1  Elvis is still The King! in Toys, Dolls and Playthings: Completed Projects by bucciboo on: September 01, 2006 09:18:09 AM
A co-worker asked for an Elvis sock monkey and being the elvis nut that I am, I obliged.  I had a moment of weakness and started glueing the sequins on instead of sewing them...but is was 2:00 am.  I sacrificed a TCB keychain so as not to feel guilty about it.  The hair needs work, but, as I said...it was late.  And I procrastinated.

Hope you like him!

2  wee little birdie in Toys, Dolls and Playthings: Completed Projects by bucciboo on: August 18, 2006 07:29:38 AM
I wanted to start making felt birds, small enough to hold in your hands or put in the pouch of your favorite bag.  I made my first one last night...I am not 100% happy about the shape, so there are some revisions in the works.  Also, I am planning on more decorative embroidery and beading....

Whaddya think?

5  woven pictures in Paper Crafts: Completed Projects: General by bucciboo on: February 26, 2006 09:51:21 PM
I started weaving paper recently and really enjoyed some of the results.  I started weaving prints of paintings (all in public domain!) and a background together, but then left the part of the picture that I wanted to highlight open from the weave...I think it turned out quite well.

This one I like that it turned out with a really cubist feel, which ended up showing off the geometrical style of the original painting.

On this one I cut out a venitian blind pattern and pasted the garden of earthly delights painting behind it.  A nice twist on the death of marat, I think

what do you guys think?

6  Andy Gibb in primate form in Toys, Dolls and Playthings: Completed Projects by bucciboo on: February 16, 2006 07:53:52 PM
A co-worker asked if I could make her an Andy Gibb sock monkey...she's a HUGE fan (?) and considering I am on a personal quest to create as many rock star/celebrity monkeys as possible...how could I resist. *thanks for all those great ideas, guys*

The tricky part was the feathered hair and the chest hair.  I am trying to use as little "store bought product" as possible...barring the socks and threads of course...and the fact that doll hair creeps me out, there were many different theories for hair.  I think these worked out quite well.

Whadda'ya think?

8  David Bowie sock monkey...it's finally here... in Toys, Dolls and Playthings: Completed Projects by bucciboo on: January 27, 2006 02:15:28 PM
David bowie monkey a la ziggy stardust.  I made it for my friend adrian's birthday.  He has one silver/brown eye and one blue eye.  Also, I added a "A loves D" monogram on monkey's chest.

I started this monkey thinking it was going to be a dorky monkey, I was making him some glasses and a pocket protector...however, he looked more like my crabby grandfather...so he got a little rocking chair sewn onto his chest.  I am planning on adding some hair coming out of his ears.

Also, I am currently working on LULU, she doesn't have any ears yet, but she is wearing pasties!

I would love some suggestions, or some inspiration...you may get your own personal sock monkey!  I think I am addicted...but as long as I can take pictures first for my gallery.

9  yet another way to use my loteria cards! in Trinkets and Jewelry: Completed Projects: Reconstructed by bucciboo on: January 17, 2006 04:00:14 PM
I used the smaller cards and made marble magnets...I am thinking about including the description that you find on the back of those cards as magnets too...now I just have to dig out my spanish/english dictionary.

10  sock monster! new pics! in Toys, Dolls and Playthings: Completed Projects by bucciboo on: January 17, 2006 03:37:02 PM
Yay! I have just re-discovered my love for sock monkeys...
Here are 2 that I made today.  The grey monkey looks a little...er..."special" That's why he has a little star sewed above his heart and the other I like to think of as a sock monster.  I am making him a twin with some matching socks.

What do you think?

.

The twin has arrived! They are very happy together!
