1  HOME SWEET HOME / Interior Decorating: Completed Projects / My Day of the Dead Office (56k Warning) on: January 21, 2011 08:43:31 PM
Here is a quick overview..I hope you enjoy!

I have been getting bits and parts for this over last couple years.

Covered window with black material & placed felt cut outs on...have strand of funky bright colored lights along window top....some skulls & books with cool skull covers and big Paper flowers on top shelf

I painted the mail catcher(will post in other board)...paintings are from my friend & her Mom....also the small bat painting is from swap a few years ago

This is one of the shelves on my bookcase...it is full of DOTD figures, skeletons, some candles & paper churches
(You can kinda see the shelf under it that has skull plasma light, skully nutcrackers and some other misc items

Here is mirror I decorated

My friend made me this for my birthday....you can't see, but she wrapped skull tickers on thumbtacks...like 3 dozen of them.

The quote she wrote around the edges is
"The Darkness of Death is like the evening twilight; it makes all objects appear more Lovely to the Dying" Jean Paul(1763-1825)

Have pen cups, trash can, file boxes,& shelves in the bright colors as well but that stuff is plain (so far  Wink )

Hope you enjoyed!

Sides Navy blue & turquoise (Match other items in office)

I was going to polish up the lock area with my dremel...but it looks funky in a good way in person... I know it just looks funky in the picture lol sorry

Ok with that title you can see why I am in Misc.

I painted this turquoise & navy blue, I dry brushed blue across turquoise to give a weathered funky look to it. I decoupaged some loteria cards on it....added some peso coins,a rooster, chicken,& some frogs & turtles....hung a turquoise rosary & added some of old medals.Taa daaa

5  MISCELLANEOUS TOPICS / Discussion and Questions / What is your latest tool/toy for crafting? How did it work? on: August 10, 2007 12:21:33 AM
Ok ....so back to school has to be the best time for craftsters lol
When else can ya get glue for 17 cents a bottle and glue sticks 25 cents each........

So, I don't know if you have seen the commercial where the kid doesn't want to do his school project and then mom gets him Crayola Total Tools and yada yada life is great Tongue

Well I picked one up from the store called Ultimate Cutter....it was under $4 and comes with a small little cutting mat to put under paper.

I have tried it on a few things....
You really have to leave the mat under it (cuts better)...does a couple sheets of newspaper at a time..regular paper is ok too.It is not great on cardstock...it just kinda scores it, doesn't cut through.
It cuts freezer paper, but isn't as awesome as I thought it would be.

My 2 cents only of course...thought I'd share.
Anyone else played/used anything fun lately?

This was one of those lovely Drug Rep clocks you see at the doctor's
office~A little black paint "resurrected" it

I used metallic purple for the numbers and accents~

This is in my living room......reminding me "it can't rain all the time"
Thanks for letting me share.
