1  KNITTING / Knitting: Discussion and Questions / I need a boys jumper pattern?? on: September 28, 2007 06:42:51 AM
Does anyone know where I can find a pattern for a jumper for an 8 year old boy. Somehting with flames/skull/dennis the menace stripes/something 'cool'.

I'm fairly new to knitting so it needs to be quite straight forward, but I'm really having trouble finding somethng suitable since he's not a baby anymore.

Any help or points in the right direction would be appreciated.

3  FIBER ARTS / Felting: Discussion and Questions / wool nepps help?? on: April 26, 2007 03:45:06 AM
Does anyone have any experience of using wool nepps?

I ordered some recently out of curiosity (I am looking for unusual fibres for hair for figures), and they are not what I expected although very interesting!

I thought they would be 'joined' together somehow and therefore needlefelt-able but if you can imagine all the 'bobbles' shaved off an old wool jumper, but slightly firmer thats what they are like.

I am going to try wet felting them between 2 thin layers of merino but wondered if anyone else had any experience with Nepps??

4  FIBER ARTS / Felting: Completed Projects / giraffe and fox on: May 13, 2006 12:23:49 AM
Just thought i'd post a couple of pics of swaps i've done that are now finished.

My animals are not intended to be realistic, like the wonderful Radal's are. More quirky.

This is Geoffrey the giraffe who's neck is very short making him look like a pony. He's only about an inch and a half high.

And this is Filbert the fox...........

..............with his big tail.

5  KNITTING / Knitting: Completed Projects / STRIPEY HAT - 1ST TRY AT KNITTING! on: May 01, 2006 11:58:45 AM
I seem to have migrated over here from my usual haunt on the felting boards as I had my first attempt at knitting last week and I cant stop!

I tried knitting a hat for my 2 year old but it turned out big enough to fit his dad lol.

I'm trying a jumper for him next but I think it will probably fit him when hes about 45!

Despite doing a tension test everything I knit seems to turn out huge??!!
6  KNITTING / Knitting: Discussion and Questions / newbie advice - kids jumper on: April 16, 2006 08:36:38 AM
Hi all, i'm fairly new to all this knitting stuff but really need a bit of helpful advice.

I'd like to tackle a jumper (my first) for my 3 year old son so I'm looking for a pattern thats good for a beginner. I've been scouring the web and have found lots and lots but they all seem to be either plain or a bit 'dated'.

I'd like to find something that has a simple design on the front that would appeal to a boy like a lightning flash or a scull and crossbones.

Does any one have any idea where i could look??  Huh

7  FIBER ARTS / Felting: Completed Projects / wet felt class on: March 15, 2006 06:52:07 AM
Yesterday I went to a 2 hour wet felting workshop. I dont know anyone around here who felts let alone holds a workshop so I jumped at the chance to go.

It was really good fun to try wet felting with supervision as my first (and only) attempt at home left me with lots of questions.

Anyway this is my piece of felt, which is far from perfect but has left me wanting to do more!

8  FIBER ARTS / Felting: Completed Projects / Needle felt-fairy on: February 03, 2006 05:43:36 AM
Just thought i'd see what you all think of my latest trial.  Huh

I wanted to make a felt fairy, but apart from having no wings (cant find any I'm happy with) she has turned out kinda butch looking.

She is still part of the family but doesnt have a suitable name yet so any suggestions for a pink butch fairy would be greatly appreciated. Grin

Dont know what it is but I just love needle felting people.  Cheesy

9  FIBER ARTS / Felting: Completed Projects / The Wing Commander needs clothes!! on: January 17, 2006 04:07:47 AM
Anyone help with a clothing problem?

I needle felted the Wing Commander (below), my first proper project. But I'm stuck on how to dress him. He only has a vest and thong (cheeky) but I'd really like to dress him in a uniform.

I am useless at sewing and cant find any clothes in dolls shops to fit let alone be appropriate so I was wondering if anyone could give me any hope lol. I obviously wouldn't mind paying for the right outfit.

He recently acquired glasses!
10  FIBER ARTS / Felting: Discussion and Questions / Could someone help please!! on: January 12, 2006 12:44:50 PM
Could someone please explain how to load images into my message. Huh

I have just made my felt-a-long love bug and can't show him to anyone!!

Thanks in advance!
