81  strawberry dress in Clothing: Completed Projects: General by shesxautomatic on: June 10, 2007 02:09:18 PM
okay, so there are no strawberries on the dress. but i always want to go strawberry picking when i wear this.

the fabric was, like, a dollar a yard. i made the bias tape trim and found the buttons for the straps in my button pile. i think i ended up paying around $5 for the whole shebang. it's hard to tell, but there are tiny pockets on the front that have little red bows on top.

for those of you that saw it, this dress is reallll similar to my previously posted dress, which was the pink and white polka dot happiness with heart buttons.

eh, well, you can't see it, but the bottom is trimmed in red and hits about knee-length. and yes, i have three irons. i'm a big fan of dumpster-diving.

close-up of the top. sorry about the boob shot.

pockets! also a better view of the fabric.

yeah. i think i might have posted here once... i have a tendency to lurk and leave randumb comments, but i get too distracted to take pictures of my finished work.

BUT NOT TONIGHT!

all are variations from some new look pattern i got at wal-mart, with enough modifications so that they're not total rip-offs. no action shots because they're all a little larger than what i normally wear

dress #1
this one was more of an experiment... i thought it would be a good idea to line it in yellow? the trim is from a bedsheet i bought awhile back that seemed like a good idea until i unfolded it at my house and discovered the entire middle was threadbare and transparent. praise be for the bias tape maker. i heart my bias tape maker.

dress #2

it might be a little hard to see, but the dress has brown straps that tie into a halter. and that's pretty much about all i can say about this dress.

dress #3
THIS IS MY FAVORITE. it reminds me of dippin' dots! there are (tiny) functional pockets (good for a cell phone or a pack of smokes), and the straps are held on by little heart buttons. i guess they only make red heart buttons, so mine are painted with pink nail polish. my mother recently introduced me to a method of applying bias tape (once again, i love ya) so that no stitches show... it looks really fancy, but it's done by hand and takes for-ev-er. the bottom is also trimmed in pink bias tape, but apparently i was too excited to bother getting that in the photograph.

detail of the bustline, so you can see what i'm talking about.

sorry my dressform blends in with the background... i painted the room red before she became a part of the family.
feedback is appreciated!

this is my first post... so... hi Smiley. i've been lurking here for about two weeks and i must say, i've definitely been inspired by everyone's beautiful work.

i made this skirt out of plain ol' pink fabric and black thread. everything is sewn by hand because my sewing machine is in a different state than i am [[i guess that's what i get for up and running off at randumb]]. its hard to tell in the pictures, but it is a true pink and the stitching is completely exposed.

i just started stenciling. this debbie harry stencil is probably the sixth one i've attempted.

again, sorry about the picture quality - i don't own a digital camera.
