1  FIBER ARTS / Spinning: Completed Projects / Re: Fiber Friday - 12/15/06 on: December 16, 2006 09:42:05 PM
Hello! I'm also new to spinning- here's my first skein, a thick and thin two-ply made with a top-whorl drop spindle and merino roving dyed with wilton's.
It's only 28 yards, but the colors came out nice- vibrant pinks, orange, canary yellow and undyed white spots

and a closeup

Great work everybody! I know its tough to swap during the holidays( a billion and one things to do, finals, crafting for other people) but I think this swap is coming along great Smiley
3  PURSES, BAGS, WALLETS / Purses, Bags, Wallets: Discussion and Questions / Re: The perfect bag on: December 09, 2006 12:01:45 AM
As much of a bagaholic as I am, I usually only use one of two purses out of my collection. They're shallow enough to where I don't have to dig for my wallet, though with room for a hairbrush, cellphone, keys, and shopping list, too. Also the handle has to sit on my shoulder without slipping off constantly- I totally can't stand that! lol A shallow, slight-trapezoid shape and two handles seems to be ideal, with a cell phone and zip pocket on the inside.

The perfect bag depends on the carrier's lifestyle - stash n' go, super-organized, slouchy, structured, frilly, no fuss...etc, etc...and also on the occasion and one's outfit-nothing's simple with fashion Huh

interesting subject Smiley

How about a knitting pattern metamorphasis challenge?
For example, some people in blogland altered the pomatomus sock pattern from knitty into a pair of fingerless gloves, and others have schemed up clapotis hats and fingerless gloves as well. credit to the original author of the pattern altered would have to be given, of course. Just think, branching out sweaters, rusted penny hats, etc...

How did you knit that so fast?! I'm amazed!

I love the color you used for this pattern- maybe if you can't decide on a way to wear it it can just be used as an extra-pretty window valance(or even displayed as wall art)?

My camera is finally cooperating! DogGrrl sent a truly awesome swap package for my boston terrier, Maggie  Grin She just had a long walk with the halter DogGrrl sent so she looks a widdle bit sleepy in the pics:)

A stylin' pink napping blanky with some snazzy embroidery, where she snoozes every day now

Pretty in pink!(her fave color)- a vinyl doggie coat lined with super-soft kelly green fabric, and one of her two personalized squeeky bones she just loves!

what a thoughtful shirt! the color looks great and she's so proud when I put it on her:)

Another luxurious odggie coat so comfy she snuggled right in to sleep in it, awww

DogGrrl also sent a complete clicker-training system with instruction booklets, pouch, a treat-holding fanny pack, a halter-style collar, and a super-sweet card.

Thanks so much DogGrrl!! Maggie and I love everything!! Cheesy
