21  FIBER ARTS / Spinning: Completed Projects / Re: Fiber Friday - January 9th, 2009 on: January 10, 2009 08:07:58 PM
Steph blue--I have a kiwi as well.  It looks like you haven't done anything to the wood yet--I didn't want to varnish mine, either, so I use oils to keep it hydrated.  It's a good idea to put some kind of something on the wood, so that it doesn't crack or anything.

Your yarn looks lovely!  I am also curious as to what the fiber is.

I really wish I could keep my wheel unfinished, but I asked the husband and he said we would have to stain it or something.

The yarn started out as this merino roving I bought off of etsy.

This is what it looked like when I bought it.

Tonight I finished spinning this stuff and plied it with itself.  I'll get a pic for you guys later.

Hi.  I'm Steph and I frequent the purse making board.  I just got this amazing wheel for Christmas from my husband.  I finally spun some yarn that looks like yarn!  This is my third attempt and I really wanted to share.  I'm sorry I didn't get a chance to post this on Friday.

Here's my Ashford Kiwi.

Just plain old acrylic simply soft, but I won't hold it against them.  Still yummy.

25  PURSES, BAGS, WALLETS / Purses, Bags, Wallets: Completed Projects: General / messenger-like bag with "inked fabric" on: December 05, 2008 09:42:34 PM
I fell in love with this fabric a few months ago and now I see it everywhere.  I want to call this a messenger bag because of the long strap, it don't have the typical messenger bag flap.  I just have one zipper on the front.  The front zipper is the main access to the bag.  I posted a similar style a long time ago... http://www.craftster.org/forum/index.php?topic=233457.msg2550099#msg2550099  It is the same construction only a lot bigger.

I wish you were there.  I didn't sell any of these.

Yep!  Scarves.  I'm really compulsive.  When I can't sit behind a sewing machine, I tend to have needles or a hook in hand.

I did alright.  It was a little slow because the weather was too nice.  Nobody wanted to be indoors that weekend.

I had a craft fair coming up and the pressure was on to get my booth filled up.  Here is what I was working  on in the week leading up to the event.  Pretty purses all in a row.  Everything is lined in black so I didn't get shots of the insides.  If you can't tell in the pic, I have black shoulder straps on three of these.

These close with a drawstring.

here are a couple of booth shots if you guys are interested
