1  TOYS, DOLLS AND PLAYTHINGS / Toys, Dolls and Playthings: Completed Projects / Elvis is still The King! on: September 01, 2006 09:18:09 AM
A co-worker asked for an Elvis sock monkey and being the elvis nut that I am, I obliged.  I had a moment of weakness and started glueing the sequins on instead of sewing them...but is was 2:00 am.  I sacrificed a TCB keychain so as not to feel guilty about it.  The hair needs work, but, as I said...it was late.  And I procrastinated.

Hope you like him!
2  TOYS, DOLLS AND PLAYTHINGS / Toys, Dolls and Playthings: Completed Projects / wee little birdie on: August 18, 2006 07:29:38 AM
I wanted to start making felt birds, small enough to hold in your hands or put in the pouch of your favorite bag.  I made my first one last night...I am not 100% happy about the shape, so there are some revisions in the works.  Also, I am planning on more decorative embroidery and beading....

Whaddya think?

3  CRAFTY BUSINESS ADVICE / Selling Crafts on Etsy.com / I need help catagorizing! on: July 29, 2006 03:23:46 PM
I don't know whether to list my recent creations under geekery or toys.  I won't re-post pics, but here is the link to original post.

How much traffic depends on catagory?  Do you think more people browse by key words or catagories?

Whadda ya think?
4  TOYS, DOLLS AND PLAYTHINGS / Toys, Dolls and Playthings: Completed Projects / monster oddities *updated - I guess I can craft at work!* on: July 28, 2006 09:36:01 AM
I made these last night and now I can't stop! I see myself surrounded by new felty friends come sunday.  Maybe I should build an ark!

*I finished this guy on my lunch break today!*

5  TOYS, DOLLS AND PLAYTHINGS / Toys, Dolls and Playthings: Completed Projects / Two new monkey friends, phew! on: June 29, 2006 01:05:47 PM
During a hiatus from commissions, I finally had the time to finish 2 new monkeys just for fun!
Uncle Sam and a Flower Girl!

6  TOYS, DOLLS AND PLAYTHINGS / Toys, Dolls and Playthings: Discussion and Questions / orangutan pattern? on: May 05, 2006 02:58:34 PM
Does anyone have a pattern for an orangutan?  I am making a sock-orangutan and would love a pattern to base it off.

Thanks!
7  HOME SWEET HOME / Interior Decorating: Discussion and Questions / stainless steel counters??? on: March 25, 2006 10:01:20 PM
Has anyone attempted to create their own stainless steel counters with tiles or thin sheets?  I would like to try and tackle this myself, but don't want to get excited before I find out it is impossible to do without spending $30 a square foot.
8  MISCELLANEOUS TOPICS / Discussion and Questions / Re-vamping kitchen counters on: March 25, 2006 09:36:39 PM
Anyone got any thrifty ideas to re-vamp my ugly kitchen counters. Would shelving laminate look really bad?  Is it really time-consuming and fiddly to tile it yourself?  We have a lot of stainless steel in the kitchen...any suggestions?

9  PAPER CRAFTS, SCRAPBOOKING & ATCs (ARTIST TRADING CARDS) / Paper Crafts: Completed Projects: General / woven pictures on: February 26, 2006 09:51:21 PM
I started weaving paper recently and really enjoyed some of the results.  I started weaving prints of paintings (all in public domain!) and a background together, but then left the part of the picture that I wanted to highlight open from the weave...I think it turned out quite well.

This one I like that it turned out with a really cubist feel, which ended up showing off the geometrical style of the original painting.

On this one I cut out a venitian blind pattern and pasted the garden of earthly delights painting behind it.  A nice twist on the death of marat, I think

what do you guys think?
10  UNITED STATES / Tennessee / Starting a S&B in Nashville I KNOW YOU ARE OUT THERE, PEOPLE!!! on: February 26, 2006 03:01:59 PM
Seeking hip young/old crafters in the Nashville area that would be interested in starting a stich and bitch.  My friend and I are looking to get together in a friendly, crafting community atmosphere to share cool new ideas, work on our current portable projects (she's a knitter and I am a sockmonkey maker) and hopefully learn some new crafts.

We were thining along the lines of meeting publicly in coffee houses first and then maybe taking turns hosting at our houses.

Let the crafty revolution a la Nashville begin!  Let me know what you think, what has worked and failed in the past, any bright ideas or inspiration...I have hit a roadblock in terms of how to get the word out there.

thanks, guys!
