2  Craft Swaps / ARCHIVE OF SWAPS THAT ARE TOTALLY FINISHED / Disposable/Digital/Film Camera Swap Round 7 - SENDOUTS 5/12/10 on: April 07, 2010 07:50:54 AM
ATTENTION ALL!!  NEW SENDOUT DATE - MAY 12th!!!!

Swap name: Disposable Camera Swap Round 7
Craftster member who is organizing this swap: Bethiej78
Sign-up date range: 4/7/10 - 4/14/10
Date to send item by: 5/12/10
Limited to a certain number of people? (optional): No
Restricted to people who all live in the same country? No
Age requirement? 16

Co-organizer found!  Thank you, phoenixfiredesigns!

Details of Swap:
Do you love seeing new places and things but don't have the money or time to travel as much as you wish? Do you enjoy seeing how other people live?  This swap is for you!  Grab that camera and start snapping pictures of your home town, your vacation spot, anything interesting around, whatever you want!  Then you will swap with your partner 24 (or more if you wish) pictures and a crafted frame!

In this swap you will be required to take at least 24 shots AND craft a frame. We will also be sorting participants into film (disposable or roll) and digital groups.

Here are the rules:
1. The minimum number of photographs to take is 24 pictures, although it is between you and your partner should you wish to take more.
2. The frame can be an altered store-bought frame or a fully-crafted frame.
3. If you are going digital, you must print copies of at least 24 of your photos.  It is also helpful to get your pictures put on a cd and then send it along with the prints!
4. You must post at least 3 of your received photographs in the swap gallery to share with others. The whole point of this swap is to see all the cool, different pics of where and how everyone lives.  So posting pics is SUPER important!  If you are unable to post pictures, please DO NOT sign up for this swap!!
5.  Please bookmark this thread or post here. All updates will be made here and this will help you to keep up with everything.
6.  You are required to send a Delivery Confirmation (DC) or a proof of posting (for non-US nationals) for this swap. PM me and your partner with your DC number when you send and again PM us when you receive. You will not receive feedback until after your partner has received.

Here are some helpful tips from past rounds:
1. Please do not only send pictures of people, try to vary your photos but above all try to accommodate your partner's tastes.
2. When developing the film, ask them to scan to CD as well. Its a few dollars more and saves you the task of scanning the prints yourself.
3. If you upload photos to an online gallery (photobucket/flickr/etc), why not add the link to your gallery posts so we can see your photo-booty.
4. Please also post at least once a week in this thread to let me know you're alive.

NOTE: if shipping to another country, PLEASE mark package "contains film, DO NOT X-RAY" to avoid the film spoiling.

Sendouts will be Saturday, May 1, 2010.

4  ORGANIZED CRAFT SWAPS / New Swap Theme Ideas / Calling All Nerdy Craftsters! PAX East Swap Meetup? on: March 03, 2010 07:46:51 AM
Hello my fellow craftsters!  I love crafting, and I love swaps.

In addition, as I'm sure many of you can relate to - I am a HUGE NERD.  I love comic books, and Joss Whedon, cowboy bebop, the IT crowd and miyamoto, and games games games of any and all varieties (tabletop, console, computer, etc).  I know every word to the movie hackers, own at least four nintendo shirts, have donated to child's play, have called people noobs after killing them with a headshot in counterstrike source, have once played a 14 hour game of runebound, and so on and so forth.

Therefore, it is only natural that this March (26th-28th to be precise) I will be attending the Penny Arcade Expo East, otherwise known as PAX!!!  Run by the dudes who write Penny Arcade - one of the funniest and longest running web comics ever (entirely dedicated to nerdity btw) - PAX East is likely to be a humungous confluence of awesome.

So what I'm hoping is that there are some other craftsters out there as nerdy as me, who have also decided to trek up, over, or down to Boston for this sweet convention.  If so, I thought we could all put our crafting skills and nerdity into a winning combo and craft stuff to exchange (in person, whoa!) at PAX East.  It would be great to meet some fellow craftster nerds, and even better to be able to take something I love (swapping) and get to meet the faces on the other side of the computer.

