12  CRAFTY BUSINESS ADVICE / Get Product and Website Opinions / Re: Facebook Fan Pages on: February 17, 2011 10:57:45 AM
I have one too - http://www.facebook.com/pages/Kern-Kern-Crafts/176214592423313 - but unfortunately I don't have enough fans or followers or whatever yet to be able to create a custom username like you have. I love the FB page you created though! I didn't notice the borders, either, but maybe you already changed it. Have you sold anything from FB, or has it all been through other media (other website, craft shows, etc.)? I'm just starting so need all the help I can get! Smiley
Craftdabbler - apparently people do it anyway... I haven't read the rules but one of my friends entered into a competition to win free engagement rings if they got the most "likes" on their picture, but to like the picture, you had to like the page... that page is still up so is there something specific that limits certain businesses or whatever?

Anyone know if you're supposed to get a confirmation pop-up or whatever, asking if you're sure you want to suggest your page to friends? Cuz I've tried to do it several times on different computers, and never got it to say anything other than "loading" or "reading" or something...I hope I didn't send the suggestion five times haha

I really like D, but if I had to choose another, I'd definitely go with C. The O in the bigger font makes you think it's playing with the ball, but with the o filled in, it just looks like "il gatt" to me...idk

these are beautiful, and a great idea! we have a lot of cooking stuff too, but i'm not sure we'd have enough for three separate containers. you've made me want to hoard even MORE stuff so i can make these! Smiley
15  OCCASIONS AND HOLIDAYS / Weddings and Bridal Showers / Re: You pick the dress! on: January 12, 2011 12:25:27 PM
I love this one
http://www.priscillaofboston.com/dress_detail.jsp?gid=1&sfid=51390

As a sorta-kinda recently married bride, I would suggest NOT getting a ginormous dress. Although they're pretty, they're really annoying to sit/dance/move around in. If me and my guy did it all over, I would definitely get a different dress.
Also, I noticed you like some short dresses too. David's Bridal (to name just one) has a couple of dresses that are 2fers... long for the ceremony, and then you can unzip part of it and it's short!

Go try dresses on til you find "the one." Some dresses may not be your favorite on the hanger, but they could be your fave once you try it on. Good luck!
16  OCCASIONS AND HOLIDAYS / Weddings and Bridal Showers / Bridal Shower Invitation, with "love is in the air" poem on: January 12, 2011 12:14:13 PM
I'm my mother's matron of honor and I was bored last night, so I decided to design her bridal shower invitations. I already knew I wanted the theme to be "Love is in the Air" so I wanted the cards to play off that kind without being too cheesy, and I wanted the wording to do the same but I just could not get the dang thing to not sound like a 10 year old wrote it. My very awesome sister banged it out in just a couple of minutes.
This is the edited version of the card for the web. It's a lot smaller than the actual invite will be (4x6), so in case you can't read it, this is the poem my sister wrote for it:

You're invited to a bridal shower
To fete Liz before her big day.
Let's help her keep love in the air
And set the scene for her and her fiance.
Candles, chocolate, satin sheets,
Rich tastes, soft sounds, and low light
Are the kinds of things she'll need
To keep the mood just right.
Please bring anything that might help set the mood for love!
(shower deets)

In case anyone was wondering, this was created in PS7, with a gradient and a bunch of downloaded brushes from Deviant art. You can't really tell in the small version, but there are really tiny stars in the darkest part of the sky, and the hearts are kinda cloudy. Easy peasy but I like it *shrugs*

Any suggestions to make it better?? Or should I keep it as is?
17  BATH AND BEAUTY / Bath and Beauty: Completed Projects / Re: Show Off Your Hair--Dyed, Cut, or Styled by Yourself! on: January 12, 2011 12:08:24 PM
Ok so how do you get your hair white?? Any advice?!

I bleached my hair nice and light yellow, then used Wella White Lady toner, with a creme 20 developer for 20 minutes. And well I can't get a good pic of the color it either turns out too white or too yellow but it is a VERY pale yellow.

Halp!?

Use a purple (or even blue) toner. They also have shampoo/conditioner that deposit purple pigment to counteract brassiness. Sally Beauty Supply carries it, along with the toner.

19  COOKING / Dessert / Re: One woman's quest to save the spice cookie on: December 10, 2010 10:28:39 AM
Mmmm those look delicious! I just skimmed this post quickly, so I hope I'm not asking something you already said, but are these similar to gingersnaps?
I make sweets for Christmas most years, so I may just have to add these to my repertoire! Smiley
