81  NEWS AND DISCUSSION ABOUT CRAFTSTER / Suggest New Boards and New Features / Re: Photography - More Art Less Craft on: February 17, 2006 05:37:17 PM
another board for photography would be great! photography is most deffinately an art form but it almost seems out of place in the more art less craft board everything in there is paintings and sketches and stuff photography seems to often be overlooked! i think the critisism would be more helpful if there was a board dedicated specificaly to photography and the people veiwing the board were looking specificaly for photographs! great idea!

Some of those look like brochure material (esp the fireworks Smiley) I like most of em a lot.
The ones I'm personally iffy about are the lizard, the girraffe and the one with the bridge and the mountain.
Something about the composure of the lizard and the giraffe seems off. Your eye just doesn't move around them very well. It took me a while to figure out what the lizard was. They're good photographs, but they're not quite as good as the rest of the ones you've posted. The water in the bridge one is tilted... which gives me an uneasy reaction to it.  If that's what you're going for, good! You've done it! But the scene looks so serene it seems like it would make much more sense if it were stable horizontally.. just completely peaceful.

Also, did you see a plane explode or what?? Intense dude.

thank you very much for your kind words and also for your critisism! it's kind of funy i actualy dont have a picture of a lizard do you mean the second one? the rock looks a little bit lizard-ish but it's just a rock. that was just supposed to be a picture of a waterfall....i don't know if that changes the way you see the picture but wahtever! i do agree with your comment on the giraffe though....i would have much prefered if the giraffe were in the right side of the picture looking towards the open space on the left instead of having empty space on the right and the giraffe staring off the edge of the picture but it was a difficult shot to get! all the animal photos were taken on the "jungle safari" ride. i actualy had to shoot them out of the side of a moving jeep! very bumpy and not slow enough to make taking pictures easy! and about your comment on the mountain and river picture i didn't even notice that the horizon was crooked now that you point it out i'm getting the same queezy feeling. that's easy enough to fix though! i can do it in photoshop no problem thanks so much for pointing it out! and as for the plane! yes i did see it explode! it was durring a presentation of Indiana Jones Raider of the Lost Arc show! it was really cool i was actualy selected to be an extra in the show so i got to dress up in robes and stuff it was awesome! and the show was great for photo opportunities!
thanks again for all your comments! Smiley

i just got back from dinsey world in Florida and on top of having an absolout blast while i was there i got some great shots! and i'm not talking about the typical "family stands with mickey mouse and smiles" type shots i'm talking legitamately good photographs from an artistic point! i was quite pleased with the way they turned out. i would love to hear your comments both positive and negative! all feedback is very much appreciated! tell me what you thinK! thanks!

thanks for taking the time to view my work! and thanks in advance for your critiques!
84  MORE ART, LESS CRAFT / More Art, Less Craft: Completed Works / Re: some of my digital art! i heart Photoshop on: February 03, 2006 07:22:14 AM
thanks for the comments guys! the one of my sister is also my favourite, i really like the way it turned out! she's pretty cool, deffinatly unique that's why i love her lol.
in reply to matuta's comment, i also was not completely satisfied with the way the circle turned out! i wanted it to look more like a sphere, like a bubble or something light and airy that would add to the movement of the picture and make it that much more dreamy looking.....hmmm i think i may know how to make it look more 3D i should go back and fix it! as for making the faded images bigger, i tried to do taht, but these pictures were taken on my sisters camera which is basicly just a point and shoot digital camera, low resoloution and stuff (i may be able to take new picutes with my new digital SLR now though....ooooh super high resoloution *drools*) anyways stretching these images any larger makes the quality really poor, it gets very pixilated and stuff so i opted to stick with the smaller images in return for decent qulaity!
85  MORE ART, LESS CRAFT / More Art, Less Craft: Completed Works / some of my digital art! i heart Photoshop on: February 02, 2006 08:54:55 PM
i absoloutly adore photoshop especialy the new CS2 version (rumor has it that adobe has bought out macromedia so the new photoshop may be combined with Flash Player and all those other nifty programs too...i'm exicted) these are some projects i made a while ago, i havn't really had a place to share them so i'd love to hear your comments and especialy your critisisms! tell me what i could do better! i can never get better until i know what i'm doing wrong! i'm looking into a career in graphics design! there is still so much i need to learn but i think it would be something i'd love doing! anyways tell me what you think!

A Tribute to my hero John Lennon...done a while back the blending could use some work...but other than that i'm pleased with it

Emo, Emu....the words are so simmilar they are just crying out for jokes like this

continuing the emo joke how about my tickle me emo? ...the vest is kinnda flat, i should fix that but other than that i like it

This is my sister "dancing" in her tutu (which my mom made for her) she dosnt' actualy take dance or anything this is just something she wears on a day to day basis...i thought it was super nifty

STAR WARS!!!! yay!!! i created the image in photoshop and then my sister brought it into school and used it as a picture for a project in tech class, she put LED lights in the light saber and the little lights in Vader's chest peice...the right side of the picture is a little funny looking but thats only because i had to take a picture of the finished product (with the LED lights) with my digital camera and it left a big flash mark so i covered it up in photoshop!

anyway thanks for taking the time to view my work! comments are greatly appreciated!

i like these alot! thanks for linking me. what lyrics did you write on there? these are way cool.

just whatever lyrics i could think of! alot of it was whatever song i was listening to at that moment and others were just lyrics taht i happened to like at that time! alot of nirvana, alot of beatles, alot of AFI, ummm a bunch of other stuff!

