41  Halloween / Halloween Costumes / Bowser the Bull Pug! on: October 28, 2008 08:20:22 PM
As far as I know, my sister isn't a member of Craftster. She recently made a costume for her Pug, Bowser, and he placed 1st in the pet costume contest he was in. I wanted to share his picture with you. =D

My sister makes poly clay dolls, and she made Bowser a little Cowboy to ride on his back... haha. And gave him little horns. I thought the costume was hilarious.  Grin

I hope she doesn't mind me sharing, hehe.
42  POTTERY, CERAMICS, POLYMER CLAY / Polymer Clay: Completed Projects / Blood Spatter Jewelry! Yay! on: October 18, 2008 09:52:40 PM
I was watching my favorite tv show, Dexter, last Sunday and it gave me an idea!

So... I had a little fun with some red paint and some old paintbrushes.  Grin

Necklaces:

I REALLY like how this one turned out. =)

This one is simple, but I like it. =)

Rings!

As you may have guessed, the hearts and stars were made out of polymer clay.

I hope you like.  Smiley
43  COOKING / Dessert / The dark purple, legless, armless, and lumpy robot cake! on: October 07, 2008 02:08:54 AM
**If you don't feel like reading my loooong story... just scroll down and look at my lame cake... hehe.  Tongue **

Ok... so I LOVE Ace of Cakes and any other cake decorating show on tv. Lately I've been hooked on that Amazing Wedding Cakes one on the WE channel. I also read this board daily and admire all of the awesome cakes you all have made wishing that I could do the same.

So today I was finally motivated to give it a shot! I went to Michael's and Wal-Mart and picked up everything I'd need. I just went with boxed cake mix and the canned frosting because I was just going to focus on the decorating portion this time. I figured I'd give the whole "bake a cake from scratch" thing a go the next time around.

I got yellow cake mix and buttercream frosting. I have no clue if that's a good combination or not... it's just what I decided to get as I was standing in the cake aisle. I also picked up the marshmallows, food coloring, and powdered sugar for the fondant.

I decided I was going to make a robot cake because I freakin' love robots!  Grin

I got home and worked on the fondant. I don't have an apron... because... well... I don't ever cook or bake! So needless to say, I got powdered sugar all over me. I wanted light gray fondant.... so I figured I'd add a tiny bit of black food coloring. Well... I got DARK PURPLE! AAHHH!  Angry I didn't want a purple robot! That's just not cool! But eh... I figured it would have to do. I also mixed some red, blue, and green fondant... but the green was too sticky and had to be tossed in the trash.  Sad Then I put it all in the fridge.

A few hours later... I mixed the cake mix and baked two cakes. I added red food coloring to make the cakes pink... but they're actually more orange.  Undecided I trimmed them after they cooled, and stacked them. Then I cut them into the "robot peices".... ya know... the head, body, arms, and legs. Yeah.

Then I got out the icing and started to frost them. This is when I realized that this was not going to go like I had planned. The cake basically disentigrated when I added the frosting! AAHHHHHH!  Angry So eh... they looked horrible, but the fondant would hide that.

Then I brought out the fondant. I started to roll it out... which sucked because my roller was too small but I was cheap and wouldn't get the bigger one. Also, I had barely any table space because I was lazy and didn't want to clean.  Undecided

I knew the fondant was too thick, but I was lacking patience at this point in time to I layed it on to the cake. I smoothed it out as best I could... and trimmed the edges. After I added it to the head and body, I realized I only had enough for one arm! Well... a robot would look silly with one arm, so I just let my Mom have that peice. =/

So now I had a robot head and a robot body... and that's all! Darn it! So I rolled out the red and blue fondant and cut out the eyes, mouth, and heart. It was too thick... but I didn't care because really... I just wanted to finish the damn thing so I could use the computer!  Roll Eyes

So... now I present to you... the dark purple, legless, armless, and lumpy robot cake.  Undecided

I surrounded him with pink icing to cover up the horrible trimming job I did with my pizza cutter... hehe.  Lips sealed

Look at how thick the eyes and mouth are!  Embarrassed

And the inside of the cake:

My Mom said the fondant is gross and chewy. It also turns your mouth dark purple! Hehe.  Roll Eyes

So eh... I guess it was only my first try and practice makes perfect. I know it would have been better if I had a little patience... but I'm horrible when it comes to that.  Tongue Oops.  Embarrassed

44  JEWELRY AND TRINKETS / Trinkets and Jewelry: Completed Projects: General / Aawww..... what pretty skull jewelry? on: September 26, 2008 06:47:16 PM
I usually stick to bright, colorful beads... but I wanted to make something a bit different. I've had these skull charms for a while and I thought it would be cool to use some sparkly, girly beads.  Grin I really like how they turned out!

Oohh.. and a necklace!

