1  OCCASIONS AND HOLIDAYS / Weddings and Bridal Showers / Lighting that's not hung from the ceiling? on: September 27, 2008 08:20:06 PM
Hey craftster. Need some ideas.

Our reception hall has yucky fluorescent lighting, and won't allow us to hang anything from the walls or ceiling. Also, no open flames.

What amazingly creative things can I make to light the room up, without having to use all the nasty fluorescents?

Were using a theme of aqua-blue-green colors, if it makes a difference.
2  HOME SWEET HOME / Crafty Housewares: Completed Projects: Reconstructed / Oh man, that's one ugly dresser! on: August 01, 2008 09:41:09 PM
So my mom gave me this awesome old dresser. It's pretty ugly to begin with, but I LOVED the handles, the lines, and the cool decorative feet of it, so I knew I had to revamp it.

I used cutouts from a book of japanese prints that I had, and wasn't using. Some are sideways, some are upsidedown. I love the vibrant colors of them.

Before! Including a broken drawer, which I fixed!

Annnnnnnd....after!

Detail shot:

I love it so much. If you want any details on the process, feel free to ask.
3  HOME SWEET HOME / Crafty Housewares: Discussion and Questions / Pillow help: From lumpy and frumpy to jazzy and snazzy? on: July 26, 2007 01:02:00 PM
Sorry for the dumbest title ever.
I sew regularly, and sometimes I think...a cute little pillow would be nice.
Perfect square, cute border, whatnot, and I come to stuff it with some nice fibrefill and its ends up looking stupid and uneven and bumpy and not  being very comfortable or good-looking at all.

Am I using the right stuff? I use the big bags from walmart (cause im cheap)  that you'd use for a stuffed animal. Should I use one of the pre-made pillow inserts? Is there a process? Helllllllllp!
4  CLOTHING / Clothing: Discussion and Questions / Softer, stretchier TShirt fabric? on: January 03, 2006 10:59:32 AM
So I've come across a common thread (haha no pun intended) with new clothing, be it tee shirts, tank tops or skirts. Its 95% cotton and % spandex-- its like a teeshirt, but thinner and softer and has a nice stretch to it. When cut on the bias, it has a great drape and can be cut without fraying. Obviously, this would be a preferable fabric for making clothing, but i'm not sure if it has a name, or where I can buy it. I'm sick of un-cute, hard to work on your body wal mart fabric.
So has anyone worked with this? Do you even know what I mean? Any ideas where I can get it?

thanks, Craftsters.
