i'm coming out of my year or more of lurking. to comment that i am finally starting this project. i have 6 squares done, and hope to have the other 134 completed before christmas Cheesy

i think that will be a better idea. because once she washes it, the whole thing would go wonky with no quilting. i made a wallhanging before and didn't quilt it enough, so now it is all bunchy, (not good). as for the Hawaiian blocks have you tried any of the sites listed on this website http://www.freequiltpatterns.info/

i think you will be disappointed with the result if you don't quilt it. it will pull away.
