2  Cordless Phone Holder w/pattern in Crochet: Completed Projects by DancingBoots on: February 07, 2010 10:24:06 AM
In the summer I'm moving about the yard and garden and find it's easier if the cordless house phone stays with me. For myself I created a cordless phone holder with a belt loop, but after finding out that my 75 year old mum has fallen twice in her house, I created this pattern so she could hang her cordless phone around her neck - as she doesn't wear pants with belts.

You will need: worsted weight yarn, 5mm crochet hook, 6mm dps, stitch marker, needle

I used an acrylic yarn from my stash so I can't provide you with any yarn details

This is my first written pattern, so forgive me if I don't use the right terms or have omitted something -
cast on 10 stitches, place marker in first stitch
row 1: sc 8, with 3 stitches in the end loop and work the back loops returning to the marker (so you've made a u-turn with your stitches)
row 2:2sc in the marker, and sc until the 11th stitch where you'll make 2 stitch, sc to end/marker
row 3 -23: sc around, 20 stitches total
row 24: sc until 3 stitches from the marker and start your i-cord, continue until cord is 30" or desired length (remember it will stretch a bit when the phone is in the pouch)
cast off leaving a 12" tail for sewing and sew the i-cord (be careful to remove twists before sewing) to the 7th and 8th stitch from the marker

If you choose to make one, I'd love to see your photos too!
(I'll post in Ravelry as well  - I'm "wayoutwear"

4  Meat Dreams - pillowcase in Sublime Stitching Embroidery by DancingBoots on: January 04, 2010 04:11:55 PM
I made this pillow case for my dh for a Christmas present, no Sweet Dreams for him - he'll have Meat Dreams instead!

Transfers are from Sublime Stitching's Meaty Treats - except for the word "dreams" which I added myself" Not everything was filled in as I was running out of time for Christmas

Look what the mailman just delivered? My finished towel.

My theme was "50's diner/rollergirl", here's the whole thing:

Here is 1boy1girl1kitty2's towel - this is the last towel for me in the swap, next one I'll receive will be mine!

She had mentioned her theme was "'bright and happy" but had also embroidered the word "Friendship" on her towel, and it seemed others had also incorporated that as well.

Here's the close up:
and the whole towel:

I like how the same (or very similar) blue came into several of the images. The image came from Flickr's Hoop Love group.

Here is my contribution to Rectangel's towel. She wanted vintage travel with girl's names...what's more vintage than travelling to Italy and riding a Vespa, no?

Her scarf has 2 colours stem stitched, and her hair is all French Knots - some 3 strands/1 wrap and some are 1 strand/2 wraps. The image was found just by Googling "vintage travel poster". Rectangel, I hope you like it.
(The colours are a bit washed out as it was a super gloomy day and the flash really washed it out)

Here is Ginamonster's towel, she didn't really specify a theme, but dog-gone-it she's getting one. Here's my contribution:

This man is trying to show off for the two lovely ladies, who are actually showing off a little bit for him! A bit of a rodeo theme maybe? He's got 'tassels' on his chaps and is riding a black horse with silver hooves and a mane and tail that is on fire! I love how he's in proportion to be in the background.

Here's the whole towel:

I hope you like it Ginamonster!

Wow Everyone! You're all doing such great work!

~Glenda - sonjabegonia's towel is ssooooo sweet. I love all your fill stitches
Antarcticrafts - cupcakeguru's fall theme is coming along beautifuly, I love your stitching
BrookOwens - WOW! Excellent detail! Atalla is stunning
Sewphie - your contribution to UrsulaDiamon's towel is perfection! What detailed work, I love your colours
Rectangel - so cute! I love the diner name! You never disappoint! the metallic thread is awesome - woo hoo! I was waiting (dying) to see what you were going to do on my towel.
Sonjabegonia - your birds are awesome!

And now, here is my work on BrookOwen's towel which is a pin-up + your state/province represented. We have the province of British Columbia with a french know marking the capital, a rainbow trout for fishing, trees and logging represented and our provincial flower-the dogwood. Our slogan is in the banner across her hips. Brook, I hope you like it! This one was difficult for me, in fact I removed the banner twice - don't you just love unpicking stitches? (not complaining Brook). I found the weave on this towel to be a bit loose so I really had to watch how I pulled the thread and to use big big big knots especially for single strands. I'm mailing it today to 1boy1girl1kitty2.

Here's the whole towel, folded to condense space:

Detail of the pin-up:

Edited to add: I forgot to say that the pin-up is and banner outline are from a Sailor Jerry stencil book, and the province was from the internet, the fish was from a tattoo site and the rest was original artwork.

Finally I have received and completed one!
Here is Ezri_B's towel - for her woodland theme:
The image is from Beetastic's Flickr - Hoop Love group page - I hope that's okay. and I had to check Ezri_B's towel from T3 to make sure I didn't pick the same image.

By the way, Ritapizza - your mermaid is beautiful, she's so sweet. You did a fab job altering the pattern
And the 'under the sea' towel theme is coming along swimingly (ha ha, couldn't resist the pun!)
