I'd really like a tute also.  It seems like a scarf would have to be strengthened with interfacing, but then it would be stiff.  I'd really like to know how to do this and see more examples of ones you've made.
3  SEWING IN GENERAL / Sewing in General: Discussion and Questions / Re: sewing with plastic! on: April 16, 2007 10:46:44 AM
Use a walking foot or Teflon foot and/or stitch with tissue on top of your fabric.  Use the heavier tissue that comes on rolls in the art supply store or craft store (not as thin as wrapping tissue, and not as thick as tracing paper).  There's a product called Sewer's Aid that you can put on your need (it's liquid silicone) that helps also. You also might have to adjust the tension on your machine.
4  California / California: South / Re: san diego, holler back! on: January 24, 2007 01:16:50 PM
Absolutely there's a knitting circle there.  Also check out The Grove for special happenings (it's a yarn shop).  There's also a crafting group in San Diego you might want to join.

if you're still looking, Mesa College has a fashion program, and they are far less expensive than FIDM.
