1  Re: 1/2 Yards & Fat Quarters Swap in The Swap Gallery by folara on: March 25, 2007 07:40:03 PM
I received from Ezri_B last Thursday, but I'm just now getting the pics uploaded. She sent some wonderful fabric!

The two on the bottom are half yards, and the two on top are fat quarters. I love them so much! The apple and pear fabric makes me smile every time I see it! Thanks so much, Ezri_B!

2  Armchair repainted and upholstered in Amy Butler in Crafty Housewares: Completed Projects: Reconstructed by folara on: March 06, 2007 05:42:37 PM
So I loved the lines of this chair, but the vinyl/pleather HAD to go. Here are the before and after shots. You can read more about it on my blog.

Before:

After:

I also made a fun pillow for it (or for the couch or something, 'cause I guess it's a little matchy-matchy) using the circle tutorial here. Here's my very mod (yet very IKEA) desk chair modeling the pillow:

What do you think?

I received from FlashleyAshley today! Here's what I got:

She sent a bonus piece, too.

And here are my three favorite fabrics:

There are two beautiful shades of blue polka dots on a chocolate background, a lovely chrysanthemum print, and a pretty tropical print with birds!

Thanks, FlashleyAshley!

4  Hoping for an early spring--pleated tote w/ pics in Purses, Bags, Wallets: Completed Projects: General by folara on: February 04, 2007 01:28:51 PM
I made a pleated tote from mgenevieve's tute here.

I lined it and added a matching flower brooch. I love how it turned out--it's small, but poofy, so it can hold a ton!

Here's a model shot:

And here's a shot of the pretty lining fabric I used:

Thanks for looking!

5  Two green Christmas stockings [big pictures!] (complete w/ photos) in Winter Holidays by folara on: November 18, 2006 07:38:27 PM
I made these for my boyfriend and myself to go in our new apartment. We'll both be going home to our families for Christmas, but we still need a place to keep our gifts to each other.

"Stockings and a garland"

The fabrics were all just from my stash. Most are new, but a few are pretty old. The awesome dingle balls and the other trim are from Dressew in Vancouver.

"Daniel's stocking" width="200"

"Sarah's stocking" width="200"

I'm really happy with them. What do you think?

Stuff looks awesome, guys!

Frogz in in the process of moving, so here are some pics I took of the stuff that my boyfriend and I sent to her and her SO.

For him:

A usb thumb drive embedded in a toy car, some glass marble refrigerator magnets, and a homemade flashlight made out of an LED and a Tic-Tac case.

For her:

A mini tote bag with a Vespa applique, a retro-Apple iPod cozy, and some refrigerator magnets made with taxidermy eyes (eww...but she said she likes biology!)

For more pictures and some closeups, see My Flickr.

First to receive! Frogz and her boyfriend Nick were great swap partners and we found out that we had a lot in common.

Here's what we got:

Nick stenciled a llama eating a daisy on a shirt for me!

Frogz handsewed an iBook cozy for my Daniel's (my boyfriends's) computer (I think Nick also did that lovely Apple stencil).

And they framed a picture that Frogz took for our new apartment--it's broken down into four smaller prints that are meant to hang in four separate frames, spaced out a little bit, but they couldn't find any at IKEA (I think I saw just the right thing at the IKEA in Seattle, though, so I'll pick some up next time I go.)

Thanks frogz! This swap was so much fun!

Looking forward to seeing what everyone else gets...

8  Re: I <3 Paisley Swap Gallery in The Swap Gallery by folara on: July 08, 2006 06:28:18 PM
After a long, tiring day, I came home this afternoon to my package from Sugarducky on the doorstep!
She made me three little pillows in coral and sea-foam green, the colors I asked for because that's how I'm redoing my room in September. She also sent me part of a giant paisley scarf (she has the other half and is planning to make a skirt with it).

They're so great--I love the big scallops on the flower-shaped pillow!
Close up of the piping:

Thank you, Sugarducky! Everything was well worth the wait!

9  Lovely ruffly brown apron *UPDATE!* Lovely CORAL apron! (lots of images) in Clothing: Completed Projects: General by folara on: March 07, 2006 05:33:50 PM
I do love ruffles, and I'm so proud of how this turned out! I made it last night when I should have been studying. I don't know why I need an apron--I live in a dorm, and I have nowhere to cook! Well, maybe thats exactly why I need an apron.

~*~*~*~*~
UPDATE: 3/24/2006
~*~*~*~*~

Just a few days after sucess with the brown apron, I came up with this. The coral fabric is from the home furnishings department and is pretty thick, almost canvas-y. The print for the ruffles is a quilting calico. Since the main fabric was *really* prone to raveling, this was quite an excersise in finishing techniques.

Two modeling shots:

And a close-up of the fabric:

10  More iPod cozies! (Tons of images here!) in Purses, Bags, Wallets: Completed Projects: General by folara on: January 30, 2006 12:24:28 AM
It started out as one felt cozy for my boyfriend, and now I have fledgling plans to sell these, one I can get enough made! Here's what I've got so far--each one ends up looking better than the last.

This one is Daniel's. It's for a 4th gen 20GB and it has a trombone on the front and a bass clef on the back

And here are a red pansy and a peony, both for ipod mini:

Two more for ipod mini:

A whale for another 4th gen ipod:

And probably the best yet, these two have windows and full front flaps. The lion is for my ipod mini and the leaf fits a regular 4th gen ipod:

What do you guys think?
