I absolutely LOVE your wedding! I am definitely using your temporary tattoo idea, I never knew you could get those printed Smiley so thanks so much for that <3

I really wanted to rent a photobooth for the day but I don't think it's going to fit into our budget, it's really awesome that you guys got one Smiley

yeah, the pink and blue dress is what I would wear... the bridesmaids would be all in black dresses (that they probably own already, but they can buy a new one if they want) Smiley and the groomsmen will wear black shirts, black pants and no tie. I'm calling it "fancy casual" lol.

my name is Lyndee, I get called "wendy" and "lindsey" a lot  Undecided

the wedding I went to where the officiant said the wrong name... he kept using the groom's sisters name in place of the brides! (and they're not similar names at all!)

we're going to have a friend marry us, but he's since moved out of state and I can't seem to get a hold of him, which worries me. I still have a year and a half to go though (wow, I've been engaged forever!) we're going to check out a venue on the way down to our friends wedding in july, and hopefully get that settled.

wow, it's been almost two years since I've last visited this thread... and guess what? I'm still engaged! lol. for numerous reasons we postponed the wedding and now we're getting married 09/05/09 Smiley

we're not really doing a rockabilly/swing theme anymore (although we'll still play rockabilly music and swing dance during the reception!). dee521 was so right about how I would change my mind a million times! our colors are no longer red/black/white... they're aqua-blue, fuschia (hot pink), orange, and kelly green!

we're still having sandwiches but we're iffy on having cheesecake. if I could trust myself to make it and have it look pretty, it'd be a viable option... but ordering it from anywhere seems much too expensive! we're having cupcakes though! mmm.

here is my not-finished inspiration board:

a little after we were engaged I asked my fiance if he would want an engagement ring too, and I'm pretty sure he said he would just wear his wedding ring... well, now that we've been engaged almost two years he's saying he wants one! Smiley I know his brother has an engagement ring although FH swears that's not why he wants one and that he's always wanted one, just never told me (which... yeah, I dunno, I'm still pretty sure I asked him if he wanted one but then again, he has a terrible memory and doesn't remember!)

I have a question though, will your fiances still wear their engagement ring WITH their wedding ring once you all get married? (as a girl "typically" does). I know everyone is different and some women don't have engagement rings or they'll only wear their wedding band, I'm just curious. I plan on wearing both my e-ring and wedding band on the same finger after marriage. for FH to be able to, we'd have to get both rings at 2mm, which when worn alone would be kinda slim and might look feminine. any ideas on what to do with his engagement ring after the wedding if he isn't going to wear it with the wedding band?

I had almost forgotten about this thread!
thanks so much, everyone, for the wonderful ideas and comments. surprisingly, I haven't been planning much lately, just surfing indiebride and looking for a dress. I've found a 1950's style that I just LOVE but I need to find a pattern that would fit. (or a seamstress who can make a dress just from a picture!) Smiley

haha, intertubing, that would be fun!

it's amazing how much can happen in a few soirt weeks... I actually ordered a dress (white with red polka dotted swing dress) and am now returning it (it fit terrible and I don't want to fork out the extra money to have it altered...) I'm pretty much shying away from white (it just looks terrible on me, what can I say?) my fiance said it was alright to have a red wedding dress (just not a black one... but black is my best color! lol) so I'm thinking a satiny red gown... and then a black and white swing dress for the reception (and it will be custom-made by a friend or this woman that my friend knows who usually makes bridesmaids dresses) so yeah.

my fiance and I have decided however to take a break from the wedding planning until after we've moved in (june first, only two months away!) because I tend to become one-track-minded and it's very much wedding/wedding/wedding when I should be packing, packing, packing! lol.

thanks for all the helpful suggestions. I've been going crazy over on indiebride.com, lol.

having a different theme for each table is a cute idea although then I'd be thinking "wait, I don't want his grandparents sitting at the pin-up-girls table!" hah, you get the idea.

I think as far as decoration goes, it's going to be really simple. like a coke bottle with a daisy in it. when are daisies in season anyway? it's spring isn't it? would I still be able to get daisies in september?? I could always make daisies out of something... duct tape? hah. I made my fiance a duct tape rose for valentine's... I don't know if that would be tacky or not.

isn't it the japanese tradition to tie messages to cherry trees? or what tree is it? I always thought that was a neat idea ever since I saw Lost In Translation. and I thought little oragami cranes and butterflies scattered across the table would be cute. we might go to japan on our honeymoon (if we can afford to)...

I've joined theknot.com & indiebride.com, thanks for the suggestions! Smiley

I really wasn't thinking of having a veil or a tiara or anything. either flowers or "leaves" in my hair. I want something kinda flowy & earthy but not hippie, ya know? that's just one idea and I haven't seen anything remotely like what I've pictured and I doubt I could make anything like that.

I've been searching online for a rockabilly/swing dress for the reception and can't seem to find one like I want. (actually I did find one but they only have plus sizes left... gah) so can anyone help me out there?

does it matter if we have a "theme" for our wedding? (I have a theme for the reception/party however) and should I just use the reception theme for the entire wedding? (the theme being black/white/red... rockabilly/swing era) my fiance and I are both interested in so many things... in fact I think I'd love to have a classic-film-star from the 40's kind of wedding dress. anyone know where I could find something like that?

we've thought about holding the reception in an airplane hangar (my fiance is a student-pilot) but I can't really think of what would incorporate MY passion in the whole thing... (I'm an actress)... I thought about finding a theatre to do the ceremony in and/or reception but I've always said "I act on stage, not in my life" and I wouldn't want anything to seem unreal.

that cheesecake cake is lovely... though I think we'll go for something more plain Smiley and we've talked about just having huge sandwiches and such... and I know I want fresh fruit... there'll probably be lots of bubbley and alcohol... at the reception we'll have martinis (do they make plastic martini glasses? does anyone know where to find them?)

you guys are being extremely helpful, thanks again!

I have no idea who is going to marry us. I don't even know where to look. we aren't getting married in a church and neither of us are religious. I've been to a wedding and a funeral where a minister mispronounced / said the wrong name and I'm kinda worried about that. has anyone seen the scrubs episode where carla's mom dies and decides that she wants to get married NOW not later... but then the minister has to ask turk to remind him what the bride's name is? yeah, THAT. (if you're not an avid scrubs fan you probably have no idea what I'm saying right now. lol)

as for photographers, my fiance's brother is a photographer as is my best friend/maid of honor. of course she can't take pictures during the ceremony. in fact a lot of our friends seem to be photo-enthusiasts, and I had snagged the idea (from someone on here) about giving everyone disposable cameras then developing them ourselves and mailing them the doubles.

fioretta -- your pictures are beautiful! you're very pretty Smiley
