A good friend has just had a little girl and I feel compelled to knit something adorable and tiny.  I have only ever knitted in straight lines before  but convinced myself I could try something a little harder armed with my stitch and bitch handbook and some youtube tutorials.  Went out and bought the Rowan Baby Knit Kit baby cardigan which is super cute and seems to only use basic stitches, you know knit two togeter, basic increases....

Anyway it is written in such a silly way that makes it impossible to follow, so I have to write it out again row by row.  Here is a excerpt for you...
"Inc 1 st at beg of next row and at same edge on foll 8 rows, then on 2 foll 3rd rows and at same time shaping side seam by inc 1 st at bed of 4th and foll 6th row."

Am I just being slow, are all knitting patterns written like this?

Aww sorry I'm moving from Brighton to Glastonbury...just graduated and moving to start my new job.  You don't happen to know anything about crafts in Somerset?!

Thanks for the advice (sorry it took so long to respond) my partner just got an android phone so we'll have to give it a go!! 

Is there any way you can accept credit card payment using a laptop with wifi at a craft fair (without having to buy a card reader)?  Has anyone done this before?

it's my 21st soon too, so I'm joining this thread to see what people come up with!  I'm thinking of having a moroccan theme party in my garage by covering the inside in fabric, and hanging lanterns in the garden, then laying cushions and mattresses in the garage and garden so people can sleep over after the party.  People can dress with morocco as an inspiration too.

Ooh yes that's a good idea!  I was also thinking about soap or bath bombs if we had access to a kitchen, are they quite easy?

I've been asked to teach a class to a group of people who are crafting for Project Malawi - a childrens charity in Malawi.  I usually make jewellery, but can't think of any projects that are cheap and easy to make for absolute beginners.  The class of adults will be asked to bring their own materials so it can't be too expensive, then the items will be sold for the charity.  Any ideas?
