1  PURSES, BAGS, WALLETS / Purses, Bags, Wallets: Completed Projects: General / polka dots on: December 29, 2006 04:46:13 PM
i made these two purses awhile ago using drill and printed cotton.

my lovely mannequin lola modeling one of the purses.

the other purse.

and i lined them with a polycotton poplin.

i think i made them a little small. they fit everything i want in them, but they're almost overflowing, i like my purses a little bit larger usually.
2  CLOTHING / Clothing: Completed Projects: General / high waisted skirt with straps on: December 29, 2006 04:42:16 PM
i wanted to wear something new out, so i made this up.
i drafted the pattern myself, but pretty much made it up as i went along.

*the photo is a little blurry sorry. i always forgot to turn off the outside light when taking photos in my old living room. it messed with my camera's focus*

theres a slit at the back so i can walk and move around. however i tore it the other week when i jumped up on a friend to give him a hug. whoops. stayed over at someone elses house and then had to go home the next day, almost flashing my undies to the whole city.

its made out of cotton drill, which is my favourite fabric to work with. i'm pretty sure my teachers would fail me for this, as i made it all my way. but it looks good and i think thats all that matters.

3  TOYS, DOLLS AND PLAYTHINGS / Toys, Dolls and Playthings: Completed Projects / penguin! on: December 28, 2006 08:50:37 PM

using some scrap fabric i made this little fella using this tutorial: http://mollychicken.blogs.com/my_weblog/2005/12/the_biennial_fe.html

i then turned him into a pincushion.
i made another one once as a present for a friend because she was feeling sad.
4  IMAGE REPRODUCTION TECHNIQUES / Stenciling: Completed Projects / conor oberst bag/bert mccracken shirt/myspace shirt on: October 29, 2006 05:01:15 AM
i haven't made any stencils for awhile. but here's some old stuff.

i made this bag for my friends 20th birthday last year.
it was one of my first ever stencils.
i've never been able to do a stencil as well since. i don't know why, but this is the only stencil i've ever done that i've been really happy with.

and last year my friends and i just randomly did a present swap in august or so, and i stencilled my sister this shirt

it turned out ok, my sister really liked it, but i wasn't 100% happy with it. i think it looks a little bit messy. if i remember correctly i pretty much rushed it.

a shirt i made myself to wear last year. it was my first attempt using fabric medium mixed in with acrylic paint. i heatset it, but still when i washed it, it ruined the stencil and became a lovely big mess on the shirt.

the stencil bled a little which is why i ended up going around the words with white.
looking at everyone else's posts i'm feeling inspired to start stencilling again.
5  CLOTHING / Shoes: Discussion and Questions / repairing ballet flats on: October 29, 2006 04:52:58 AM
i have a pair of leopard print ballet flats that i wear almost every day and they've somehow developed holes in the heels. anyone got any experience in repairing their own shoes? what would you suggest to patch them?
