11  Superhero Alphabet Sampler (My Sistine Chapel) in Needlework: Completed Projects by SonjaBoo on: February 05, 2016 03:58:16 AM
After working on this for two years, I am absolutely thrilled to say that this sampler is done! It was a Christmas gift for my four-year-old nephew who is learning to read, and who currently thinks he is Captain America. (Or Batman, or Ironman, depending on the day.)

Here are some close ups of the characters. Nightcrawler, Wonder Woman and Union Jack are some of my favorites. Cheesy

I signed it on the bottom with freehand stitching, which I was pretty proud of. I normally can't even write that neatly. Cheesy

If you are interested in the pattern, it is from weelittlestitches on Etsy! I changed my color background and letters from what they recommended, and I think it worked out pretty well. (I made the change because, at the time, my JoAnn's only had a few colors of fabric to choose from.)  https://www.etsy.com/listing/80948839/the-original-pixel-people-superhero?ref=shop_home_active_14

I told my husband that this was my Sistine Chapel. I will probably never work this big again! Ha.  Cheesy

13  Good, Old-Fashioned Paper, Ephemera & Embellishment Swap in New Swap Theme Ideas by SonjaBoo on: January 22, 2016 04:12:20 AM
What better way to start the new year than to spice up your paper crafting stash with some new-to-you papers, yummy ephemera and gorgeous embellishments? Let's swap!

For this swap, I am thinking that we could stuff a small, medium or large flat-rate box, depending on your preference. (We'll match partners accordingly.)  International swappers would be welcome too, of course, but we'll have to figure out the best/most economical routes for you!

What would we be swapping? Here are some ideas!

Paper: Scrapbook paper, book pages, foreign language pages, textbook pages, tags, handmade papers, magazine bits, catalog bits, wrapping paper, painted papers, papers you have altered, mini books, etc.

Ephemera: Old photos, postcards, gift tags, trims, stickers, filigree, old advertisements, vintage papery things, maps, etc.

Embellishments: Buttons, bingo tabs, paper flowers, bling, paper cut outs from a Sizzix (etc.), chipboard, and much more!

Those are just some ideas -- and of course, it's always fun to include some papers or embellishments that you have made yourself!

So what do you think? Anyone up for it?  Grin

14  Re: Chunky Houses Halloween Edition 6 GALLERY in The Swap Gallery by SonjaBoo on: October 25, 2015 06:12:30 PM
So glad you gals enjoyed your houses! Grin I had a blast making them! Grin

I have photos of two houses that I received from our fearless leader irid3sc3nt and thisbirdabsurd -- they are awesome!! irid3sc3nt's house has a black cat who has eaten so much Halloween candy he's bursting through the windows. (I can relate. Ha!) And thisbirdsabsurd's house is a gorgeous vintage home with a mica window that has a witch behind it -- so cool!

Thank you both so much! I'm sorry it has taken me forever to get photos up -- I have been having issues with getting my photos to work on Craftster. These houses are awesome additions to my spooky village. Cheesy

16  Re: Stuff a Small Flat Rate Box for Halloween Rnd 3! in The Swap Gallery by SonjaBoo on: October 25, 2015 05:56:32 PM
I received from spookygrrrly last week, and have had a horrible time trying to get photos up -- I'm so sorry! Mr. 'Boo helped me tonight, and I think we've finally got them. So without further ado...
...here's all the goodies! And the inspector. Cheesy

A few closeups -- check out the awesome zombie needle book! How cool is that?

Thank you so much spookygrrrly! You spoiled me. This was a great swap! I hope your package has arrived or is arriving very soon!

I have also received from MissingWillow! (I sense a theme here... Grin)  Check out this gorgeous gypsy/fortune teller house! I'm in love!

And the reverse:

I apologize for the table glare -- also, I hope these photos are vertical. I'm having issues with that on Craftster lately!

Thank you so much MissingWillow! I love this house and it's the perfect addition to my village. Grin

18  Re: OTT October Holidays 7 GALLERY in The Swap Gallery by SonjaBoo on: September 25, 2015 03:53:57 AM
Bunny bloomers!! Grin

I received from Ludi and am working on getting some pics up. I received from Ludi and have pics! As I'm sure you have all predicted, her package was amazeballs. Cheesy

How adorable is this guy? He's trying so hard to be scary...

...but when you have a curly, bendable tail like this, it's kind of hard to be truly frightening. And you can see, it's only a mask.

He's really just a 'fraidy cat!

I absolutely LOVE this and currently have him/her on my desk at work. So adorable. Thank you so much, Ludi! I hope that you like your package half as much as I like mine! (Actually, I hope you'll like it just as much. But you know what I mean. Cheesy)

19  Spool pumpkin in Halloween Decor and Parties by SonjaBoo on: September 15, 2015 03:50:20 AM
I made this for KarenLouiseM in the vintage Halloween swap -- it's a little pumpkin guy made from a spool and vintage cardboard bobbins. (I have a million of these and was glad to finally use them in a project! I see more pumpkins in my future!)

The pumpkin is made out of paper clay. He's decorated with a wooden star button that I painted, as well as a vintage toy tire that I have been hoarding. The base is a cardboard round with scrapbooking paper on it for some fun.

Thanks for looking!

20  Max's Bone Shoppe in Halloween Decor and Parties by SonjaBoo on: September 15, 2015 03:47:19 AM
I made this for KarenLouiseM in the vintage Halloween swap -- it's featuring her little dog Max as a bone shop owner. Grin

The box is a shadowbox that I've had for some time (waiting for the perfect project), and Max and all the bones are made out of paper clay. The rounded stage is just double-sided heavy scrapbook paper -- the dots are velvety.

A close up of Max with a cheesy grin and orange fluffy collar:

His pricing -- he's a very good sales dog:

This bone container was made from a Tropicana lid I believe -- I used some gold rub on it, and it worked out well!

Thanks for looking!
