161  Re: Jar of Whimsies 5 Gallery in The Swap Gallery by SonjaBoo on: June 01, 2009 08:23:52 PM
I received from Sarad the other day and have been horrible about getting these pics up!  I'm so sorry Sara! I wanted to wait until I had a chance to really sit down and describe all the whimsy wonders she sent along!

To be fair, Sarad had packed all this much better than I did -- I tore into it all then tried to put it back for a photo shoot.   Roll Eyes Here's a look at all the loot! Note the jar o' whimsies, the gorgeous hand-dyed yarn, cat silhouettes in adorable frames, a fabulous assortment of ephemera (including Houston Public Library library cards) and my all time favorite -- Sarad's first amigurumi.  A ninja!

My main squeeze Cheesy:

A look at all the goodies from the jar!

A peek at some of my favorite whimsies, including some awesome buttons made by Sarad -- the "I Write" button is straight from my wists, and something I have been pining for!  I love it!  (And yes, I'm a writer.)

Some awesome patches!  I love these too! Cheesy

And a parting shot:

Thanks so much Sarad!  This was a great swap!  I hope you enjoy your package!

Yay! I'm so glad it arrived safely -- I was afraid the brad would get caught in something in the mail.  Phew! Oh, and I got the red envelope in Chinatown in Boston -- there's a store next to where I work that sells some really fun ephemera.

I meant to get this pic up sooner, but haven't been able to sit down long enough for some reason. (Please excuse the disgusting table underneath -- I didn't realize it was so dirty until just now!  Yeesh!)

Anyway, this fancy pear is from the talented goatgoddess, while the intricate Seattle profile is from Cassiecate57!  Thanks so much ladies! They are both awesome!

Great cards -- the tornado is awesome!  Auntie Em, Auntie Em!   Grin

I received to awesome cards -- a tiki card from MommytheMaid and a personal artwork piece from audio-astrophysics.  I love them both!

Thanks so much ladies! Grin

Modus, that is fabulous!  I will keep my fingers crossed for you -- maybe we'll be seeing "Hello Dierdra" pretty soon...  Grin

hollyg, I think we all have that feeling sometimes.  I personally have had the self-doubt week from hell this week, for whatever reason.  But I know you can totally do this -- your stuff is amazing and people love it!  I think the next step for you would be to try to submit your work to a company somewhere -- some place that might make stationary or wrapping paper, etc.  (Ninja wrapping paper, how sweet would that be?)  I know that's a lot easier for me to say than it is to actually do -- and I'm not even sure how one goes about doing that.  But I think that you have some really fun characters that you have created and the broader public would be very receptive to them.  (I don't say this as someone who has marketing experience -- just as a crafter and shopaholic.  Grin)

slb2724, I totally wouldn't lower your prices -- I think they are extremely reasonable!

I have a question for you all regarding pricing -- I am going to be listing these magnets today (and sporadically through the week) but am not sure what is too high/too low for a magnet.  They are made with stamps from St. Vincent and feature different parts of the story of King Arthur and the Knights of the Round Table.  Thus, I call them the "Magnets of the Round Table."  I was thinking $6 each -- they are 2"x2".   Any feedback would be much appreciated!

Congrats to everyone on good sales!!

TrashedClothing, I like the second one best -- but they are all very pretty!

This is my project this week -- Shamrock kanzashis.  They are actually doing pretty well so far -- I'm keeping my fingers crossed.    Cool

Can I get someone's opinion on this?  I posted these under the Glass category on Etsy, but am wondering if they would do better under something like Jewelry or Geekery.  Any thoughts?

These are my 5th and 6th skeins that I've made (still total newbie) -- but I wanted to share!

They are in need of a good name, so if anyone has a suggestion, I'd love to hear it!

169  Re: Christmas Stocking Swap 2 in The Swap Gallery by SonjaBoo on: November 16, 2006 03:10:32 PM
What a great idea!  I love that advent calendar!  So many awesome stockings so far!

Speaking of which... I finally have photos!!!

First, the gorgeous stocking!

Next, part one of the contents!  In this picture we have mini-PEZ notebooks (swoon), a mixed paper journal, ATCs, recipes, a Christmas cd, a mini-scrapbook kit, erasers, and Santa tissues!

And part two of the contents! This photo shows a black cat sleep mask (which I can't even express how much I love this... my husband told me I can't sleep with it on though because it will scare him when he wakes up!  hehe), a gorgeous blue and green scarf made of tiny circles, some fabric art pieces (once again featuring a black cat, my favorite theme), little birdie ornaments, Super Mario ornaments, a fabulous giant pincushion that I will never lose, and a Space Invaders bag that has cross stitching on one side and stenciling on the other!  (Oh, and there was also tons of candy included too-- which is filling the SI bag at the moment!)

Detail of the Space Invaders bag:

And finally, a rare sighting of the endangered dorkus majorus... the species is known to wear ninja turtle hats and do backflips into large piles of Christmas candy...

Thank you so much nix kisses!!!  You have spoiled me rotten and I love you for it!!!  Grin Grin Grin

I have pictures of the wonderful goodies from miss Knit_Core!

First, the fabulous cards that she made for me, as well as vellum sheets with black cats on them.  Also shown is a note card with Jack from Lost (mmm... Matthew Fox...  Roll Eyes) and her HTC!  (Which is awesome!)

Next, all the knit beauties!!!  The star scarf which I have been coveting because my knitting skills have no idea how to even begin with it, a vine necklace which again my knitting skills are amazed by, and a carrot who makes me so happy it's ridiculous!  Look at his little face!  Also included is a fabric transfer (I think an iron on?  Not sure but I might be framing it for my cubicle at work) of a sign that I have on my wists: Be Good or Be Gone.  It amuses me greatly!!  Grin

Thank you sooooooooooo much Knit_Core!!!  I am absolutely blown away by all of your talent!!  And Sonja thanks you for the treats-- she said they were yummy!   Cheesy   I hope you like your package as much as I have enjoyed mine!