Anyways, hit me back, theoretical PAX-attendees! Smiley

Shay8317 needs 1 Angel - Scatter Kincaid will send

I feel really bad, her partner was giving us the run around for more than a month after the send-out date, and Shay has been really patient.  All you need to do is take 1 roll of pictures on a disposable camera, decorate or purchase a frame, and send out!  I'd really appreciate anyone who could help out!!  I'll PM you her info once you let me know you can angel.  Thanks!!!
6  ORGANIZED CRAFT SWAPS / Talk About The Swap Process / Negative Feedback for Something Other than Missing Sendouts on: December 11, 2007 06:13:49 AM
As organizers, are we allowed to give someone negative feedback if there were 'requirements' to the swap other than sending, that they didn't fulfill?  I'm thinking no, but I would really like to in this case!!   Angry

I have a swapper who:

1) didn't post ONCE in the signup or gallery thread (even though i told everyone they should so they could keep up with updates)

2) NEVER PMed me to tell me she sent or received, didn't answer ANY of my PMs, even up to the point where, more than a week after sendout when i hadn't heard from her i posted that i was going to give her negative feedback and seek out an angel (at which point her partner, a real sweetheart, PMed me to say that she had rec'd her package)

3) still has not posted pictures of what she's recieved (in the case of this swap, the disposable camera swap, the pictures are of the pictures) which in the opening post i said was a requirement of the swap, and that people's positive feedback was contingent upon posting pictures...i specifically said - DO NOT SIGN UP IF YOU CANNOT SCAN OR POST PICTURES.

This girl has gone above and beyond (or in this case below and unbeyond) the call to communicate and be cooperative.  She was the "anti-communicator."  And her partner worked hard on the pictures just to have her partner not post them.  It really frustrates me.  I'd like to give her negative feedback, but I'm not sure I should since she did actually send her package, which is the most important requirement.

Should I give her negative feedback?  Or should I give her postitive feedback but in the comments write "Did NOT communicate, DIDN'T post pictures!!"

What do you think?
7  PAPER CRAFTS, SCRAPBOOKING & ATCs (ARTIST TRADING CARDS) / Paper Crafts: Discussion and Questions / Fancy cupcake wrappers - how did they do this? on: December 06, 2007 01:41:33 PM
Beautiful cupcake wrappers (no longer a detriment to your lovely baking in boring pastels).  A genious idea to have them themed.  I wish there were any easy way to DIY them.

Additional Rules:
1.  Please bookmark this thread or post here. All updates will be made here and this will help you to keep up with everything.  I anticipate a large number of participants so I will not send out PMs with updates, I will just post here.
2.  PM me and your partner with your DC number when you send.  PM me and your partner when you receive, and please thank your partner.  You will not receive feedback until after I know your partner has received.
3.  The whole point of this swap is to see cool pics of where everyone lives.  Thus, posting pictures when you receive is of TANTAMOUNT importance.  If you are unable to post pictures, please DO NOT sign up for this swap!!

Details of swap:
Want to see new places without leaving your town?   Appreciate good photos as art? Perfect. This will be a pretty simple swap. All you need to do is get either a disposable camera or a roll of film (or use your digital camera), and fill it up with pictures of your town/city! Then you send the
(1) undeveloped roll of film or camera with AT LEAST 24 pictures (or email/send CD of the digital files) and
(2) a decorated/reconned picture frame.
It can be totally crafted or bought and decorated, that's totally up to you.   We'll be split into two groups, one for digital peeps and one for the film traditionalists.

Now just wait to get your package & go get the pictures developed! The only requirements for the pictures are
(1) that you don't just take pictures of people you know and
(2) that after you receive them, you get a copy on CD (just a couple dollars more) to share in the gallery (or use your scanner to scan in developed pics). And that's it!

NOTE: if shipping to another country, PLEASE mark package "contains film, DO NOT X-RAY" or the film will be ruined.

Sendouts will be Friday, November 30th.  This allows for 3 weeks to take one roll of film, which should be plenty of time.
