wow i love that! it is really hard to do self portraits no?  i envy you very much!  also you are very photogenic.

thanks again to everyone. i never expected to get such a response i'm glad they are appreciated!
yes it generaly is difficult to do self portraits, it was made much easier by the help of one of my classmates who set up the lighting and shot the photos for me. still we shot nearly 300 photos with only a handfull of acceptable ones. i am much more comfortable being behind the camera ratehr than in front. lol i'm real not all that photogenic 98% of the photos had ridiculous faces and the makeup is caked on pretty thick. i'm happy with the way a few of them turned out though! thanks again!

I wonder what Johnny is going to play?
LOL, I see Johnny as the Mad Hatter....

I really love all three of these but the frame is my favourite, I would love to see more variations on it. I would have loved to see you in that itty bitty house with your arms and legs stuck out the doors and windows though (I love that scene)  Grin

Excellent work! Eve

GAAH! Johnny would make the smexiest mad hatter ever!
i do have some more variations on the frame and some simmilar pictures with the same lighting. i'l upload them this afternoon. and yes i would have loved to have done the full thing with arms and legs sprawled through al the openings in the house. however that would have been 3 times the amount of work. i would have had to decorate not only the inside, but also the outside of the box and then build a small scaled yard to be seen in the pictures. sadly i didn't have the time to do all that and that would have pushed my budget through the roof!

These are so convincing! The props, lighting, and point of view of the shots are great! Are you sure you name isn't Alice? Grin

I WISH!
...my middle name is alison though! hmm alison...Alice In! IT MUST BE TRUE!

lol thanks so much! Cheesy

Great job! I like the set on the first and last one a lot. As far as looking at it purely from a photography standpoint, I like the middle one. The lighting on that one is great.

my thoughts exactly! i like the idea of the first and third (and i worked my ass off to get the sets the way i wanted them) but the second one is most deffinatly the most effective from a purely photographic standpoint! when i hand them in i am going to get the first one printed large (i think the size is 12 x16) and the second one will be printed smaller probably around 8.5X11

I would love to see more photos from this set. Very cool concept!

I got all excited today when I found out that Tim Burton is directing an Alice in Wonderland movie. ee!

WHAT?! REALLY!?! that is uber exciting! i am a huge tim burton fan and an even bigger alice fan! cant wait to see this!

thank you all Smiley i do have some more photos (several hundred in fact) these, in my oppinion were some of the best but i may try to upload a couple other ones with different poses later on

as to the question about the house, it is made out of a large cardboard box (i belive it was a box from a stove) i just went to the mall and asked them for a big box. then i painted the walls and that was a huge flop! it looked like i had just painted a cardboard box and by that point i had already spent my budget bying the paint so i had to opt for something i had around the house, some scrap fabric, so i covered the walls with a yellowish fabric using spray adhesive (some wrinkles were removed in photoshop) the floor is a marble patterend shlef liner i bought at the dollar store and the moulding around the celing is actual moulding that i cut to size and hot glued in place. i bought the furniture at teh dollar store and stained it then bought little accessories and hot glued most of them in place (everything except the tea set on the table) and made little mittens and things to go in the chest
it was alot of work but i really think it was worth it!

these are a series of pictures taken for a self portrait style photography project at school. i was rather happy with the way they turned out so i figured id share with you and would love to hear your comments and dare i suggest, negative critisisms on the shots. i created all the props and the house itself, i was running short on time so my mom sewed the white apron and a classmate lit and took the photo for me (sadly it's difficult to be in front of and behind the camera at the same time) thanks in advance for any feedback Smiley

***EDIT****
here are some more photos from the shoot added upon request from several members

30  CROCHET / Amigurumi: Completed Projects / Re: Mermaid on: June 23, 2007 09:47:54 AM
she is adorable. i think she should deffinatly have arms though! lol when i first saw the picture without reading the title or anything i thought it was a crochet....umm...well....male genetal organ (if you get my drift) in awesome colours. i mean that in itself would be pretty awesome but since it's supposed to be a mermaid i think arms might stop certain people from seeing the wrong thing Tongue i love it though! really well done!
