1  POTTERY, CERAMICS, POLYMER CLAY / Polymer Clay: Completed Projects / Re: Gummy bear charm bracelet on: October 16, 2012 09:16:54 AM
Gummy candies are my weakness!  This is fantastic.  I don't think they look wonky.  I'm interested in the mold though.  I'll have to look into how to make molds for clay.

Adorable, and I love the rainbow colors.

Thanks BuddyRumi!  I'm trying to add more clay embellishments, but I definitely need to work with it more.  It is fun to play with though.  Smiley
3  CROCHET / Amigurumi: Discussion and Questions / Re: Noob Here, could use some help please? on: October 11, 2012 11:45:08 AM
Don't over think it.  Just like you've just started crocheting, just pick a pattern (like the ones posted) and go for it.  It's easier than it seems, but incredibly addictive.  You'll want to create every creature you think of soon.

It is a bit different from crocheting garments in that you'll be using a much smaller hook than normal so that you have a denser fabric that stuffing can't get through.  It's harder than using the recommended hook, but since you already know the basics of crochet it shouldn't be hard at all.

I actually just posted about this this week.  It only deals with gauge, but here's the link.  http://kansascitycrafty.com/how-important-is-gauge-in-amigurumis/

Can't wait to see what you make!  (And let us know if you need help posting pictures Smiley )

I finally finished this monster!!

I'd expected her to only take a week or two, but she ended up taking months because of other projects and "creative block"  Roll Eyes

I tried adding some more clay accents this time.  I love clay, but I'm terrible at it.  Definitely have a new found respect for everyone who can successfully get it to do what they want.

The shaping on her feet could have turned out better, but I at least have a better understanding of it.

Her arms also swing at the shoulder.

I'd love to know what you think!

I like your version of the sun.
You have a designer's eye that is not mainstream.

Thank you Jane2!  That's really nice  Smiley

Thanks ladies!

The weather has at least calmed down here since I finished him.  People are actually thinking of fall coming.

I'm sorry to hear of the fires Spooky!  I hope it all ends up alright.
