41  CLOTHING / Clothing: Completed Projects: General / Re: What you guys have all been waiting for- - - on: March 26, 2006 07:46:09 AM
Yay!  I'm making this in some vintage floral fabric my mum made a baby dress out of for me when I was little!  Nothing like recycling!   Cheesy

So far it's going really well, I've cut out all the pieces of the dress and sewn them together, sewed in the waist ties, and am about to sew on the flouncy bottom bit.

Anyway, I have a question.  I haven't bought a zip yet cos it's Sunday and all the sewing shops are closed (grrr!) What size zip should I use?  Cos I want to make sure I'll be able to get it on.  Long enough to go past my waist?

Your dress is gorgeous, thankyou so much for sharing the tutorial!   Kiss

Ooh I'm so excited about this swap!   Shocked

I think 2 weeks seems fine, not too long, not too short.
44  KNITTING / Knitting: Completed Projects / Re: I wanted that sweater so bad! 3 months later... on: March 09, 2006 03:52:00 AM
Wow, wow, wow!!

I think I'm in love with that sweater.  It's gorgeous, reminds me of one I saw at a festival last summer but couldn't afford.   Roll Eyes

You're so beautiful too, and that colour really suits you!  Oh, I'm also a photographer!  Well, studying it at college.

Did anyone have any luck translating the pattern?  Otherwise I think I'll have to re-learn french. Cheesy  Or try and make up my own pattern for it...

Well done on such an original and edgy sweater!  And thankyou for the inspiration!!!!!

 Kiss

Clarity -

Yes, I made the pattern up.  Ages ago though (stole the idea from a pattern book, but I was too cheap to buy the pattern so I made it up instead), but I adapted the paper panels to fit Heather using my dressmakers dummy.
It took about a weekend to finish, but I wasn't working on it all the time.  Mostly in front of movies and stuff.  But yeah, it's quite quick to do, cos it's just basic panels really, with a zip in the back.   Smiley

Oooh, that dress looks great on you Heather!  I'm so glad it fits!  And the zip, I thought it was quite messy.  Tongue

Those mittens are so cool!

Finally I found the lead and charged the battery of my camera!!
Here's a picture of the beautiful scarf made by SafetyFox!!  Modelled by Dora, the dummy.

In other (wonderfully exciting) news, I got my package from BestSundayDress - who is amazing.  She made me a gorgeous dress, with a ribbon lacing front and fantastic wide sleeves - it's perfect for my Larp chasracter., and will be wondeerful for spring days pottering around.  It's a gorgeous deep indigo colour, and I'll have to take photos tonight to share with you Cheesy

Thank you Becky!

Also, I had a freakishly wierd dream about craftster.  I dreamed that I was in Swindon, that looked surprisingly like Birmingham International Airport, and I met BestSundayDress!  No idea how I knew it was you (apart from that you're in my dream is odd) but you were pushing a baby in a stroller.  Then I started running around with a pair of bolt cutters, so I got banned from craftster Sad

Oh, I'm so glad you liked the dress hon!  I was a little worried, but then when I heard you do Larp and stuff I thought you probably would!   Cheesy

That's so weird about the dream!!!  Wow, I was pushing a baby in a stroller?  Maybe I was babysitting it!  lol  My friend has just had at baby (at 18.   Lips sealed), maybe it was hers! hehe  I have weird dreams too though, I once dreamed Marilyn Manson (of all people...) helped me write a novel and then I hated it, so he ate it.  And then I got angry that he ate it, so I threw an apple at him.  And he appologised and gave me a chocolate heart with a massive nail hammered through the middle.   Huh

Everyone's gifts look amazing!!  Malinki - I love those anklets, especially the black and red one!!    And I love that panta Kirsty!!  The colour is beautiful on you!  And the yarn looks fab!  Smiley

My camera is still charging, it's too old... Roll Eyes  Takes forever.

Shocked  I got mine!!!

I love it so much!  The most beautiful purple mohair scarf, with ribbons woven in!!  And a little organza bag thingy with a gorgeous bracelet inside to add to my collection (which is already up to my elbows practically!  Wink) Ooh, and a little leftover yarn wrapped around the label of the yarn (I thought that was such a nice detail! hehe)  And it was all so beautifully wrapped in tissue paper and ribbon and a little bead and tag!

The gifts couldn't have been more perfect!!  I'm already wearing both!  Thankyou so much Kirsty (SafetyFox)!   Kiss

I'll post pictures when I get back from college, my cameras on charge right now and refuses to upload anything because the battery is so low.

Yay, the deadline was today, I sent out mine just now, so I'm all wet and horrible from walking to the post-office and back!

I can't wait to see what people get!   Smiley
