3  KNITTING / Knitting: Discussion and Questions / boyfriend hat help on: November 03, 2004 03:56:17 PM
alright ladies gonna need some heavy duty help here. my boyfriend "thinks" he might wear a hat if i make him one, and has been telling me i should make him a halo 2 hat (xbox game) here is the link to the site the he wants the 2 with the circle around it on the hat.
http://www.xbox.com/en-us/halo2/default.htm?level1=enushome&level2=livesbg&level3=halo2countdown
problem #1 i have no idea how i'm going to do this
#2 am only knitting my first hat right now.
#3 its gotta look pretty good or i know he will not wear it

so i need some help. should i knit a reguar hat and cut out felt symbol to sew it on? it would have to be not ribbed or that would mess up the sewing job...or to intarsia (not sure if i'm spelling it right as i've never done it before).

help help help Smiley

5  KNITTING / Knitting: Discussion and Questions / quick circular needle question on: October 28, 2004 07:54:03 PM
since i've never used circulars before i have no clue how they work or how to measure them i'm sure you ol'pros think this is a really silly question..but here goes...

i want to make the famous kittyville hat from snb. and have borrowed all of my mom's knitting needles. i am not sure how to measure the circular ones. ie doesthe length start from the needle point. or am i only measuring the connector cord thing?

also if it calls for an exact size is it ok to use bigger or smaller lengths. i know that diameter is a diff thing. but i have the right diameter just not sure of length i'll have to figure ou how to measure them first but wondering if what i have is ok. or not?

thanks ladies.hoping to start the hat tomorrow.

go do something for someone else. quick run. Cheesy

edit: made the pic a bit bigger.
7  Craft Swaps / ARCHIVE OF SWAPS THAT ARE TOTALLY FINISHED / all canadian crafty swap CLOSED (send by nov 19) on: October 21, 2004 10:52:39 AM
Swap name: all-canadian 6 month crafty swap
Sign up deadline: Friday October 29th
Date to send first shipment by: November 19th

Details of swap:
This swap is a Canadian only penpal type swap. It is a 6 month commitment with the possibility of going further if you want.(note: after 6 months the swap is out of my hands) basically craftsters will be matched up and send fun packages to each other at least once a month. If you decide more then go for it. This swap will begin with a shoebox sized box full of goodies ranging from crafty supplies to handcrafted goodies. After the first shipment there is no need to send that much stuff, unless of course you want to.

Purpose of this swap: well aside from celebrating the fact we dont have to pay shipping to the states, we will meet fellow crafsters and develop closer friendships. Getting mail that is not a bill is also a plus Cheesy

Limited to a certain number of people? 12ish

Non-U.S. participants allowed?
Yes!! Its only CANADIANS!! Yay CANADA

All ages allowed?
Yes

Note: Make sure you can really commit. if you can't do six months don't sign up.

If youre on the suspended traders list sorry you cant play.

If you want to participate send me a PM before the deadline. After I get all the names Ill match everyone up and let you know whos sending to who.
When you sign up send me a little bio about you detailing what you like, dont like. Crafts you do. if you'd rather get more supplies than made stuff.Things you are allergic to. Colours you like..all that fun stuff. This note is just to give your partner a better idea of who you are and your interests, helps them with ideas to send you stuff. I will PM it to your person after I match people up.

Any questions post them here. Cant wait to get this going Cheesy
8  ORGANIZED CRAFT SWAPS / New Swap Theme Ideas / canadian only swap? on: October 17, 2004 08:46:10 AM
since it seems like i can never do swaps i wanna do because of the high cost of mailing from canada to the states and sometimes no one wanting to mail to us in lonely canada Tongue, perhaps we can do our own canada only swap. i like the idea of the secret craftster swap and both times was unable to do it based on some sort of mailing issue. would there be any interest in doing our own? i kinda like the idea of knowing who we are receiving from and getting to know fellow craftsters on a more friends basis. so what about a pen-pal type swap in which people are paired up. and then take the swap from there. ie: if they want to swap for the rest of their lives they can. if they just want to do one month. they can do that too. they'd be swapping with eachother.

any interest?

Tongue so i decided that it would take less than half a hour to make it and it might just be the perfect pick-me-up for the day. a fun cover and a quick crafty project. these were scraps that i got at a fabric store that has a 6 pieces for a dollar bin.

next up the hot water bottle Tongue

edit..photobucket is being a pain today. so i hosted it somewhere else. hope it works Smiley
