1  CLOTHING / Clothing for Kids: Completed Projects / Zo's Summery Dress on: July 12, 2007 01:20:48 PM
I've had this beautiful turtle fabric stashed in my sewing room for quite some time. I finally decided to used it to make my youngest daughter a dress. Didn't use a pattern for this one because I just didn't feel like taking the time to cut out the pattern and read instructions and blah blah blah you know the drill.

There is pleated detail all around the top of the skirt part. I used bias tape for a punch of color and a red metal snap on the back. This was my first dress (non-doll dress that is) and I had fun making it. Will definitely be making more. :]

3  CROCHET / Crochet: Completed Projects / Now, I'm cool too! on: March 11, 2007 12:12:50 PM
I'm very new at crochet and I've been practicing by making 6X6 inches squares with single crochet stitches. I got that part down but it gets to be a little boring after a while. So last night I finally figured out how to crochet in circle. I was so excited. After a 2-3 hours I got this little hat made. I'm pretty proud of myself because with this hat I learned how to do double crochet stitches, change colors, increase and decrease. I'm so cool!! teehee

So, I did double crochet for the top part and did single crochet for the rest. It's not perfect but I like it!

See you around!  Cheesy

4  Craft Swaps / ARCHIVE OF SWAPS THAT ARE TOTALLY FINISHED / Handspun & Handcrafts Swap 2 *send-outs April 10 on: March 06, 2007 11:53:27 AM

All ages allowed? Or 18+? All ages, if <18 please check with your folks first.

Swap Organizer himself/herself meets these conditions:
- Has fully read the Swap Info Guide: YES
- Has successfully completed two swaps as a participant: YES
- Is not organizing more than three swaps right now: YES

- Does not have any negative feedback: YES

DETAILS OF SWAP
This is the Handspun & Handcrafts Swap!! This swap will pair up spinners and non-spinners (hereafter referred to as crafters, not because spinners are not crafters, but to keep things simple), to swap handspun and other crafts with each other.  Spinners will make beautiful yarn for their partners and Crafters will make beautiful crafts for their partners.    Please discuss with your partner to determine level of effort: as a general guideline, spinners will make a skein of yarn for their partner, and crafters will make one large and 2 small items for their partner (of course, both a "skein" and a "large/small item" are really relative terms, which is why you need to communicate with your partner). You can do more than this of course if you both agree to do so.

You will sign up either as a Spinner OR a Crafter, please use the appropriate questionnaire below.

If more crafters than spinners sign up, the swap will be limited to the number of spinners (and vice-versa). Participants will be taken on a first-come, first-served basis (sign up early!).

I am anticipating that there will be more crafters sign up than spinners. Therefore, spinners who have successfully completed at least one swap may choose to take two partners if desired, and crafters will be limited to one partner, to ensure that more people get a chance to participate.

Additional Rules:
1. If this is your first swap please read: (http://www.craftster.org/swapsinfo.html) to find out how to ship your item and other details about participating in a swap.

2. Please create a parcel that you would like to receive. Do some research on your partner. Good communication is really important to keep everyone informed and happy.

3.  Please bookmark this thread and/or post here. All updates will be made here and this will help you to keep up with everything.

4. I will be giving feedback in the following way:
- great swapper: for those who follow all the rules
- good/poor communication: where applicable
- sent late/early: where applicable
5. Please put "Handspun & Handcrafts Swap 2" in the title of PM's.
Make sure to PM groschveux and knitwit when a package is sent/received.

6. Note that I will ask people to check in with me and on the board halfway through the crafting period. Responding to the check-in is part of keeping good communication.

Non-U.S. participants allowed? Absolutely!
All ages allowed? Yes (Parental consent required for those under 16!)

Swap Organizer himself/herself meets these conditions:
- Has fully read the Swap Info Guide: YES
- Has successfully completed two swaps as a participant: YES
- Is not organizing more than three swaps right now: YES
- Will recruit a co-organizer or give all details to a Swap Moderator if this swap has more than 25 participants: YES

Swap Organizer will check each participant to make sure they meet these conditions:
- Has been a member for at least one month: YES
- Has posted at least 15 times: YES
- Has completed at least one swap successfully before signing up for multiple swaps: YES
- Is not currently signed up for more than five swaps: YES
- Does not have any negative feedback: YES

DETAILS OF SWAP:

If youve got stashes of fabric hidden in your craft boxes, this is the swap for you.
This round will be taking place throughout March!

