1  CROCHET / Crochet: Completed Projects / Cordless Phone Holder w/pattern on: February 07, 2010 10:24:06 AM
In the summer I'm moving about the yard and garden and find it's easier if the cordless house phone stays with me. For myself I created a cordless phone holder with a belt loop, but after finding out that my 75 year old mum has fallen twice in her house, I created this pattern so she could hang her cordless phone around her neck - as she doesn't wear pants with belts.

You will need: worsted weight yarn, 5mm crochet hook, 6mm dps, stitch marker, needle

I used an acrylic yarn from my stash so I can't provide you with any yarn details

This is my first written pattern, so forgive me if I don't use the right terms or have omitted something -
cast on 10 stitches, place marker in first stitch
row 1: sc 8, with 3 stitches in the end loop and work the back loops returning to the marker (so you've made a u-turn with your stitches)
row 2:2sc in the marker, and sc until the 11th stitch where you'll make 2 stitch, sc to end/marker
row 3 -23: sc around, 20 stitches total
row 24: sc until 3 stitches from the marker and start your i-cord, continue until cord is 30" or desired length (remember it will stretch a bit when the phone is in the pouch)
cast off leaving a 12" tail for sewing and sew the i-cord (be careful to remove twists before sewing) to the 7th and 8th stitch from the marker

If you choose to make one, I'd love to see your photos too!
(I'll post in Ravelry as well  - I'm "wayoutwear"

3  NEEDLEWORK / Sublime Stitching Embroidery / Meat Dreams - pillowcase on: January 04, 2010 04:11:55 PM
I made this pillow case for my dh for a Christmas present, no Sweet Dreams for him - he'll have Meat Dreams instead!

Transfers are from Sublime Stitching's Meaty Treats - except for the word "dreams" which I added myself" Not everything was filled in as I was running out of time for Christmas
4  CROCHET / Amigurumi: Completed Projects / Creepy Cute Crochet: Skeleton Wedding (amigurumi) on: June 22, 2008 08:50:20 PM
If you love amigurumi and you dig creepy cute (like zombies and skeletons, day of the dead, etc) then you'll love the book, Creepy Cute Crochet.

NOTE: I am in no way affilliated with the book, author or publisher and will not profit from my endorsement... I just wanted to share this fun book with my fellow crochet friends. Here's my first attempt from the book ----- the Skeleton Wedding

I used what I had, which meant buttons for eyes and a ghoulie green veil instead of white tulle like most brides have.

What a happy wedding...... doesn't the bride look happy? Yes, it was an evening wedding in the garden. It was formal too - he with his top hat, and she with her full length gown.
5  CROCHET / Amigurumi: Completed Projects / CDBD iiiii's (crochet goldfish) on: June 18, 2008 11:34:47 AM
Do you remember this:
A B C D goldfish?
LMNO goldfish!
OSARD goldfish....
C D B D iiiiiiii's

(Abby see the goldfish? Them ain't no goldfish! Oh yes they are the goldfish... see the beady eyes)

I had a big skein of 'kraft macaroni and cheese' coloured yarn so I decided to make a gold fish and he had to have googly eyes:

(and yes, there is still lots and lots of macaroni and cheese colour yarn for me to use up)

I made it from this free pattern: http://www.youarenotyourjob.com/kendra/2008/01/crochet-goldfish-pattern.htm
6  CROCHET / Crochet: Completed Projects / (Handcuff) Wrist Protectors on: May 19, 2008 09:08:50 PM
A friend of mine is who is a professional and an upstanding citizen in his community was arrested last week  (in the middle of the night the alarm on his property went off and when he went outside to look, he found two girls sitting  against the side of his house, he told them to leave and they stood there staring at him until he yelled at them to leave, and next thing a cop shows up following a middle of the night to arrest him and take him to the station in cuffs!WTF! We're all very shocked.)

Anyway, he's taking it rather well, so I decided to make him this gag gift. I crocheted him some wrist protectors and told him to wear them all the time, even when he's sleeping. I sewed a felt pocket on one of them and embroidered the word "key" in silver metallic thread.... a put a paperclip in it when I sent it to him ... cause I don't have any hand cuff keys.

He hasn't received it yet, I'll let you know how he takes it.
7  FIBER ARTS / Felting: Completed Projects / Needle Felted Bear and Dog on: May 10, 2008 09:14:27 PM
Hi there! I'm new to felting, but getting the hang of it and really starting to love it. And people are asking for things too.... here's a chocolate lab puppy and a blind blue bear (I forgot to sew eyes on before I took the picture).

They are 2 1/2" tall.

Now I'm on the hunt for good roving suppliers. Could you tell me where you get yours? (I'd have to order online as I'm in Canada)

Thanks for looking

9  CROCHET / Crochet: Completed Projects / Baby Bobble Hat on: January 03, 2008 03:20:31 PM
This hat pattern from the December/January issue of Crochet Today, called the Baby Bobble Hat. I did it in Bernat's Cottontots in white because it was to be a shower gift and don't know if it's a boy or a girl. But my husband tells me it's too big for a baby. The hat is about 16 inches in diameter, is that about the size of a toddler's head? Is there a chart of average head sizes?

10  CROCHET / Crochet: Discussion and Questions / Crochet Today doesn't keep their subscription promises on: January 03, 2008 03:13:58 PM
Has anyone else had problems getting the bonus offer that comes with the Crochet Today subscription?

I subscribed on line in September and was supposed to get a bonus set of Crochet Hooks but I've never received them and they give me the run around on the phone.

Anyone received their hooks, or had the same problem?
