1  Re: Paper De-Stash and Junk Journal Goodies 2016 GALLERY in The Swap Gallery by SonjaBoo on: January 18, 2017 04:12:04 AM
I have been working on a junk journal/altered book from the goodies that mom2em sent to me. (I intend to do the same with the papers that Wulf sent too.) It's a challenge to me to actually USE stuff and not just stare at it and think about how much I love it.

This photo may or may not come out correctly -- Craftster photo editing is not always my friend. The book base is a board book that mom2em sent along, and the cover is made from various chipboard pieces that I have gessoed and painted.

I talked about it a little more in the Junk Journal-along if anyone wants to see more!

Thank you again, mom2em for the box of inspiration! Cheesy

2  Re: Junk Journal-along 2017 - Let's keep on making books! in Craftalongs by SonjaBoo on: January 18, 2017 04:06:19 AM
Love those pages, Smmarrt! The fast and easy guy wearing the caftan is hilarious. Cheesy

I started a project recently obsessed with. I received a small tonage of goodies from mom2em in the recent paper stash swap, and started to work on this book.

The covers generally started out like this:

Then got gessoed and painted:

Here are some page photos. The only rule of the book is it has to be made from items that mom2em sent along. I have painted and stenciled on many things, but they are still the original items!

Here's a look from the top. I'm hoping this photo doesn't come out wonky -- Craftster photo editing doesn't always like my iPhone photos.

It's not done yet, but I'm happy with the progress so far. It's really freeing using materials that someone else sent along to you! I feel like I can experiment a little more.

Wulf, I have to admit when I opened your package, I kept thinking how incredibly familiar everything seemed! Ha! Great paper-hoarding minds think alike.

And I have taken forever to get these photos up -- I received an incredible haul of papers from Wulf last week.
An overview of everything on my coffee table -- there are layers here! Painted papers, photos, ephemera, pages of text, great vintage ads... so much fun.

A few of my favorites:

This is hilarious -- an ad talking about the psychological diagnosis of being fat. I laugh about this every time I look at it!

Thank you so much Wulf for a wonderful swap! I can't wait to get started with a new project. Cheesy

You're welcome mom2em! I hope there's some stuff in there you can use! Cheesy

I also received from mom2em -- she sent a TON of paper goodness my way. I'm not sure how she fit it all in the box, but she did!

Here's a general look at everything -- this doesn't do it all justice. There are layers of things in there.

Smash journal goodies! The book is a 3D version, that even comes with 3D glasses. How fun is that? I have never done a smash book, but this feels like a good start. Cheesy

Freezer bags FULL of chipboard pieces, paper cut outs, ribbons, etc.

A look at some of the papers and rub-ons:

Thank you so much for everything, mom2em! I've already started a project some of this loot. Cheesy

Details of swap:
Let's show some love for mixed media! In this swap, we'll each be creating ONE mixed media heart that is no larger than 6" or so in size. (You can cheat a little, just check with your partner.) Just big enough to look amazing, but small enough to create in a short turn around -- and hopefully keep postage costs at a minimum! This swap has three weeks for crafting so participants can receive their heart in time for Valentine's Day.

Again, this swap is for ONE heart -- but if you and your partner decide on extras, that is fine!

What can I use to create my heart?
You can use paper, fabric, wood, wool, canvas, paper clay, paper mache, glass... whatever inspires you!

What should my heart look like?
Follow your heart! Maybe yours is an altered canvas, or a mini shrine. It might be a tiny quilt, a gorgeous stuffie or a lovely needle felted creation. Or maybe you make a metal or glass piece to wow your partner. The possibilities are endless!

If you want to participate, information to send to organizer:

6  Mixed Media Valentine Swap? in New Swap Theme Ideas by SonjaBoo on: December 27, 2016 04:13:55 AM
(as seen on Craftycupid.com)

Anyone up for a mixed media Valentine swap? My general thoughts are that we'll send a little Valentine project, no larger than 6x6 to our partners.

Potential ideas:
Small canvas
paper clay hearts
paper mache hearts
altered tin
etc., and so forth

I am happy to organize, and would get this up and running by early January so that we have some time to craft! Anyone interested?

Here are a few other images to get the creative juices flowing:

7  Re: 2016 Holiday and Card Swap - Gallery (send by Nov 10)... in The Swap Gallery by SonjaBoo on: November 22, 2016 05:26:55 AM
These cards and tags are so beautiful! We could start our own Hallmark shop, ladies. Cheesy

I finally have photos of the beautiful cards sent to me by my beautiful swap partners. First off, thank you all so much for your beautiful work. I am officially not filled with the Christmas giving spirit because I want to keep all of these for myself! Ha!

From Onyxnox -- such gorgeousness! I am especially obsessed with the ice skates. I might actually put those in a frame!

From gala apples -- my husband is totally getting that owl tag on one of his packages this year! (He loves owls -- it's perfect!)

From late_night_stamper -- I think you are definitely up at all hours stamping. Your cards are so professional looking!

Such a beautiful swap! Thank you ladies for a great start to the holidays!  Kiss

8  Re: Happy Mail 2: The Return of the Doodads Swap Gallery in The Swap Gallery by SonjaBoo on: November 22, 2016 04:19:54 AM
I also received an amazing Happy Mail from RougeRaven!

Check out the envelope! This is the back -- I don't seem to have a photo of the front, but she stamped out my address and her return address. It looks so cool!

Here's all the loot! Awesome ephemera, beautiful flowers, some cut outs I can't wait to use in a project, an adorable mixed media book to play with, and a bee stuffy! Cheesy

Here's a close up of the bee -- she's just too darned cute.

Thank you for everything RougeRaven! This was awesome! Cheesy

Oh man, there's some good stuff in here! I love those 3-D butterflies! And the watercolor envelope, and the zentangles... so cool!

Thanks for posting a photo pioneer9! I finally have some myself, but yours are far better!
Here's the envelope, which I love:

And the contents!
I love the crow so much! The ATCs are awesome, the typewriter is a magnet that I will bring to work (I'm a writer), and the bookmark will be used immediately! Cheesy

But I especially love this chick -- how fun is she? She's my new mascot. It's me, when I lose about 50 pounds. Haha. Cheesy

Thank you so much pioneer9! This was a fun swap. Cheesy