I like how the pink and blue look together.  Smiley
45  JEWELRY AND TRINKETS / Trinkets and Jewelry: Completed Projects: General / I heart Tarina Tarantino... I do not heart her prices. My version. =) *Edited* on: September 25, 2008 08:41:40 PM
I LOVE Tarina Tarantino jewelry, but being the poor DIY artist that I am... I can't afford anything of hers! I found this awesometastic cameo necklace on her site which I could kill for... but it's $363!  Shocked Shocked Shocked

So... I decided to make my own. Now, it isn't as awesome as Tarina's... but I'm quite proud of it. =D

Picture time!  Grin

I looked all over the place for a hot pink cameo and could not find one. I found this green one at Michael's and decided it would do.

I rarely make beaded necklaces... but I've discovered how fun it is! Although, I did get beads all over my table.  Angry

So what do you think? Oh! Here's the inspiration:

I will try and get an action shot later. =D

*****

Yay! I made another one, today. =D I think I like this one even more.  Grin

Piano Hearts!  Grin

I'm quite happy with these.  Grin The hearts are smaller than the previous ones I made. They're about 2 inches tall by 2 inches wide.

I FINALLY got some more rollerskate charms! I was so happy to finally have some more, that I went a bit overboard. Whoops.  Roll Eyes

These ones are my favorite:

And the rest. =]

Now I'm out of rollerskate charms again.  Sad Darn it!
48  TOYS, DOLLS AND PLAYTHINGS / Toys, Dolls and Playthings: Completed Projects / A stuffed dinosaur for my honey bunches. =] on: August 04, 2008 05:46:58 PM
I am about to ramble on because I tend to do that, but if you don't feel like reading, just skip on over and look at the pictures, hehe.  Tongue

Ok, so I've completely fallen for this super awesome guy. Only problem... he lives in Wisconsin and I'm in California!   Cry

We both have the same twisted sense of humor. It's amazing that I've finally found someone who gets me! Eeek! It's so great!

Anywho, we have a ton of inside jokes. One of them being that I have a pet dinosaur. I feed my pet dinosaur his socks that I steal from him. One day he told me that I should make a lifesize stuffed dinosaur and I said, "Yeah right! Do you know how expensive that would be to stuff?!" Stuffing is expensive, lol.  Tongue I then said, "I guess I could stuff it with children." So the joke continued on and on... and now my dinosaur is stuffed with dead children because they've been in there so long and I didn't feed them.  Undecided See... this is the twisted sense of humor I'm talking about.

Anyway, I decided that I wanted to put my craftyness to use and make him something. And of course I was going to make him a stuffed dinosaur! It was pretty simple. I'm sorry for the dark pictures. I was too excited to get it packed to send!

Picture time!

Here's a close up of his face. The mouth and nostril are black felt which I hand-stitched on. The sock is also felt. And then I added a googly eye. Hehe.

So I decided to give him a little pouch. I hand-sewed a little cupcake on the flap that covers the pouch... which also has something to do with an inside joke, but I won't go into detail, hehe.

It's the fabric on the back of the flap that is awesome! Dun dun dun!!....

STAR WARS! He is a HUGE Star Wars fan. =] I also used it for the pouch fabric, as you can see.

Why did he need a pouch? Because I needed to stuff him with some dead children!  Grin I could not figure out what to use for this. I bought some cheap kid barbies, but they looked terrible and too lifelike. I wanted it to be funny and not morbid. I finally found these little rubber party favors that would work perfectly. They had smiley faces that I removed with nail polish remover. I used sharpie to give them their new faces. Hehe.

He received it today and he LOVES it! I'm sooo happy.

Oh, and I was so pleased with his, that I made myself one.

I told him we have to get the dinos back together as soon as possible because mine is lonely, now.  Sad

Aahhh. Ok, sorry for the looong story, hehe. I'm just so happy! I hope you like it, hehe.

49  JEWELRY AND TRINKETS / Trinkets and Jewelry: Completed Projects: General / Super duper awesomely cool charm necklaces. ^_^ on: June 06, 2008 02:22:34 AM
I made these charm necklaces yesterday. I used pink Hello Kitty guitar picks (I love them!), some awesome guitar charms, plastic gun charms, and other various charms.

I really like them.  Grin

Edit: Eeek. Sorry for the huge pictures. I will edit them tomorrow. I'm sooo tired.
50  POTTERY, CERAMICS, POLYMER CLAY / Polymer Clay: Completed Projects / Super duper cool star rings! on: June 06, 2008 02:16:11 AM
I love these... because they are so simple and cute!  Grin

I made the stars out of Fimo. I glossed them to make them all shiny... then I attached them to some adjustable rings.

The pink zebra one in the front is my favorite. I will be making some more this weekend.  Grin
