post them soon now that everyone is settled in after back to school and such.  I hope that helps!!!
I really want to get up to the One World group soon!

I also wanted to announce that the 2nd Unique Fashion Bonanza is happening at the Khyber Nov.5th.  I will post again sooner to, when we have our website up and running.  There will be knits, punk/goth clothing, handbags, boho shawls, beaded jewlery, yoga accessories a DJ and door prizes! (and otheer stuff I can't think of right now) Any questions, please message me at my blog.  I would love to meet some craftster ladies!
15  KNITTING / Knitting: Discussion and Questions / Quick Fast Cheap Tops on: October 16, 2005 12:30:02 PM
heyall,
I'm getting ready for a show and sale nov.5.  Last time around I did really well selling hats, cozies and more hats.  Now our show is bigger and its xmas shopping season and I've made hats, scarves, cozies, headbands, fingerless gloves, capey-collars and more hats.
I feel like this time I need some more substantial garment like things (ie shrugs, boleros, tops, items that aren't strictly accessories) but they really can't take too long, and can't look like things you could get in a shop.
I'm thinking a little more than a OSW but less time than a Minisweater-something I could make a pile of and then embellish differently.
Any ideas?  You will be saving me from sleepless nights drinking and googling "un lame shrug" and "rip off anthropologie w/ a giant guage" lol.
Thank you in advance!!!!
16  KNITTING / Knitting: Discussion and Questions / Re: Knitting Blog Events/Contests on: October 16, 2005 12:18:39 PM
hmmm well, at first I was thinking that we should just post about events on our own blogs, but your post had things I hadn't seen before-I just signed up for the mystery shawl thing!
So, lets post happenings at our own blogs, and anything really unique we find happening around the web.  cool?

17  KNITTING / Knitting: Discussion and Questions / Knitting Blog Events/Contests on: October 15, 2005 10:33:38 PM
Hey ladies,
I LOVE when blogs have contests or KALs and things but I am always late to the party!
Maybe we could start posting them here so clever craftsters can have a crack?  Good Idea?
Well I will get things started by posting a link to a contest I'm trying to hold at my blog.....I think maybe it's too hard.
You have to name the person in the photo (a person who is wearing a hat I made).  It might be easier for Canadians but you craftster ladies and gents are clever!!
Here's the link:
http://pomoboho.blogspot.com/2005/10/pride-of-nova-scotia-i-have-prize-for.html
Give it a stab and maybe (hopefuly!!) win a prize!  Even if you have no clue who/what it is, the photo is a hoot!
ps Maybe we could post webring and charity info in this thread too?! yee haw!
18  KNITTING / Knitting: Discussion and Questions / Re: reviews of "Knitting On/Over the Edge"? on: October 15, 2005 10:19:36 PM
I was REALLY disappointed by Over the Edge.  A lot of it is intarsia motifs (of ducks no less) and not really the 'edging' I was hoping for.  On the Edge however is one of my all time favorite knitting books.  It so inspiring!! A warning though; there are a lot of errata (even in the pattern for the cover feature oops!) so be careful!  hope that helps!
19  KNITTING / Knitting: Discussion and Questions / Re: help with project ideas please??? on: October 15, 2005 10:14:09 PM
what about something for your house like a pillow?  Or a lace trim for something you already have.  If you want to make it streach, you could use it for a panel, or an insert in a shawl....??
20  KNITTING / Knitting: Discussion and Questions / felting duplicate stitch on: October 14, 2005 11:03:51 AM
if i duplicate stitch a motif onto a base knit of the same wool, with the duplicate stitches felt along with the base and look consistant or should I felt and then needle felt the motif ontop? wow that was a long sentence! thanks!\
