31  Re: Ongoing ATC swap - July 2013 Gallery in The Swap Gallery by SonjaBoo on: August 04, 2013 07:12:03 AM
I have been horribly lax in posting photos of the cards that the amazing blupaisan sent to me -- they are awesome, and I am just a slowpoke!

First, an altered playing card -- she wrote that she may or may have not done something similar in her high school yearbooks. Ha! And included in the pic is the card that she sent it in -- I love that kitty!!!

And here's what she came up with for my unusual medium -- all natural materials, to say the least! (Yes, that is a real cicada!) I love it!  He came off during transit, so I have repositioned him the best I could -- I think it's so cool.

blupaisan, I love your imagination! Thank you so much for these awesome ATCs!

32  Re: Mail Art Swap - Gallery! in The Swap Gallery by SonjaBoo on: July 25, 2013 05:28:07 PM
Oh, this gallery is amazing! And now I get to show off the gorgeous envelope I received from goatgoddess!

Isn't she lovely? I adore her! (Notice my clever paper address covers. So techy.)

Here's the back - I love how her hair continues over!

And the load of goodies inside (pardon the table glare):

Thank you so much goatgoddess! I am thoroughly spoiled!

(Note- can you gals let me know if any of these pics are upside down for you? I am doing this on my iPad, and sometimes that wonks things out.)

33  Re: Prayer Flag Swap Rd 3--GALLERY! in The Swap Gallery by SonjaBoo on: April 16, 2013 06:24:04 PM
Just adding a pic of the flag that I sent to annigirl22 -- I went with her peace theme. I work in Boston, so this theme feels extra special this week.

The main background fabric (that you can see around the edge) is a batik, but the other fabrics are the results of playing with fabric paint and bubble wrap. Super fun, btw! I stamped the word peace with fabric paint as well, and added some fun trim. The peace sign was also painted.

Thank you again everyone for a great swap! These flags are some of my first forays into sewing and fabric art, and I think I'm hooked!  Grin

34  Re: Matchbox Swap 7 (SO 3/30) in The Swap Gallery by SonjaBoo on: April 09, 2013 07:00:19 PM
I received two amazing matchboxes this week -- I am in love with both of them!

First, from SusieApple -- she chose my nature theme. Check out how beautiful this is! It's clay and just generally gorgeous. Mr. SonjaBoo does a lot of nature photography and thinks this is pretty awesome.

And with goodies, including an awesome bee pendant and inchies!

I also received from r0ckwithme, who chose my writing/typewriter theme. I am a writer by trade, and this is going on my desk at work!

And with goodies -- check out the keyboard inside! How clever is that?

Thank you ladies for an awesome swap! Grin

I received a beautiful flag from annigirl22 -- she also chose my bloom theme! I love it! Check out the big puffy flowers -- they're so fun!

Thank you so much -- this was a great swap!  Grin

I agree -- a box is overrated! Great flag!

And speaking of great flags, I received from Antidigger a few days ago and have been slow in my photo posting. (I am SO sorry!) I am totally in love with this flag though, and there are so many wonderful elements in it! It is perfect for my gardening theme!

Bloom!

And the reverse:

There are all sorts of fabrics, salvaged bits, sections of stitching and embroidery and beads... It's just lovely! Thank you so much Antidigger!

37  Re: Anything Goes Tiny House Swap, rd. 2 Gallery in The Swap Gallery by SonjaBoo on: March 25, 2013 06:56:25 PM
Oh goodness! I hope everyone here is ok! Thinking good thoughts for everyone!

Also thinking good thoughts for my partner! I haven't heard from her for a bit, but she received and I am wanting to show the houses that I sent along to her.  Roll Eyes

They are made from wooden ArtChix bases, and I really meant to just do one, but then they all sort of came together and it just didn't seem right to separate them. The backgrounds are made from sheet music colored with spray inks and Perfect Pearls, along with some dictionary pages that have to do with "home" -- and then some flowers for accents. I enjoyed the happy colors, and I hope she does too!

I have some picture posting to catch up on here -- I have been slower than molasses about it, and I totally apologize!

First off, from OathKeeper -- some forest friends. I love them so much! Can't you just imagine a little owl and a fox being buddies?

And then I have not one, but TWO fantastic ATCs that reflect my (weird) obsession with fruits/veggies with a human-like appearance.  (Has anyone ever read the Munch Bunch books? They were children's books when I was growing up and they were my absolute favorite! Needless to say, the series is about a little town of fruit and veggie people. Grin)

First, from Homerof2 -- and I would like to point out the banana's belly button! LOL! That tickles me! Grin

And from LaChapa -- a fiesty little pineapple! Zowie!  Grin

Thank you ladies so much! These are fantastic additions to my ATC collection.

39  Vintage Valentine frames -- from trash to treasure in Valentine's Day by SonjaBoo on: February 24, 2013 12:26:55 PM
I have been holding onto these frames since I found them for about $1 at a yard sale this summer -- I knew they had potential, but had no idea what I was going to do with them. (Scroll down for the "before" shot.) At first, I had envisioned some collage piece here, but then felt simple was better. And, I have been searching for a great place to display some of my favorite vintage Valentines!

A few close ups:

And the before -- the frames were a very dark forest green, and the pictures inside were generic chickadee illustrations. I went to the yard sale with a friend who looked at me like I had two heads when I bought them.

Thanks for looking! Grin

40  Mossy spring heart in Completed Projects by SonjaBoo on: February 24, 2013 12:19:25 PM
I don't know about the rest of you, but I'm pretty sick of winter. With that in mind, I decided to convert a little paper mache heart into a spring decoration.

It feels a little "Secret Garden"-ish to me. (One of my favorite books!) You have to look hard, but there's a lock hidden in the moss, being protected by a bee.

Thanks for looking!  Cheesy
