1  Re: Fiber Friday - 12/15/06 in Spinning: Completed Projects by thebagfairy on: December 16, 2006 09:42:05 PM
Hello! I'm also new to spinning- here's my first skein, a thick and thin two-ply made with a top-whorl drop spindle and merino roving dyed with wilton's.
It's only 28 yards, but the colors came out nice- vibrant pinks, orange, canary yellow and undyed white spots

and a closeup

My camera is finally cooperating! DogGrrl sent a truly awesome swap package for my boston terrier, Maggie  Grin She just had a long walk with the halter DogGrrl sent so she looks a widdle bit sleepy in the pics:)

A stylin' pink napping blanky with some snazzy embroidery, where she snoozes every day now

Pretty in pink!(her fave color)- a vinyl doggie coat lined with super-soft kelly green fabric, and one of her two personalized squeeky bones she just loves!

what a thoughtful shirt! the color looks great and she's so proud when I put it on her:)

Another luxurious odggie coat so comfy she snuggled right in to sleep in it, awww

DogGrrl also sent a complete clicker-training system with instruction booklets, pouch, a treat-holding fanny pack, a halter-style collar, and a super-sweet card.

Thanks so much DogGrrl!! Maggie and I love everything!! Cheesy

5  Re: Clapotis from Knitty in Knitalongs by thebagfairy on: October 25, 2006 07:41:47 PM
Here's my clappy so far:

Less than half of a hank of Schaefer Ann (Kermie colorway) has got me through half of the straight-row repeats, but on size 4 needles and heavy laceweight/ light fingering weight yarn, I can't knit it as fast as a worsted weight project (all those teensy delicate stitches!).

I'm sticking to the pattern and it's only about 14" wide, so it'll be a luxe-sized scarf.

7  Re: Newbies Only Swap! in The Swap Gallery by thebagfairy on: August 05, 2006 03:49:40 PM
I got my swap package from Punky*Bratzter this afternoon! I feel so spoiled, just look at all the wonderful items she made:

A lovely bookmark I'm using to reread Harry Potter GOF, a necklace with a dainty, pretty little cross, an eye pillow and handmade soap that smell like walking into a gourmet coffee bistro, a whimsical point protector, awesome earrings, and (how did she know I needed one?read my mind, lol!) a keychain with one of my favorite Mucha prints on it for my car keys!! Can you believe this only half of what was in the box?! Yep, there's more!:

some Christian rock CDs, a needle/pincushion pouch that'll be PERFECT for doing embroidery, the prettiest knitting needle roll ever, and a miniature of my boston terrier, Maggie! It was so cute my eyes started to tear up!

I love the little pouty expression on her face, and look, she's even got a little squiggly tail like the real Maggie!!

THE most beautiful stitch markers! These'll come in handy for when I knit a Clapotis Grin

and finally here's an action shot of the needle roll after I unceremoniously dumped my needles out of my old makeshift roll and moved them into their new, chic roll! Lovely, lovely lovely- and all so well made!

Punky*Bratzter, you are an exceptionally talented craftster, thank you for making this first swap so awesome!!

9  Passionflower 2-in-1 headband w/TUT! in Knitting: Completed Projects by thebagfairy on: August 01, 2006 02:14:19 PM
I got inspired by the panta KAL thread and winged this pattern:

no sunny days ahead here in H*town, so I took pics indoors with my shower-fresh hair, lol

I noticed that when the headband wasn't on my head, the lace wanted to fold in on itself, creating a faux-cabled edging look...

eureka! a 2-in-1 headband!

So on to the tut...

MATERIALS:     One pair of US size 6 needles, any worsted weight yarn of your choice(you could easily make 2 from one ball of Kureyon, I used colorway #170), and a tapestry needle to weave in yarn ends and sew the ends of the headband together.

The headband will end up being approx. 20" around, and stretches to fit most headsizes, though this pattern can easily be modifed to a different size, or even a band of your favorite lace pattern!

PATTERN:

CO 10sts

Work 12 rows in 2x2 ribbing (k2,p2)

next row: k2, m1(pick up the second bar down and leave it on your right needle), p2, m1, k2, m1, p2, m1, k2

next row(ws): p2, k4, p2, k4, p2
next row(rs):  k2, p4, k2, p4, k2

10  Pixie Dog Hat in Knitting: Completed Projects by thebagfairy on: July 02, 2006 09:42:21 PM
I just got my first set of dpns and wanted to take a crack at making a hat...so I referenced my copy of stich n' bitch, winged a pattern, and finished in a few hours:) I was so excited to take pictures I took poor little Maggie out of bed to try it on!

C'mon Maggie, look at the camera!

"*sigh*...can I go to bed now?"

Zzzzzzzzzzz...

Even though she wasn't too happy about wearing it, it was worth the laughs! I think I'll line it so it stands up straight and keeps her little ears warm during the winter:)
Thanks for looking Grin
