21  Re: Givers and Needers Swap R 5 Gallery! in The Swap Gallery by darkladymajesta on: May 01, 2009 09:52:22 AM
I got my angel package days ago from RhymeswOrange. I love it I do! It has just been a crazy week here at school. Not only have I been preparing for exams. But I get to drive for 8 hours soon to get my husband and finally bring him home. He has been training in GA while I live in VA. Gotta make space for him too. Why is it when husbands have to be away for a little while the craft supplies just explode everywhere  Roll Eyes so without further ado, my angel package from RhymeswOrange: She sent a paper crafts package. There are tons of collage papers, stickers, blank envelopes, cards for card making, books for reading then altering, and stamps! I am working on the thank you gift this weekend to mail by the 8th.

The whole thing

Some of my favorite parts

I also happened to get my Thank you gift from EdelC last night. So since I was taking and uploading photos I got to upload these too. Such a sweet gift!
Here is everything:

Some oven mits:

A wallet that I am going to use for my stamps and postage stickers and a stuffed mushroom (for pins?)

Some inchies that were wrapped in a lovely letter

And last but certainly not least, a cute pair of earrings that I just might wear to work tonight.

22  Crafting Group For Newport News Area in Virginia by darkladymajesta on: March 11, 2009 03:59:00 PM

This is a photo from the snow we had last week... and yesterday was shorts weather  Roll Eyes

Hello everyone! I am a crafter in the Newport News area and am really tired of having to drive so far to have a meet up. So before I make any commitments across the water I wanted to see if anyone was interested in meeting up with me here in Newport News. I was looking for maybe a once a month meet up for all of us busy people. We could meet at a public place (Library or Cafe) or at Christopher Newport (I am a student there). I am currently studying art. So leave a message here in this thread and we can work out a meet up time and place.

I am interested in all sorts of crafts. I currently scrapbook and make some cards. I also know how to do a few simple book binding techniques. I am open to learning new crafts too. If anyone is interested I could do a workshop or something. My blog is http://onecraftyarmybride.blogspot.com

And if there is absolutely no one here in Newport News, I would be willing to drive to Yorktown and Williamsburg (just not as often) So let me know!

23  Re: Clean-Along Its time for a major cleanup and redo- Post Your Own Pics in Interior Decorating: Completed Projects by darkladymajesta on: February 25, 2009 07:37:35 AM
Well, I managed to turn in my first major project for color theory. And now I have time to post (when I should be working on a paper) Oh well, paint is drying on my crafts projects (for a class I swear Wink ) So I wanted to post some in progress photos. It is nowhere near what I want it to be organization wise, and other areas of my room are still crazy messy. But on with the photos!

A reminder of what I started with in this corner:

What it looked like just after a clean up mid project. For color I had to be very neat and have a quality paint surface, so it was a challenge just to keep it clean while I worked. I definitely want to finish organizing my pegboard and those black baskets that are under it. I got to the ones on the left, but the ones on the right I didn't have enough time for.

This is one of the many areas that still needs work, the desk that I don't use for anything except to hold stuff. It used to hold my laptop but now my husband has my laptop and I have his desktop. So I dont really use the desk part anymore. But I really need space for my books, and there is no other space in the house for it, so it stays in my room.

But why I really wanted to show it is this photo set up. It makes me super happy! There are the champagne glasses from my surprise wedding reception and a jar that had nowhere else to be and has my pennies in it behind the photos. They aren't really that noticeable in real life, the flash just caught the glass.

Some awesome transformations here! I had my room somewhat cleaned after I moved in, but I couldn't find anything. And then school started back up again and I just started tossing stuff everywhere (no time to organize I kept telling myself) well, now I can barely move in here and I gotta do something! So I am posting a before photo to hopefully motivate myself.

Proof this room was at one time clean:

And how it was a few days ago:

It looks much better now, but I have to actually work at my art desk to finish a project that is due on Tuesday at 8am O.O I am probably not going to sleep for the next 48 hours. And it will probably be really messy again soon >.> crafts class can do that to a room. Am I the only person that procrastinates by cleaning? When I have a paper due my room/home is the cleanest it has ever been  Roll Eyes

28  Wedding Thankyou Book Prototype (Picture Heavy) in Scrapbooking: Completed Projects by darkladymajesta on: January 16, 2009 10:02:02 PM
OK, so my husband's family surprised us with a reception and were wonderful to us during our visit over the holidays. We both appreciated the break so much that I had to thank them. I hope this is better than a store bought gift. I am thinking about changing some of the journaling around and the font for it. I am not sure if I like it but I will give it a day or so. I am loving the way the rest of the book has come out so far though. I am liking the gem on the cover but am not sure if it is too much for this simple book. So let me know what you guys like, option A or B. I am definitely keeping this book but will make a few changes for the ones I am going to send to them. (I only have to make three).

The photos were taken either by me or his family then all edited by me in Adobe Photoshop. Oh, and it took me about 3 hours to put the whole thing together. And two hours of that was photo editing and playing around with the journaling. The actual process of putting the book together took about an hour.

The cover (Option A)

The cover (Option B)

The journaling is much easier to read in the larger photos on my flickr -->http://www.flickr.com/photos/darkladymajesta/
