91  MISCELLANEOUS TOPICS / Discussion and Questions / Re: Rollerskating theme pin craft for 6-8 yr olds? on: March 01, 2006 03:02:28 PM
Those are both great ideas.

Pibbgirl, I had forgotten all about shrinky dinks. Man, I used to love doing those when I was a kid!   Grin

smrfchic, I would love any info on links or other resources for scouting. I kind of fell into this leader thing and I still have a lot to learn. We do collect dues but only $1 per girl at each meeting. Until we get our cookie money, that's all we have to work with, so I really appreciate finding crafts and activities that we can do for little $$! Thanks for the link for Joann's, I didn't have a card, but I will now!  Grin

Hi all, this is my first post here. I'm just starting out as a leader for my Daughter's Brownie troop and am trying to come up with an idea for a SWAP. A SWAP is a small craft that can be pinned onto a hat, jacket, etc. The girls in each troop make them and then exchange them with girls from other troops (kind of like friendship pins, if any of you all are old enough to remember when those were hot). We are trying to organize a rollerskating outing with a couple of other troops from their school and I thought it would be fun for the girls to make a skating-themed pin to exchange with the other girls. With all of the talent I see on this board, I'm hoping one of you will have some ideas that we can use.  Smiley

Some additional info: there are 8-10 girls in each troop, ages 6-8 and they need to be able to do the craft mostly by themselves. It needs to be small and able to have a pin attached to it for pinning to clothing or backpacks. Also, since we have just started up and will not be getting our cookie sales money for a few more weeks, it needs to be fairly inexpensive ($10-20 to make all 8-10 crafts is the most we can afford right now)

Thank in advance for any ideas you can share! Smiley