Update: i tried to squeeze myself into these jeans a little while ago and realized that i've gained quite a bit of weight (damn working at McDonalds...makes you fat) i can still do them up and everything but the skin tight strech denim fabric doesn't look good at all! so i've decided to go to goodwill and find anotehr pair of light jeans (that arn't wearing out) and make myself a new pair of lyric jeans! thanks for all the help guys!

these look very similar to my jeans http://www.craftster.org/forum/index.php?topic=71016.msg668021#msg668021 lol the style of the jeans themselves are even similar! i think i like your writing better though! i wanted to do it handwritten (as opposed to printed) but my handwriting is terrible and my printing is much better...and my fabric pen (i find sharpies fade more in the wash) was too wide to do a fine writing like yours! anyways great pants! i love them i need to make myself a new pair too!
88  CLOTHING / Clothing: Completed Projects: Reconstructed / Re: my funky song lyric jeans (img heavy) on: January 02, 2006 04:44:26 PM
You know.. I did almost the exact same thing. I had a pair of jeans that I loooooved! Well after years of wear and tear and a Nature Trail accident (ripping a huge, yet freakishly straght, tear into the left leg) I decided to cover the entire right leg in song lyrics. Except..my song lyrics were only Nirvana lyrics, as I am a die-hard fan. Its not as even as yours. Mine just look nappy and grungy and like I was stoned. Yours look beautiful though! I love the eveness of them. I have mostly the same size except "Can you feel my love buzz?" is written HUGE down my right leg.

it's strange because i was considering doing the exact same thing! at the time i was a HUGE nirvana fan it still shows in the jeans a little bit though with the stoned smiley logo and stuff...and as you probably can't tell from the pics a good quarter (at least) of the song lyrics are nirvana ones. but then i changed my mind and decided to dedicate them to several of my favourite bands instead!

Hi I'm new here, this site was recommended in another general forum i belong to and i checked it out and now i think I'm hooked. i have been lurking around here for a couple days adoring all of the amazing projects created by all of you and i can say i am truly inspired by all of your talent and creativity! i decided it was time for me to post my weak attempt at a jean makeover and also to ask for some of your expert advice on how to save them from the wear and tear of time.

so here's the story of my favourite jeans. i have had these pants for more than 5 years and they are possibly the most comfortable pair of pants on the face of the planet i absolutely love these jeans! but inevitably after 5 years worth of love (aka wearing them virtually every day) they were becoming quite faded and ratty looking, they were covered in stains and the once rich blue denim had faded into a grungy light grayish blue. i just couldn't part with these pants though so i decided to give them a unique new flare and use the grungy-ness of them to my advantage! so 2 fabric pens, countless CDs, a couple cups of hot chocolate and several hours later i emerged from my room with these fantastic jeans covered in lyrics from some of my favourite songs and embellished with logos and names from some of my favourite bands. i had originally intended to do both legs but i kind of liked the uneven-ness of having just one leg...and also it took a hella lot of time to do just one leg and i didn't have the patience at the time to finish the other. a couple weeks went by and i was getting alot of compliments on my pants and i was all happy again because my old jeans were restored into something wearable and fashionable again until...DUN DUN DUN...  the fabric in the posterior of my pants began to give out! i tried one day before school to sew on a couple pockets to hide the unsightly holes but the fabric in the rear of my jeans just wasn't strong enough to hold the stitches (one pocket stayed on...it looks a little retarded but that's what a 5 minute quick soloution looks like when you are rushing to catch a school bus) anyways the story up to this point has a sad ending...i haven't worn my nifty jeans since the pocket fell off...they have been sitting in my drawer all alone for several months now waiting for me to find a soloution and rescue them from the bottom of the junk drawer that they have been condemned to. I'm hoping that maybe your expertise can help me save these poor innocent jeans and bring them back life!

anyways enough of my Corney jean story how bout some pictures?

The front of my jeans on the floor

Some detail on the front

Some more detail on the front

The back of my jeans on the floor

Some detail on the back

some more detail on the back

the horrifying hole on my buttocks. where the red is showing though is where the fabric has torn completely, the faint white lines around the hole is where the fabric is starting to give and is likely to break soon...the ugly pocket on the right is covering some similar holes. does anyone have any suggestions on how to save my favourite jeans? or do you think it's just time to *sniffle* say goodbye?

thanks so much for taking the time to look at my post! and thanks in advance for any suggestions you can give!
