1  Re: 11 Quilts in 2011 Quilt Along in Craftalongs by malgudi on: May 20, 2011 01:16:06 PM
Hi there, so sorry for disappearing into thin air. Had to travel to India suddenly. I returned few days ago but wanted to finish a couple of things to show you before popping in here.
I finished a baby quilt to send to Japan and then made a similar one from the left over blocks for our friend's baby. So I can strike that off from the list.

Then I worked on medallion quilt which has been in the works for a long time. Here it is with flying geese border attached.
I finished rest of the borders too, but didn't get a chance to take the picture it.

I still need to finish applique' in the center block but that's a goal for another year Wink
If you are interested Anita posted tutorials for all the borders on her blog

This is the link to flickr group where everyone posted their progress

I'm preparing fabrics for the basket quilt which is next on the list.

Kwiltykate, simple quilts are the best! Your adorable peach fabric is beautifully showcased  Grin

It feels so good to finish this quilt finally after almost 2 years. It's been a great learning process and I have to thank OnlySiamese for helping me out with her wonderful tips on all of the techniques involved. Grin
Without her encouragement I don't think I could've pulled it off!

flying geese and long winding paths

corner stones

Thank you  Smiley

Hiii, have been working on the borders again Smiley
I'm just picking the colors from previous borders instead of brainstorming like in the previous ones.
So, it went quickly. Tracing and cutting took the longest time especially for the flying geese border.
A couple of geese got cropped while fitting the border to the size  Huh

I opted to hand-stitch the corner posts in the last border because of the set-in seams. So relieved that they turned out well.

Finally, some progress even though not with perfect results Roll Eyes

I had to chop off the nine-patches to fit nicely. Not sure where I went wrong. But glad that I'm working on it again Smiley

Hi everyone! A very Merry Christmas to you Smiley

It's been a busy time for me with the move and the only thing I was able to finish is this tree skirt.

The pattern is in Quilts and More winter 2007 issue.

Thank you all for the kind and encouraging words to finish a few things earlier and Thank you stoliedina for an awesome Craft-along!

Hoping all your Christmas dreams come true Grin

6  floral trellis in Quilting: Completed Projects by malgudi on: August 27, 2009 06:07:41 AM

We were visiting friends and family in June. So, I made a few quilts to take as presents.
This is one of them. It is for my mother-in-law whose favorite color is pink.

The pattern is Floral trellis from Fons and Porter's "Our best seasonal quilts" book.

As my sewing machine doesn't have a walking foot and as I was running out of time too, I hand quilted it lightly with Perle 8 cotton in the filler blocks.
I was hoping to do a bit more quilting while I was at my in-laws place, but couldn't get away from all the fun that's happening around.
Hope it withstands all the washings  Cheesy

The fabrics are from Joann's except the backing which is 'Bloom' fabric by Laurie Bird.

Thanks for looking Smiley

Not actually this month's theme, but I made a doll for a friend's little girl.

The pattern is from Stitched in time book. I couldn't follow the instructions for the skirt, so just made it up Smiley

Diamonds

I was hoping for a bit more contrast when I chose these two prints for the diamonds, but it looks so green Undecided
Not sure which route this quilt is taking Roll Eyes

Thank you so much,OnlySiamese for all the help with the border. I don't think I would've managed it on my own Cheesy

I had to chop off few flying geese that are trailing in the end. I think this is going to be a trend for the following borders as well as my seam allowances are nowhere near perfection Roll Eyes

border 2:

Just now I noticed that the color of the pink fabric is a bit off in the picture. It's a shade darker than it appears here.
