1  Shower gifts from my new neice! in Baby Showers And Gifts For New Babies by missfire on: February 03, 2007 07:12:30 PM
I was feeling creative so I made a few things for the shower. I live 3,000 miles away and cannot make the shower so I hope she likes everything! The onesies are simple cheap onesies with colorful fabric pieces appliqued on. I especially like the Vera Bradley, Mom bought her a diaper bag in the same pattern. The burp cloths are of $2.00 a yard super flannel from Wal-Mart, and I made 4, 2 with pink thread and 2 with purple. I also made 2 paci/toy holders (ribbon, snaps and mitten clips) but forgot to take photos. I bundled it all in a pretty box decoupaged with pink rose wrapping paper and sent it out. Can't wait to hear her reaction!

2  Re: Non-gender typed baby boy stuff in Baby Showers And Gifts For New Babies by missfire on: January 13, 2007 09:07:09 PM
We didn't know what we were having until my daughter was born, so we had to be neutral. That said, I love that we went with an "undersea" theme. It's easy to find stuff, and easy to make, too, and the stuff is every different color scheme from primary to pastels.

Here's a picture of the wallhanging I made for her (it, at the time.) I made it out of a 24"x36" floor cloth, dowel rod, decorative end thingies and ribbon. Oh, and paint. And little  dried starfish hot glued on. I'm really proud of it, and it was SOOOO easy.

I put Giant Tropical Millipedes in mine. Smiley

But could you maybe use some glass paint and light and make a lamp?

4  Re: come one! come all! post pics of your tattoos! in Bath and Beauty: Completed Projects by missfire on: January 08, 2006 09:47:41 AM

This is April, she's my representation of me. (I'm a Sonar Technician in the Navy, I hunt for Subs and shoot torpedos. Hence Missfire...)

This is my abacus, it has my son's birthdate on it. It's not a full abacus (no room) so I created it to suit me.

I have a few more, a dragonfly I got while DRUNK in Vegas (never a good idea) a really big one on my lower back that says NEVER AGAIN, NEVER AGAIN, and a religious symbol for the religion my best friend and I made up while listening to Depeche Mode. I was 13 and did it myself. Silly, but at least it's low on my ankle... Man, are they addicting!
