1  KNITTING / Knitting: Discussion and Questions / Re: I want to try socks... on: February 03, 2006 06:11:32 AM
for a beginning sock knitter, i really recommend the book Knit Socks!. it'll teach you all the basics, and the patterns go from really simple stockinette to more advanced, including pretty cables and lace.

on a side note, socks are so fun and much more easy than they look. just don't fall victim to the dreaded Second Sock Syndrome.  Cheesy

Ok - picked up Knit Socks! from Borders last night.  Diggin' it.  But, having never used DPN before, I'm a little intimidated.  The DPNs that I have came four to a package and this book wants five.  Do they come five to a package?  or do I need to buy two packages?

Anyone in Chicagoland want to give me a sock lesson?  Wink

I want a big bear skin rug now. Mostly so I can make my boyfriend pose on it topless with size 13 needles. Teehee.

Size 13?!?!  Try 35!  Whoever said size doesn't matter was fooling themselves!   Wink

This ranks right up there with the year the local mall's Salvation Army Christmas buckets were manned by hot firefighters in muscle tees...wrong on some level, but effective (I've never been so short on change Wink)

Undecided  Man!  All we get around here are scruffy, smelly guys and grumpy old women.

Thanks for the suggestions!
Maryam - I'm going to check out your blog.
Jax & Violet - I am ALL over Knit Socks!.  I've been looking at it for a while - just waiting for the 20% off coupon from the bookstore to magically appear in my mailbox.   Wink