For each claim, you will get to select a total of 1/2 yard of fabric (in the form of two (2) fat quarters OR a half yard piece).  In return, you will then be required to make a post with a minimum of eight fabric swatches that you have available for someone else to claim.

Ready to play?  Please read the following sections on 'HOW TO PLAY' and 'RULES' for this swap before signing up to get approved for this swap!

HOW TO PLAY:

Step 1.  Send in your answers to the swap questionnaire to get approved for this swap

Step 2.  Prepare your lists of fabric swatches so that youll be ready to post the list when you make a claim!  Youll need a minimum of eight fabric swatches!!!  Along with the pictures, you should describe the type and clearly specify the quantity of fabric that youre offering!  For example:

1.   Brown and Turquoise Cotton Batik.  1/2 Yard Piece.
2.   Lime Green Silk.  Fat Quarter.
3.   Purple Cotton/Polyester Blend.  Fat Quarter or 1/2 Yard Piece.
4.   Fun Fur Type Fabric.  Fat Quarter.
5.   Silver Vinyl.  Fat Quarter.
6.   Vintage Japanese Kimono.  Fat Quarter.
7.   Pink Cotton Flannel.  1/2 Yard Piece.
8.   Yellow Wool Felt.  Fat Quarter or 1/2 Yard Piece.

Step 3.  Watch the swap thread for something youll like to claim.  To claim, post a reply along the lines of I claim swatches #2 and #6 from groschveuxs stash.  Follow-up by sending a pm to the person you chose from.  Let her know what youve selected and provide her with your name and mailing address.

Step 4.  Now that youve made a claim, its your turn to post your list of fabric swatches!  If the thread idles for a couple of hoursor days, please take the initiative to add more selections to your list!  When someone chooses from your list, you have seven (7) days to get the swap package out the door!

Step 5.  If you have not maxed out on the number of claims you have been approved for, you make keep on claiming.  If you have reached your limit, you will not be able to make another claim until one of your partners has received a swap package from you.

*The amount of outstanding claims you are allowed is based on your craftster and swapping status. New swappers get one claim, non-FOCs get 2 claims and FOCs get 3 claims.

RULES:

1.  You may not participate in this swap until you have been pre-approved by the swap organizer.  Please wait until youre listed on the List of Approved Swappers before making a claim!  If youre watching this swap thread and thinking about participating, youre more than welcome to pm me to get pre-approved.  By doing so, youll be ready to make a claim when you see something you like

2.  You must have ready access to a camera and know how to post pictures in the swap thread.  Please make sure you have your list (either links or pictures) of fabrics available when you start swapping!  You will need to have a minimum of eight fabric swatches in your posts. You may also choose the option of posting links to your fabric swatches.  If you do that, please make sure that your links work!

3.  All participants must be willing to ship to international destinations.  Since were only sending a total of 1/2 yard of fabric, shipping costs should be pretty reasonable.

4.  After a claim has been made, you have seven (7) days to mail your package!  Check out the second post of this swap thread to get an idea of when your swap packages are due.

5. Delivery Confirmation Numbers will be required for swap packages that are being sent within the United States.  I'm will be pretty firm about this rule!  If youre sending a package to another country, or if you dont reside in the United States, please save your receipts!  Remember to send the DCN info to your swap partner(s) and the organizer (that would be me, groschveux)!

6.  It is important to communicate with your partners and the organizer.  When you have received, please remember to inform your partner and the organizer!  If you are late, you need to pm your partner and the swap organizer ASAP.  You are still responsible for sending out the swap package in a timely manner!  A blatant disregard for deadlines will result in a "sent late" comment in your swap profile.

7. Okay.  This is not really a rule, but rather a request.  Please make sure to list fabrics that you would be pleased to receive.  Its common sense, really!

If that sounds good to you and you want to participate, send the following information to the organizer:

QUESTIONNAIRE TO ANSWER:

Name of swap: Ongoing Fabric Swap 5
Craftster username:
Email address:
Your full real name and mailing address:
Have you read the rules for this swap and understood how this swap works?
How many fabric swatches will you be required to showcase when you make a claim?
Do you promise to communicate with your partner(s) and the organizer when you send, recieve or are late?

IF YOU WANT TO PARTICIPATE, REMEMBER TO SEND YOUR INFO TO THE ORGANIZER (me!) VIA PRIVATE MESSAGE AND NOT TO REPLY WITH IT HERE.
Also remember to consult the Swap Info Guide and Swap Etiquette to find out how to ship your item and other details about participating in a swap.
